FOR GRANTED WE TAKE

FOR GRANTED WE TAKE

For granted things are lessons learned,

Our health, a job, a loving wife or friend.

A man does walk with no shoes on his feet, he sobs,

Complain no more as another sits in a chair, he has no feet.

A man who hates that put before his eyes is angry,

Passes by does a woman whom no longer can see.

Disgusted by what is heard as a world of noise,

For another poor soul whom just once more could hear the beauty of music.

As one who feels no gift in his life, there’s a dying soul who clings to breath,

For a chance to be with a love in their life.

For a man whom to another does not wish to speak,

Taken for granted by he as another has no speech,

For granted we take, all are blessed with a gift that must be forever cherished.

FOOTSTEPS OF EXISTENCE

FOOTSTEPS OF EXISTENCE

My feet have walked in different shoes,

I have left a mark upon the land with feet.

On sidewalks as a child, footsteps much smaller,

Imprints not seen, back in time where I dreamed.

Footsteps of existence, invisible in some ways,

What we leave of ourselves, soul and spirit of no decay.

FOLLOW THE RIVER

FOLLOW THE RIVER

Watching the water as it flows downstream,

I walk its path on either side.

As the river turns swaying from side to side,

The rushing water crashes and throws itself at me,

As I make my way along.

On my journey past trees and hills,

Notice do I the bright sun and big white clouds passing me by.

Follow, follow the river on a course chosen by itself,

Onward, downward until such a place where the water lies still.

I follow the river to a resting spot, now it is time for this soul to sleep.

SHADOW RIDERS

SHADOW RIDERS

Men crumble, sins they can not hide, they run,

From the expressions on their faces, aging lines of haunt,

One of them runs, the other chases, they both run together,

One tries to hide his guilt and pain, the other chases to forget.

Shadow riders, at different times they are the rider, the other prey,

They are from a time of civil unrest, they kill and then die in a place for them.

It takes its toll, the hunt and the run, tears from men dry up in the sun,

Nothing more to be said, two dying men soon would be dead, blood on their hands,

Ones knife in the desert sand, a gun left on a deserted land,

Walk in a different direction, shadow riders are never seen again.

FOLLOW ME

FOLLOW ME

To everywhere, I start from here, where I stand I’ll leave behind,

Watch my steps and join with me, I’ll walk from here and travel far.

I’ll travel by bicycle across the land, across the open road,

Around the world, around the world, follow me so very far.

In a driven car from here to there, into the sun I’ll make it there,

Follow me as I wander through country of never ending horizon.

The sounding whistle of a rumbling train catches my eye,

Take my hand and jump into a boxcar, ride, we will ride.

Across the hills, over the bridge, and through tunnels of darkness,

Faster we move to where it is we travel, follow me, follow me.

I am the captain, I will be your guide as we journey under gods sky,

Soon we must part from this locomotive driven by the man who cries.

Down a grassy slope, we walk many miles with the wind at our backs,

In the distance it sits, a giant balloon waiting under the stars of the night.

Follow me, tired as we make our way through the trees, into a dream,

It stands so high as we board it, climbing up, up beyond the clouds.

Drift with me into the wind and hang onto my arm as we vanish,

This is the best of life, down, down we fall slowly to the ground.

Now take my hand and get ready as we begin a flight through the night,

Fly with me above the world, hold on tight, we’re in heaven tonight.

This journey takes us on a beautiful boat dancing on the sea, follow me,

Around the world, follow me, an adventure for two, not many will ever see.

“flight”

“FLIGHT”

There up high I stare too the wide open sky,

Watch as I do you circle, round, and round.

Free to fly, soar with the wind, I see you fly,

What is it that you see as you drift through the air?

Spread those wings and sail, sail to anywhere,

Beneath the stars, under heaven above, fly.

What the lord has given to you is the gift of flight,

Fly away, fly away, get lost into the night.

Created were you by he without a face,

Spirit in the sky will take you on a special flight.

Make your journey through the clouds moving by,

Into the sun that shines from so far away.

Finish your flight, goodbye, I say farewell, fly, fly far away.
