THE ADVENTURE OF LIFE

It holds many doors, different roads to choose from,

Chances are taken as we turn the page.

Life is an adventure, different chapters are written,

Only can it be wasted if we stand still to long,

Moving into the future, playing a different game.

We must read from different books,

Experience different tastes of another type of food.

We leave behind people and things, sometimes we must let go,

Carrying into the future our memories or lessons learned.

Sometimes it’s difficult to miss but we learn to adjust,

Changes upon changes as the wheel keeps turning.

The circle of life is neverending, nothing may stay the same,

The adventure of life is a most wonderful but hard game to play.

IT CAME FROM THE SKY

A flash of light, it came from the sky, dark of night,

Fast and bright, knocked him to the ground, shot through his eyes.

Where did this energy come from, beyond a stary sky,

What purpose could this serve, changing a mans life.

It came from the sky and shot a light in his eyes,

Something he would give to his friends, a gift too the world.

It flashed down from the sky, this his birthday night,

A gift and a sacrifice as with time it was to take his life,

What he left behind his friends never forgot.

WHEN I WAS A YOUNG BOY

WHEN I WAS A YOUNG BOY

I can still recall laying on my parents bed staring at the moon,

So far away from where I am today, distance and time separate.

If I go backwards in time and step off that plane I am home again,

I see my bag of blocks, many colors and shapes to build my imagination.

The toys as a child were something that never again have been seen,

I think of a Christmas eve staring out the window as the snow began falling.

Decorations on a tree that were bright with this nights dreams,

A last Christmas as in this place no more would there ever be.

A snowman bigger than me, Gary, Jimmy Hamilton, others I see,

Snowballs and Icicles, red saucers riding down a hill of white,

Thunder and lightning, a snow storm put out the lights on a night.

Houses I can see made of wood, close by a place of trees and woods,

A town called Amesbury where as a boy, a yesterday I once stood.

JUST A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I was born in Amesbury Massachusetts in nineteen sixty two.

A mother, father, and in time four sisters and two brothers.

We moved out here to California in nineteen sixty six i recall.

I remember living in Lawndale and going to school in Kindergarten.

When i was seven in second grade on Halloween night my dad died.

He fell of a cliff in Palos, Verdes in nineteen sixty nine, i remember.

The dreaming little boy found out that life wasn’t so magical after all.

I never stopped my dreaming or gave up  on dreams as i went about life.

I’ve had my share of pain and disappointment as i walked my path.

I’ve had friends and family whom have disappeared and gone away.

I have had great times and memories through the years, a life.

When i was in Jr. high in Yorba Linda i fell on my head playing Tennis in P.E.

I had my first brain surgery when i was fifteen and told that i might die

or be in a wheel chair, neither have happened yet.

I’ve walked fifty miles when i was told it wouldn’t happen.

I have three children, two sons and a daughter, i’m alive!.

I’m fifty two, started writing poetry when i was thirty five.

I have a wonderful girlfriend Kim, i dare to dream.

I CAN LAUGH WITH YOU IF YOU WILL CRY WITH ME

I can laugh with you over a funny show,

If you will cry with me over some sad news.

I can laugh with you when a silly joke be told,

If you will cry with me over us both getting old.

I can laugh with you just because it feels so good,

If you will cry with me when life doesn’t seem as it should.

I can laugh with you when things need too be laughed at,

If you will cry with me when we start on a beautiful new path,

I can laugh with you if you will cry with me over anything anytime.

TIME TO MOVE ON

A place to call home is where you rest your feet,

Happy is the word, somewhere that gives you peace.

Time to move on when in fact the feeling has gone,

Home is not a magical place except for in the mind.

So where is this place so special that we can call home,

Time to roam, time to move on and find again where I belong.

It never seems to stop, this journey to locate that special spot,

Time for us to move on and find out where we really belong.

WONDERLAND

The world is real, there are things happening everywhere,

It’s okay to acknowledge that horrible things are happening.

Just because one has opinions or speaks about worldly fears,

This is not as some whom are in denial refer too as negativity.

It is alright to have hopes and dreams, at times we wish too escape,

Make sure you don’t go so far as to become lost in never, never land.

We can not always sweep the dirt under the carpet, pretend not always,

We live not as some do in a magic wonderland but in reality so true,

Enjoy the days, but let’s get something straight, the world is not made

Up of candy canes, no fluffy clouds we can rest upon, not a unicorn in sight.

Butterflies fly and the birds do chirp each morning, the sun does shine,

The trees don’t dance always just as chocolates and gumdrops never fall from above.

Separate fantasy from reality, we need to see what’s happening all around,

Don’t hide your head in the sand, we live here in a beautiful but dangerous land,

Don’t shut your eyes, good and bad, happy and sad, you may speak, what is weak.

A PERFECT MOMENT

When darkness falls and the night is quiet,

Fighting is no more, words are of silence.

Sitting on a bench, hand in hand,

A drink for two on my private land.

When the echoes of sirens are no longer close,

The scream of the freeway is not near my home.

When all is everything I want it to be,

A fantasy is made in my own world to see.

A perfect moment can only be what we make it to be,

Things of change piece by piece, a perfect moment can be anything.

A WISE MAN SAID

A wise man said, never angry to bed,

Let go of the anger or sorrow that fills your heart.

Think before you act, be wise with your choice,

Put your thoughts together before words come out wrong.

Physical violence is not a last resort,

You’ve traveled too far, now you are lost.

A wise man said you can’t always get what you want,

Things won’t always go your way,

Keep control and pray for another day.

If first you don’t succed try, try again,

When the morning sun rises, another chance you’ll have,

A wise man said but a wise man is one who can keep a clear head.

IF YOU HAD NO TOMORROW

Would the birds be a sound singing in your ear,

The mountains not so much appreciated, would their beauty appear.

Would you see the sky in a different way,

Things would become precious for only a day.

The taste of a peach would rest in your mouth,

No time to fight as the hourglass runs out.

The wind against your face, the oceans spray,

Your feet in the sand, to loved ones, what would you say.?

If you had no tomorrow, if you could do one last thing,

Would you thank the lord for giving you everything.?
