THINKING OF MAN

Wow!, think about it, everyone has changed just as the times have changed,

Way back in time when food had to be hunted  daily, appreciation for a bite.

Today fast food on every corner that is slowly killing all around the world,

When we don’t finish our plates then we simply toss it away, down the drain.

There was a time when a man could drink from a lake or stream, refreshing,

Today without an intelligent thought it is perhaps for a dollar polluted water.

Way back in the west, many places in fact, a body could rest their weary head

Under a tree, make camp and sleep, hunt, have some peace without a stare,

We come to the future where a person is now labeled homeless, we stare.

Loitering and vagrancy are the words used, no sleeping, hard to survive,

Move along it will be said to the one who dares to be free and live in peace.

It’s come to where neighbors fighting and the sounds of sirens are the way,

Nature is screamed at, a burden to many as they make their beautiful sounds in the day.

Trash in the streets but that’s okay, another will clean it if they come this way,

Thinking of man, this way of the future, we now pay a price for water, air, and even dirt.

MR, CAN YOU SPARE A DIME

I am a human being, Dirty are usually my clothes,

Don’t judge me by the way i look, i have something to say.

I was born to this world equal to all other women and men,

The road we’re on isn’t always our road chosen but we move on.

Many days and nights experiencing life have made me who i am,

Choices of my own desire, mistakes of foolishness have put me where i stand.

Did i try not hard enough, perhaps my brain did not have a steady plan,

Inside of me there exists a heart of a human, treat me like i matter if you can.

Mr, can you spare me a dime? I’ll be forever grateful whether you believe it or not,

To you a dime is nothing, wondering do you what this coin can possibly do for me.

A collection from this as the embarrassment may not show helps me greatly, thank you,

Mr, can you spare a dime? If so then my day will be fine, Mr, can you spare a dime.?

“FRIENDS”

Do you recall your first friend, do you know them today,

Did they disappear with childhood and drift beyond another day.

I had a friend, a lifetime ago, back when i was only four, i remember,

His name was Donnie, glasses, a Winter cap, a long time ago friend.

Where is he today, no longer a child, i would not know him anyway,

A picture frozen in my mind, he will stay young for the rest of my life.

Kenneth, James, David, and cotero, i think of them from Kindergarten,

A boy named Grover, we were just little boys, innocence of a time now over.

Remember those friends from life’s morning until the night of your life,

So many names but special ones we think about as we travel along,” friends.”

Think of someone you once knew, take a moment, go back to your special place,

I think it’s suppose to be this way, a reason we go through phases and changes.

There are times when friends must be left behind, some with us for a lifetime,

Remembering friends who are out there somewhere, do they remember.?

HEARTBEAT OF THE WORLD

From within, the earth rumbles, there’s heated liquid like blood,

Beating as a heart beats, energy and life, power inside a complicated world.

Rise to the surface, thoughts and wisdom, to learn becomes the brain not seen,

The flowing wind and air stands to be the breath, lungs of the land.

The moon that rests beyond the sky, the stars and planets that watch up high,

The eyes of the world could only be our creator god invisible to our sight.

Is it sadness in the world or tears of joy that make the sky cry,

A sacrifice as the water drops fall sustaining life and keeping beauty in sight.

Everything hears everything, ears of the land are everywhere,

The world lives as we live, take for granted and many things can do us in.

I AM A BEE

In the Spring and Summer you’ll find me around,

Even in the Fall I am found.

Flying and buzzing are not the only things that I do,

My love for making honey is so very true.

My quest is not too sting though my reputation is this,

Just like you too survive and be left alone is my wish.

Many cousins too me in this world,

Different are they, this I will say.

They all slap at me, run away, and scream,

If only I could laugh then they would hear me.

What frightens them? I’m so small you see,

I’m tiny, I’m fragile, I’m only a bee.

WHEN THE SUN RISES TOO A NEW YEAR

WHEN THE SUN RISES TO A NEW YEAR

Tonight we say goodbye to a New year filled with many surprises,

But fortunate are the ones whom still stand, whom remain blessed.

A year of life has been granted to most, some have been said a goodbye,

We take for granted at times the beauty we do see, tomorrow may not be.

Oh!but the gifts that have fallen down upon this man as he asks of losses,

Yesterday is no longer, today almost a memory, tomorrow a new beginning.

For every smile given, a smile in return has passed my way, truly blessed,

Faces with name are mine too remember, too hold onto for many years.

When the sun rises the gift of life will be shown too so many in this world,

A New year that brings with it great possibilities and dreams come true.

Thoughts of new friends as others vanish with the passing time,

Life goes on and so do we, I sit here tonight by a fire and reflect.

Music from the boss is my inspiration and friend as the night closes in,

Always does a light shine in my eyes and a smile when thoughts of you.

Happy New Year, Keith Garrett

A CHANGING SEASON

A CHANGING SEASON

Leaves of red and green, leaves turning brown,

Leaves falling all around, they fall and touch the ground.

Floating on down, wherever I’m walking, raining leaves,

Suddenly a gentle breeze, blowing leaves beyond the trees.

Nights showing up sooner as the days become shorter,

Temperatures are dropping as the warmth of day, earlier goes away.

A changing season is constant and repeats itself with the changing years,

Beautiful become the emptying trees, naked and alive without their leaves.

Slower does nature grow as soon getting ready to take that deserved rest,

The animals are beginning to collect and store for what’s next.

A changing season sets in motion a cycle of never ending energy and life.

I CAN’NOT BE FOUND

I CAN’NOT BE FOUND

You will not see me because I am not there,

Even if you search for me everywhere.

I have no touch so do not try to feel me,

I can’not be found, i’m nowhere around.

Do not try to speak with me, there’s no one to hear,

I have not a face, waste no time with a stare.

I am not there, I am not anywhere,

I am not around, therefore I can’ not be found.

A COLLECTION OF TIME

A COLLECTION OF TIME

From our first look, a picture, a baby book,

Pictures in school, pictures in the park,

Home movies and videos, memories of whom we are.

A collection of time, scenes and images from a life,

A scrap book of many filled and turned pages to see,

Photo albums created from places, times with family.

A collection of time, pictures faded, recalled faces that change,

All that which we hold onto, saved in boxes, dusty shelves of thoughts,

A collection of time, memories in our minds, treasures left behind.

A LIGHT IN THE FOREST

A LIGHT IN THE FOREST

Traveling together were myself and a friend, a getaway,

Down the long highway we went, weren’t sure where we were going.

We started out driving, searching for that unusual place of discovery,

A forest, that would be our destination, we’re on our way into the day.

We travel along talking and listening to our favorite music getting close,

Further ahead of us in the distance they appear to our eyes, trees so high.

We’ll be going up a ways, where everything is so green and darkness within the trees,

We make our camp for the night, ready in the morning for our walk below the hidden sky.

Tonight a campfire, some food, laughing with a friend, and sleeping under a star or two,

Morning light shines down upon the land, we pack our things and head into the forest.

Dark, very dark as we make our way deeper among the ancient trees, where are we,

There’s something up ahead, can you see, a light in the forest, we’ll be okay.
