WANDERING IN THE DARK

There have been times in my life when i have stumbled, fallen,

I have always picked myself up and endured what has happened.

I have wandered in the dark many times in my life, not in the physical sense,

At times lost and alone was i as a child growing up, a sense of fear filled me.

Being shy, not very big as there were bullies of the world lurking in the shadows,

Wandering in the dark as i could not see the possibilities or answers all around me.

To be strong mentally, to achieve by pushing on, overcome obstacles never so great,

When you can understand that you need not fear another man as he like you is of flesh and blood,

Stand strong just as once a man of flesh and blood stood for what he believed, possibly some fear.

To wander in the dark comes in many forms, to find the light, see it, takes a little wisdom, strength,

And a belief in yourself that you are as important, special, and faith will guide you by the hand.

MY SHORT STORY

There was a day when i wrote my first poem, a bad day,

Nineteen ninety seven, sitting on the floor, desperation.

Never did i really write before, never a poetic word,

About my children i wrote the words my fight.

Framed it and never stopped, always written on paper,

No computer owned at this time in my life, written words.

With time and thoughts it wasn’t long before stacks formed,

In two thousand and three i developed slowly anxiety problems.

I kept writing, finally my first computer and away i went, typing,

At the same time, while i was typing out all of my poems, i wrote.

Today i have many full portfolio’s of poetry typed and a lot with pictures,

Halloween, Christmas, Western, much assorted about the world and i

Even have a Bruce Springsteen poetry book. each one with a picture to them.

Having a blog has helped me so much, i was encouraged by a certain writer of books,

Thank you all for your support, opinions, and of course your reading, my short story.

OF YOU I DREAMED

Last night, i saw you walking with me, everything seemed right,

We walked along the breezy shore, sadness was no more.

These things i dreamed of you last night, feel what was in my sight,

We held hands in the moonlight, you were my beautiful wife.

You danced with me under the evening stars, you are my dream,

Eyes that meet are soon to be, this i could see, you and me.

Of you i dreamed of many special things, join me in my dream,

Our love would be forever, beyond the sunset of our lives.

Of you i dreamed that your pain and sorrow was mine,

Inhale it into my heart and soul, take this from my beautiful girl.

Of you i dreamed that soon it be not a dream.

THERE ONCE LIVED A MAN

Many lifetimes ago their lived a youthful man,

He worked hard, he did all that a man can.

On his farm, awoke when the rooster said,

Watched the sunrise, breakfast began his day.

A simple man whom worked hard on his land,

Crops in the field, a little money in his hand.

He had a wife with a pretty smile,

She was there when the day was done,

As he walked in from the setting sun.

Supper on the table, tired was this man and wife,

A warm fire and some conversation till sleep set in their eyes.

Children were grown, an adventure of their own,

A mother, a father, in a home now alone,

Their once was a man whom loved all that he had.

A NEW PARADISE

I sit back and think of the possibility that we may start again,

If not here then is there some other place of peace and happiness.

In the beginning we hear about a garden, it disappeared from us,

A new paradise where we can hear the birds sing without trouble on the horizon.

Listen to the wind without the painful, tragic, sounds of sirens,

A wonderful island, a new world where we are equal in every way.

Money holds no meaning in this paradise home where not a soul walks alone,

Food so plenty, pains of hunger never again in this new paradise where all are friends.

Sickness no more, no worries of a cure that were learned about many years before,

A place that sounds familiar, written in story books, a fantasy not believed,

Believe in this as once such a place did exist, a lesson learned if so happens again.

LOVE IS MANY THINGS

Red represents the color of love, there is love in green eyes,

On a cold, dark, night after work, is supper cooking not love.?

Dancing in the dark to ones favorite song,

With someone who cares, the sound of love.

A gift that’s given from a heart so true,

Puts a smile on her face, what is love to you.

Love is many things, a hug to a soul that’s blue,

A kind word to a friend for the pain he goes through.

Love is a prayer because you’re listened to,

Love is the raindrops falling down.

Plants everywhere, grow from the ground,

Taking time to listen, giving to those whom want to live,

What is love but unselfishness.

Love is many things,

To the world one day, may it bring peace.

THUNDER AND LIGHTNING

Monsters from the sky, monsters that come alive,

Like a team, One Invisible, the other of sight.

Thunder possesses the power of fearful sound,

Listen as It rumbles, echoing from within clouds above.

Lightening bolts strike without making any kind of sound,

Bright as It lights up the sky, deadly as It makes many a flight.

Thunder and lightening, together a combination so fierce,

Warning signs of a coming storm, don’t get caught In It at Its worst.

DO YOU REMEMBER A PLACE

We had to say goodbye, leave it behind, in time so far away,

It still stands not only where we left it but always in our minds.

Do you remember a place where friends were together,

A place where we all grew up just a little.

It seemed like we were somewhat older then,

No! we were not, only teenage kids.

We gossiped and fought over silly things,

Our own groups of whom we would let in.

Do you remember a field, a hangout back then,

A parking lot of dirt, later cement.

A quad only for seniors, now funny it seems,

A football team of boys, champions in the end.

Teachers, some we would never forget,

Friends once lost, now friends again.

Vending machines, and lockers, classes to learn in,

Taken a little for granted so many sunrises ago.

Here’s to Esperanza high school, i’m glad it was back then,

Never a group of students and friends like you,

Do you remember a place with such friends.?

HEARTBEAT OF THE WORLD

From within, the earth rumbles, there’s heated liquid like blood,

Beating as a heart beats, energy and life, power inside a complicated world.

Rise to the surface, thoughts and wisdom, to learn becomes the brain not seen,

The flowing wind and air stands to be the breath, lungs of the land.

The moon that rests beyond the sky, the stars and planets that watch up high,

The eyes of the world could only be our creator god invisible to our sight.

Is it sadness in the world or tears of joy that make the sky cry,

A sacrifice as the water drops fall sustaining life and keeping beauty in sight.

Everything hears everything, ears of the land are everywhere,

The world lives as we live, take for granted and many things can do us in.

SIRENS IN THE NIGHT

What is it that takes from us the quiet peace of the night,

Sitting back relaxing, sounds come screaming from a distance.

Painful to the ears and mind, not pleasant this sound at times,

Blessings of music if at this moment a life may be on the line.

Lights of beauty or lights of darkness and pain are noticed in the dark,

Different lights and sirens depending on what danger haunts the night.

A fire in a house, a soul stricken with sickness takes a team of heroes seen,

Crime in the streets, those without morals come out after the sun fades away.

Another type of man and woman steps out into the dark when bad shows up,

Sirens in the night, sirens of peace, sirens and lights that might save a life.
