WHEN YOU FALL

WHEN YOU FALL

Hard! you come crashing to the ground, without sound,

The pain is so real, invisible too their sight, something unkind.

When you fall, is it something that touches from inside, can you move,

Not does this appear from a physical tragedy, when you fall I hear you call.

The weight of the world takes you down, without smiles, a darkened frown,

Look up and see the light, darkness fades, there lives a strength in you.

Pick yourself up! don’t be defeated by that which is all around, stand proud,

Life can knock you down, harder than any man with a fist of steel.

When you fall, the will to climb up from that hole, too make your legs stand is hard,

A step at a time, inch by inch higher you’ll find, see the light, walk again.

THEIR SHOPPING FACES

THEIR SHOPPING FACES

Approach do I that familiar place where food is much needed,

Headphones ready as I enter that always different shopping experience.

Sometimes I feel calm as I wander on my mission to succeed and leave,

A gathering of people, all going their own way, searching for tonight’s supper.

Amazing it is the minds of those who can figure it out and others so lost,

On their cell phones standing in the middle of isles without a clue, simply rude.

Excuse me I say as I move their cart for them, they stare and look away,

I watch their faces, not all are this way but many seem either angry or don’t care.

Here we go, the best part of the adventure is when we reach the line, wondering,

Which one to get in, I see the many expressions of frustration and in a rush.

The problem is when it’s their turn then they are never ready, talking on the phone,

Amazing as they can’t find their money, forgot how to use a card, to write a check.

These things as I listen to my music praying for a miracle that will save me from this,

The next time you go to the store take a look around, so much to laugh at, their shopping faces.

THERE ONCE LIVED A MAN

THERE ONCE LIVED A MAN

Many lifetimes ago there lived a youthful man,

He worked hard, he did all that a man can.

On his farm, awoke when the rooster said,

Watched the sunrise, breakfast began his day.

A simple man who worked hard on his land,

Crops in the field, a little money in his hand.

He had a wife with a pretty smile,

She was there when the day was done,

As he walked in from the setting sun.

Supper on the table, tired was this man and wife,

A warm fire and some conversation till sleep set in their eyes.

Children were grown, an adventure of their own,

A mother, a father, in a home now alone,

There once was a man who loved all that he had.

THE WOLF IS ALWAYS AT THE DOOR

THE WOLF IS ALWAYS AT THE DOOR

Knock! knock! who can that be at my door, not in the sense that you’ll hear,

The day may start out great, and for all you know a day so wonderful.

You stroll peacefully out the door on perhaps a nice sunny day,

To the mailbox, you arrive, surprise, surprise, what might be inside.

People are everywhere trying hard for a better life but they are watching,

Whom is out there keeping tabs on you, eyes watching from beyond the sky,

Satellites roaming day and night, do they keep watch over evil or our every night.

Helicopter’s circle in the dark, through your windows do they take notice of all you do,?

So you think your phone you own, they listen to your words, know where you go.

The computer is great but watch what it is you write or say, they know how to read,

Criminals of great intelligence are among us, they quietly roam the world seeking

They’ll take your identity or maybe your life, scams of plenty that will ruin your day,

The wolf is always at the door, a face that changes more and more, day by day.

The man is out there, eyes and ears are hidden from your view, be very aware and careful.

THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD

THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD

Heavy It Is, It weighs on everyone’s shoulders, the world hurts,

What to do as our world gets smaller and the number of souls grows.

Crowded, the skies are filled with flying machines heading everywhere,

Traffic lights soon will stand upon our oceans, cars may suddenly stop.

Where will all the trash go, It finds Its way Into the streets, nobody sees,

Plow It under, pretend It goes away, Into the drains chemicals make their way.

Competition to rule the world, how many bombs can be made before Insanity sets one free,

Fake smiles from those who share power, privacy Is no more as they are out there watching.

Weight of the world, It Is upon all of our shoulders but not one of us Is really In control,

We are all at the mercy of the universe but we have been given a piece of It as a gift,

The life Is being drained from It, whom or what watches as we tear it apart, we have nowhere to go.

THE WAY IT IS

THE WAY IT IS

The leaves, they fall from the standing trees,

Birds In the sky fly, short are their lives.

A boy and girl holding hands In the dark,

An Image In time as they become man and woman.

Seasons of four change through the year,

Love has a season, sometimes a lifetime.

The nights are always dark, a still quiet,

Just as the day Is light, the world is alive.

Summers with friends often come to their end,

Time marches on, that’s the way It Is.

Fly away little bird, animals run till they’re done,

A son, a daughter go away with the setting sun.

The way It Is, just the way It Is,

We’re born to die, someday to touch the sky.

THE UNSEEN MONSTER

THE UNSEEN MONSTER

It has life, it grows and never dies,

Relentless and appears very angry.

No fear does it possess but fear it gives,

There is no discrimination as it devours life.

Heartless without emotion as it travels,

It has a name as it has many nicknames.

Mankind does not call it friend as it has only one love, the face of death,

It can not be reasoned with, it will fight just as you must fight.

It conquers many battles, many will surrender,

The unseen monster has no conscience

But a body and strength like no other.

Its given name is the devils’ friend,

It calls itself only “CANCER”.

TWO ON A SWING

TWO ON A SWING

Here we are in the late afternoon, the sun going down,

I came by your house to say hello, it’s been some time.

I can’t believe it’s almost Summer can you,?

I see you still have that porch swing your dad put up.

How has everything been going for you since I’ve been gone,?

I’m glad, I can only stay for a while, you do understand.

Remember the days when we would just talk and sit on your swing,

The weekends in the Summer sun, laughing and not a worry to be found.

We were just kids, young, times like those are memories of fun,

I could see your tears when I had to leave this place.

I’m in your heart as you’ll forever be in mine,

Let’s just sit here for a while until the sun fades,

I’ll never go away, remember two on a swing in those Summer days.

WHAT IF YOU NEVER?

WHAT IF YOU NEVER?

The wind on your face, Never before felt, what a fate,

Grass beneath your feet, so sweet, would you never meet?

Rain coming down, listen to its sound, never will you touch,

If you never smelled a flower, climbed a tree, kissed your mother.

What if you never danced with a girl, could never walk down the road,

Never run with your friends, What if you lived, what if you never did live?

THE MIGHTY SEQUOIA

THE MIGHTY SEQUOIA

How beautiful a tree that stands what seems like forever,

Some are more than three hundred feet high touching the sky.

Can you just imagine the time these trees have spent watching clouds pass by,

They have been standing strong while lifetimes have come and gone.

The mighty Sequoia, there is one that lives for thirty five hundred years,

Imagine this, born to the world as It began Its growth before the life of Jesus Christ.

This mighty tree still stands two thousand years after the death of quite a man,

It Is the mighty Sequoia, King of trees, will stand forever as long as the earth will be.
