GUN IN HAND

GUN IN HAND

This world has changed but some things never do,

Just as the pioneers did and all life and lands before,

We live today in a much scarier world, gun in hand.

Weapons from the beginning of man, it is how we live,

Protect ourselves from the fear, what we cannot see.

Paranoia and the unknown live with us in our homes,

If not a gun in hand then always a thought, living as though.

In different ways we do, we all manage in such a way,

Our own gun in hand in this land in which we stand.

FOOTSTEPS OF EXISTENCE

FOOTSTEPS OF EXISTENCE

My feet have walked in different shoes,

I have left a mark upon the land with feet.

On sidewalks as a child, footsteps much smaller,

Imprints not seen, back in time where I dreamed.

Footsteps of existence, invisible in some ways,

What we leave of ourselves, soul and spirit of no decay.

FOR GRANTED WE TAKE

FOR GRANTED WE TAKE

For granted things are lessons learned,

Our health, a job, a loving wife or friend.

A man does walk with no shoes on his feet, he sobs,

Complain no more as another sits in a chair, he has no feet.

A man who hates that put before his eyes is angry,

Passes by does a woman whom no longer can see.

Disgusted by what is heard as a world of noise,

For another poor soul who just once more could hear the beauty of music.

As one who feels no gift in his life, there’s a dying soul who clings to breath,

For a chance to be with a love in their life.

For a man whom to another does not wish to speak,

Taken for granted by he as another has no speech,

For granted we take, all are blessed with a gift that must be forever cherished.

EVERYTHING IS ON IT’S WAY TO SOMEWHERE

EVERYTHING IS ON ITS WAY

TO SOMEWHERE

We’re all connected from the beginning of time,

No matter where we are or where we are headed.

From the first sign of DNA, we have a link to each other,

It has been discovered that in some way we are all related.

Everything is on its way to somewhere while the earth keeps spinning,

Think about it, a bite of an apple eaten and swallowed, an ongoing voyage.

From a tree planted from seed, it then grows with time as the apple forms,

The flowing river makes its way to the ocean while the ocean carry’s it away.

Everything is in constant movement or aging as it makes its journey to other places,

The wind, the falling leaves continue on even though things disappear they are never gone.

Everything is on its way to somewhere, living or not, to somewhere, constant energy.

EYES IN THE NIGHT

EYES IN THE NIGHT

What is it that lives beyond the light of day,

Lurks, wanders in the dark, exist in the night.

Search for food, a task that’s taken much for granted,

While we slumber in silence, eyes in the night survive.

Many are they that fly, quietly on the prowl this night,

Over fences, there are the ones that move carefully, slowly.

Crawling along the ground, there’s a fight to see the morning light,

Scraps of food, nourishment for a chance to do it all over again.

So many eyes in the night, traveling along, the hunter or the hunted,

Big over the small, stronger defeats the weak, faster may just escape,

Eyes in the night, for many, could be a scary sight, on this dark night.

EXPRESSIONS

EXPRESSIONS

There are those with looks of a fear unexplained,

Scared of something, the world does not understand.

Laughing in the park, a man and woman,

Happy are their faces as seen from the street.

Crying all alone under a tree, tears of life,

Sadness spills out of a heart so broken.

Anger sits in the soul of a human being with hurt,

Upset at the loss of loves rejection.

Many faces of this life worn, expressions learned,

Expressions so true, those of me, those of you.

EACH DAY, A GIFT

EACH DAY, A GIFT

Awake In the morning to the rising sun,

To bed at night like a promise that It’s forever.

All things’ that we do or see or expect each day,

Are a temporary experience In this world to be.

Imagine one day no more will we exist,

Life down here will continue, by some, we shall be missed.

Our spirits’ will move on to some other plane,

Take comfort knowing that we’ll be joined by loved’ ones

On another new day.

Each day, a gift handed down to us from above,

Never knowing how many till we awake no more.

DROPS OF BLOOD AT MY FEET

DROPS OF BLOOD AT MY FEET

Tears flow from my eyes, I wish not to care about their minds,

There is blood flowing through my veins, blood of the related of many years.

With every angry sound, from the time the earth started spinning around,

As each and every battle from war, cries echo for thousands of years, with sound.

Wounds that don’t heal as they surface with time, one wrong word, explosion from the mind,

Civilizations disappear, towns of people that once were are no more, things age and die.

Life is an unusual adventure, travel from a place of beginning onward to an earthly end,

Blood spills in many ways, blood of pain, sorrow, the hurt from loved ones, red every day.

Drops of blood at my feet, they cannot be seen but they visit me from painful dreams,

Blood soaked land, drops of blood at my feet, blood on the hands of many a man.

DRINK FROM THE FOUNTAIN

DRINK FROM THE FOUNTAIN

Fact or fantasy, like the wishing, never ending thought that we can

Climb up and follow that mysterious rainbow to a magical land.

A four leaf clover, that search for the little green grass of hope,

Wish upon a star, will It get you far, blow out the candles,

Did you get that which you closed your eyes for?

Drink from the fountain, first, you must search the world,

Reality or a myth, could this be true, did God place upon this earth

The fountain of life, Is It possible somewhere hidden contains a fountain so true.

How can this be a possibility fore It Is said that all will someday die,

If so true then God put It In a place where no man would ever venture to.

DREAMWORLD

DREAMWORLD

In the light, I saw them, a sky of Orange floating,

An army of ape-men dressed in full armor above,

On a hill, they stood, spread out far and wide.

Suddenly, music echoed from the sky, an Eerie sound,

I recognized the tune from an English band listened too.

My sleeping eyes saw them with many faces of fear,

Guns in hand-turned before these eyes into electric guitars,

Watching Apelike men come together as a band in a dream world land.
