RISE UP!

Anywhere and everywhere the enemy hides throughout the world,

They are not counted as their number is growing in silence.

They are of sick minds as they plot, attack, and steal lives from family,

Their belief that they are heaven bound for killing is a false belief, a fantasy.

Terrorism of any kind deserves a train ride to hell as it has no color,

Something has been so wrong in this world since the dawn of man.

Rise up!, together we need to stand on our feet, join hands around the world,

It is a really scary thing but we are all in trouble, dangerous times are here.

A story not so pretty, the sun still shines on our everyday but we must see it all,

In between the beauty and our everyday dreams remains echoes of a worlds screams.

Never can we allow ourselves to be fooled by that which we read or the big speech,

Rise up all people and question the lies that are told and don’t be easily deceived.

LIGHT IN THE WINDOW

Each night as the sun goes down, darkness visits a sleepy town,

A usual stroll through the streets brings peace before dreams.

What’s noticed from a mans eyes within the blackness is a window,

A dark building shows off the faint light that glows from behind a shade.

As i pass by every night along my route of walking i wonder about the light,

Who might be there beyond the walls surrounding this one and only window.

Always seems so quiet, could there be laughter or singing on the other side,

Someone quietly reading a book, dreaming of what’s out there in the world,

Beyond their window, do they wonder of things that are a mystery to them.

Is there a possible sadness that wanders around inside, whom might hide,

A name must be attached to a soul with a life, only a light in the window is seen.

LIFE ITSELF

It started for us each our own day, a life ahead in our own way,

We carve a path, a road we make to walk that ends when god will say.

Life itself is so incredible, mysterious, with laughter and tears along the way,

What are we suppose to learn as we go from childhood and beyond long lost days.

We say hello and then a day comes to say goodbye, In between it is we whom share our lives,

We cry when we are happy, tears are shed upon our faces when when a goodbye is said in many ways.

The cycle carries on as we grow from a child and watch as our children become adults, we get older,

Our parents go from what was once younger to a place of fragileness then disappear into eternity.

Our children have children as we slowly follow a certain path, someday too again join family,

Why is it we have to be saddened by so many different goodbyes throughout this gift of a life?

CONVERSATION WITH A FRIEND

Where have you been? i’ve been searching for so long,

I tried to call you on the phone but you were no longer home.

I went to the places where we use to be,

Just standing there in the wind, memory’s of a friend.

I grew up just as you did, life changed and i went away,

There were many things for me to see, living my dreams.

I meant to call but as time went by, out of sight, out of mind,

A woman came into my life, my past was left behind.

So tell me friend what have you been doing,?

I stayed behind, watching the world go by,

Children of three and a wife no more to be.

Worked to survive, became older did i,

A roller coaster ride, i’ve had in my time.

I’m glad we found one another, i’ll soon be coming home,

I went away but i’ll be coming back that way.

We’ll stand together one more time,

Somewhat older as you are you and i am me.

FOR THIS LIFE

FOR THIS LIFE

From a breath first taken, this is my life,

What has been a gift comes with scars and sacrifice.

We have a life, our roads chosen take us in unknown directions,

For this life we accept the mystery and wonder.

They live and breathe from here and there just the same,

Many to us are strangers, walking with names.

For this life she smiles at the mornings light,

A tear in her heart but she does not cry.

He has many dreams to imagine as hope still survives,

He moves with the wind, he feels inside, for this life.

You are passion and energy combined,

In constant motion it is you who lives for this life.

EVERYONE HAS A STORY

Before our first breath of life, our first day recognized,

A book, blank on the inside, pages not yet written.

The cover plain without scene or color, our story begins,

This is our book until the last page written, everyone has a story.

We begin with that which we first see, pictures created,

We have the choice too write this ourselves or be written about.

Live our lives through our own eyes, walk and dream, page by page,

We will learn and experience many things as we travel our chosen path.

There will be times when a road taken is not the one we might desire,

We will come across every emotion created and attempt too deal with it.

Everyone has a story to write, write it yourself until the last page,

When it’s time to put that pen down, rest your weary head.

BETWEEN DARKNESS AND LIGHT

The sun shines bright, it then fades into the dark of night,

Just as the heart and soul of a human crawls from the light into dark.

To hide from the pain and sorrow of a tragic day, hide inside and go away,

Try and forget in ways that at the time seem fine to a broken mind.

Trauma is a most unpleasant visitor as it has no sympathy or kindness,

Steals from one the smile and sometimes brings much fear, forever scars.

Falling, a deep hole in which a soul believes no escape, hurting the self appears the way,

A path of destruction with no turning back, but wait!, there is surely a chance.

You found your way lost, between darkness and light, you must fight to make it back,

Something has happened that ripped you apart, not fair but it was gods will.

He knew you would fall, your test would be to find your way back from the darkness,

You climbed out of that hole and with his hand you also found your way back to the light,

Today holds a piece of yesterday, forever a thought, life does move ahead, another today.

IF I COULD MAKE IT ALRIGHT

My eyes i would give you and be blind so you could see,

So that you could hear the sounds of the world, deaf i would be.

I would give up my voice that you may sing out your song,

Hold onto your hand when the pain of life becomes too strong.

If i could make it alright, any sickness for you would be my fight,

If i could make it alright, my sleep i would lose so you may restthrough the night.

My heart is mine just as your heart belongs to you,

If i could make it alright then know that my heart i would give to you.

The ultimate gift would be to give so that another could live,

If your heart did cease to beat then my life i would give to you.

I KNOW YOU ARE SOMEWHERE

I KNOW YOU ARE SOMEWHERE

I know you are there Art, I wonder where you are, how are you?

Are you alright? Do you understand what has happened? are you near or far?

It seems you have gone away, was the sun shining? what were your thoughts of this day?

I remember when once we met on a sunny Yorba Linda day, you were young, life was okay,

Those were the days of innocence, we were safe to what was coming our way, chances we take.

A smile you had always on your face, from day to day you aged as we all did, today you went away,

I know you are somewhere, I can feel it as I imagine you traveling to a far off unimaginable place.

You were here, could it be that you are still around, I thought I heard you laugh, remembering the sound,

You left your mark, a reason heaven needed you now, I saw you yesterday Art, It seems so long ago.

Many friends were yours, I think at times you didn’t understand, you were born on a day, with god you now stand,

I’ll always remember and think of you dear friend when I recall those neverending Summer days so long ago.

I SAW YOU LAST NIGHT

I saw you last night, I saw you in a dream,

You were sitting alone, you were waiting for me.

I tried to reach you but you were too far away,

Sreamed out to you but you couldn’t hear what I was saying.

I know you were thinking as you move your foot,

A cigarette to your lips, gazing out into nothing.

The more you try to move you sit ever still,

I saw you last night, inside you were crying.

Burdened and stressed, tired and a want for only happiness,

This is you, you miss me as I miss you, this is true.

I saw you last night, I did, a dream or not.
