ECHOES

Stand on top of the mountain, scream out and listen,

Your voice can be heard what seems to be around the world.

There are echoes in the wind from centuries ago,

Across many deserts the winds hold echoes in the dark of night.

How long the oceans have traveled, do you hear the echoes of ships,

Across the waters they traveled, many echoes of the stories told.

Echoes of war, echoes of songs sung throughout time, those that remind,

Echoes that haunt the mind, sounds that last a mans lifetime.

SOUNDS IN THE WIND

The wind has no sound unless obstacles to blow around or between,

Through nothing can it pass, an opening must make way for it.

Travels and swirls across the sky with force and power,

Since the existence of time it remains alive but unseen.

The crackling of branches and twigs from the trees,

Rustling of the leaves moving through the shrubs, wind has sound.

Through chimneys you can hear the wind whistle,

Fences creek, chimes let you know the wind is here.

Windows vibrate and trashcans hit the ground like drumbeats,

From our ears we hear sounds in the wind.

WITH CLOSED EYES

Many things are noticed when one can’t see,

Against our face the wind or a bird chirping in a tree.

From the air the sound of a plane soaring by,

Thunder claps as loud as a sonic boom.

People laughing with each other driving past,

Dogs barking in a nearby yard as they’re listened to.

The sound of music heard through an open window,

Two people in love saying goodbye at the door.

There are many, many things we notice with closed eyes,

Not only the darkness that’s with us inside.

The mind will open at the time our eyes close,

And see more than can be imagined in this dark world.

I CAN SEE TOMORROW

So clear to me, clear to see,

Yesterday is gone, gone away.

Today will soon be in the past,

It will be yesterday, i see this today.

Tomorrow is not yet here, this is clear,

When it comes it will turn into today,

Soon disappear into yesterday.

I can see tomorrow, i see this today,

Many things to discover, what comes my way.

What’s out on the horizon still a mystery,

It moves forward into my life, too be my today.

“FLIGHT”

There up high I stare to the wide open sky,

Watch as I do you circle, round, and round.

Free to fly, soar with the wind, I see you fly,

What is it that you see as you drift through the air?

Spread those wings and sail, sail to anywhere,

Beneath the stars, under heaven above, fly.

What the lord has given to you is the gift of flight,

Fly away, fly away, get lost into the night.

Created were you by he without a face,

Spirit in the sky will take you on a special flight.

Make your journey through the clouds moving by,

Into the sun that shines from so far away.

Finish your flight, goodbye, I say farewell, fly, fly far away.

A CLOUD CHOSEN

I travel along across the sky floating weightless,

Down below there is you, recognize i do.

Feel the wind blow through your hair, i am there,

Call on me if ever you need from me anything.

I rest on my cloud looking down on where i once stood,

In your yard watching the birds fly in the sky.

There are many clouds throughout time never ending,

But it’s this cloud, a cloud chosen for myself.

A place to be alone, a place where dreams are real,

The sun shines upon me, its warmth i feel, i can see

Myself smile in the light.

A friend that’s true would do for another anything,

If ever you need i will jump down off my cloud to be.

SOUL OF MANKIND

What ever happened to us as this is where we are,

What has brought us to this place in time, we are dying.

We are all strangers as the one standing next to me means nothing,

Nothing to each other from the beginning of time as war is always made.

When you come right down to it then the reasons are so silly, a childish game,

A game of death just the same, we’ll take that hill, storm the beaches, why.?

There’s a number of men and women that must be sacrificed to win this game,

Everyone’s afraid, why are we all running around with guns, watching the blood run.?

The bodies of lost men are scattered throughout time, in many lands they rest alone,

The scared faces of young men with guns put in their hands, how many wonder why.

We shoot and kill those we do not even know, we change and become animals on the loose,

The soul of mankind is filled with greed and evil, wars never ending, quest for power.

THROUGH EVERY WINDOW

There are windows all over the world, shapes and sizes,

A different view from each one, a picture never the same.

From so high up more of the world is seen, every one has a scene,

Down low is shown another view, look out through the window now.

I live in my house, picture windows are all about, through each one different,

Never the same if you open your eyes and take a close look around.

Through every window are scenes created by man and nature,

Close your eyes and dream, make that picture what ever you wish it to be,

Down on paper from your mind, tell your story, through every window seen.

POETRY IN MOTION

Always walking, consistently moving along or active,

Constantly thinking, analyzing things and people around.

It’s motion that keeps my body and mind alive and running,

It can only stop if i stop, i’m a man in motion.

Writing about the world and those in my mind, my wondering mind,

Has given me sight, the ability to visualize and better understand.

Words have no meaning without the mind to interpret definition,

Poetry is song and emotion without instrumental sound.

A combination of these now lives in me, words i write,

Motion i have, i am poetry in motion.

“LISTEN”

Close your eyes and open your mind,

Through your ears the sounds will work into your thoughts.

When the wind howls it makes a sound,

If a branch falls from a tree it cracks on the ground.

Listen as a plane screams across the sky,

Too the sound of laughter in a yard near by.

What do you hear when you listen to a song,?

The sounds of instruments playing along.

Do you listen when a love cries out to you,?

Possibly what hurts her, you have not a clue.

To nature listen, it has something to say,

Enjoy the sounds of everyday.
