JONATHAN AND ELIZABETH

JONATHAN AND ELIZABETH

Children, growing up together In a town, small with memories,

Boy and girl, friends from such a young age, playing games, walking in the rain.

Walking to school In the morning, laughing together In the Spring and Summer,

Sharing thoughts and at times secrets of Importance that weren’t meant for boy and girl.

They grew to be very close, this boy who would be there to protect a girl so loved,

Jonathan was a kindhearted friend and let it be known that he would do for Elizabeth anything.

She In return cared so much for him that It was said death would be a beautiful thing,

Jonathan and Elizabeth were now teenagers, a love that would change In a special way.

Together often as life changed, soon adulthood would bring them to man and woman,

Happiness was theirs as most knew of their bond, the future was already written.

Life can be altered In an Instance as their hands would be pulled apart,

Jonathan would keep for a while the only secret ever from Elizabeth, his sickness.

With a failing heart, a prom dream come true, a drive afterward, a secret shared for two,

There’s a reason for all things as In a blink from the eye, one would surely die.

A car accident, slowly dying was his beloved Elizabeth, she would show the greatest love,

Her heart she would give to Jonathan just as always she had done, this for his life.

Elizabeth would forever live within Jonathan each day he awoke to the morning light,

Jonathan and Elizabeth, forever together and forever after they would be.

I’M HERE

I’M HERE!

My wagon went off the road, It turned upside down and I’m hurt,

The weather Is good so I lay here In the sun of the day In much pain.

Looking around I see the damage, my supplies are everywhere scattered,

There are people counting on me but I am where not a heart will see me.

As I stare up to the sky I see hawks circling about, not today I say,

I’m alive! there must soon be another wagon on the road passing by.

The crows are getting at the ripped open bags of seed, I throw my empty canteen,

My friends, the town must be searching for me now, I will be found alive.

Time passes by, please find me before the light turns to the dark of night,

A sound, a rumble getting closer, I try to let out a yell but I’m very weak,

I’m here!, with one burst of energy I scream, I’m here! I’m here!.

IN A DREAM

IN A DREAM

I saw you wandering in a dream,

In the dark, quiet, as you searched.

Not a word spoken from your lips,

What do you seek haunted one.?

I can’t find my way home as each night I roam,

It is you who see me wandering in a dream.

What do you search for asking one,

You are the dreamer who saw me wandering.

Now tell me, wanderer, who is the dreamer and who’s in the dream,

Is it only I and are you the dream.?

You call me the haunted one but who is the haunted,?

Not a word from my lips but you are the sleeping one.

What is it that you seek, why can’t you find your own way home,?

I do not know as sometimes I am in the dark and quiet.

I’LL LEAVE THE LIGHT ON

I’LL LEAVE THE LIGHT ON

I remember the day when you went away,

Your bags packed, you’ve grown so fast, on your way.

A choice has been made, I’ll stand by your side,

What you believe in your heart is the way you must fight.

Far away the war has not stopped,

I’ll leave the light on until you come home.

I’ve written these letters for fifty years now,

Missing in action is what was said to me about you.

You’re still my love, what has become of you,?

My life is less as you have not come back.

I’ve held on to hope, a prayer every night,

After fifty years the reality of not seeing you hides from my mind.

I’ll leave the light on as I have since the day you drove away,

I’ll leave the light on until my last day.

IF YOU HAD NO TOMORROW

IF YOU HAD NO TOMORROW

Would the birds be a sound singing in your ear,

The mountains not so much appreciated, would their beauty appear.

Would you see the sky in a different way,

Things would become precious for only a day.

The taste of a peach would rest in your mouth,

No time to fight as the hourglass runs out.

The wind against your face, the oceans spray,

Your feet in the sand, to loved ones, what would you say.?

If you had no tomorrow, if you could do one last thing,

Would you thank the Lord for giving you everything.?

FALL

FALL

Summer will go away, with it the miserable heated days,

The sun will find its way, settling down earlier than yesterday.

A cooler breeze will drift down from the mountains, Fall,

Colors of change are among that which shows another season,

Watch as leaves float to the ground, color is all around.

Fog will roll in from oceans across many coastal sands,

Crisp mornings are a favorite, most beautiful sight,

Fall and all that visits with it, feel it from within.

I’M GOING UP TO THE MOUNTAIN

I’M GOING UP TO THE MOUNTAIN

I’ll be leaving in the morning at first daylight,

I’m going up to the mountain to breathe and think.

It’s time that I get away from here for a while,

There is a very special place that waits for me.

Very different from down below where so much tension lives,

On the mountain, there exists a calming peace like no other.

Tonight I’ll make camp and spend time alone with nature,

Sitting by a warm fire eating fresh fish caught in the stream.

Being alone can be a bit frightening just as most peaceful,

A gun I do carry In case of sudden or nightly visitors.

A drink In hand and this much needed time up here on this land,

Tonight I sleep, In the morning I’ll slow down and see the world.

IF I WALKED ALONE

IF I WALKED ALONE

Sometimes we wish and find there to be another side of It,

When this world appears to be too much for me to handle

I sometimes wish that there were no people In this land.

If I walked alone at times I might think a dream come true,

No noise would be a pleasure but when would the quiet be a curse.

Walking through the streets beneath the light of the sun,

All alone such a peaceful journey until the day Is done.

Darkness will come, a place not special for me, a night alone an eternity,

If I walked alone everything would be mine to call my own.

Watch what you wish for as there are two sides to every want,

If I walked alone then alone I would be,

No value or meaning without another to see.

A PAGE MISSING

A PAGE MISSING

A life I find not finished yet quite incomplete,

There’s a page missing, something not found,

Writing about my time, a piece not described.

Talks with children unsettled, much more be said,

Differences between a father and daughter are unsaid.

A shock to my head, an accident did take fro me,

A page missing, what for me is still unwritten.

A MYSTERY

A MYSTERY

Something not discovered, a story that grows,

That which can not be figured out, a mystery.

Who did it, or how did it happen is a question,

Responsibility for a disappearance or crime.

Aliens are around us constantly, keep searching,

A mystery it is about Jack the Ripper, who was Jack?

Things exaggerated from the human mind, folklore,

A mystery grows with time, a mystery created with time.
