A NEW PARADISE
I sit back and think of the possibility that we
May start again,
If not here then is there some other place of peace
And happiness?
In the beginning we hear about a garden, it
Disappeared from us,
A new paradise where we can hear the birds sing
Without trouble on the horizon.
Listen to the wind without the painful, tragic, sounds
Of sirens,
A wonderful island, a new world where we are equal
In every way.
Money holds no meaning in this paradise home where
Not a soul walks alone,
Food so plenty, pains of hunger never again in this new
Paradise where all are friends.
Sickness no more, no worries of a cure that were learned
About many years before,
A place that sounds familiar, written in story books, a
Fantasy not believed,
Believe in this as once such a place did exist, a lesson
Learned if so happens again.

TREASURES OF THE LORD
TREASURES OF THE LORD
Into the darkness I stepped, wandering down a road,
Left behind the trust and care for those who hurt my
Soul.
Alone I've stood on a hill so high, at the edge of the
mountain,
There was nothing for me to see, blinded by what is
Humanity.
Is this place I am in a creation of my own anger and
Non-believing,
Does darkness fade as the sun appears again for a
Blind man?
I've opened these eyes and learned to see his
Masterpiece,
The hills that are alive that rest beneath God's wide
Open sky.
The wind that sings as it blows through the ever so
High trees,
Rain that falls below is a gift to us so that we may
Watch Life grow.
From the sea, to all that we need to be, is for us
Because he,
Only he had a thought, the power to imagine that
Which we see.
Treasures of the lord were placed down upon from
Heaven,
Only the greed of a man has stolen that which to him
belongs not.
Every time i open my eyes, the treasures of the lord
are seen.
These are a gift, a reality that even the blind may see.

ANOTHER TIME AND PLACE
ANOTHER TIME AND PLACE
I write to you from yesterday, a very long time
Ago for you,
Long before you were born in a town of people
and family.
My family and I were up before the break of dawn,
Working,
Children of a simple time but at times not so simple
You see.
Horses were a common thing just as your car is in
your time,
Things of your day not dreamed up as of yet, life was
hard, also fun.
Here in yesterday there is sickness that kills many as
There is no medicine,
As I sit here on my farm watcing my wife and kids play,
I write this to you.
When you receive my letter it will be that I and those I
Love will be gone now,
You will have all the things that we here have never seen,
Good and bad.
There are beautiful things and land that will disappear with
Time, I can see them,
I live here in another time and place just as you do, I hope
this letter gets to you.

TOUGH ON THE SCREEN
TOUGH ON THE SCREEN
Keith Garrett
Heroes or bad guys, they played them all,
These stars of the movies, where are they now?
A man named Cagney, Edward G. Robinson too,
John Garfield, Audie Murphy was quite a hero.
Jack Palance, a tough man for sure,
John Wayne, the duke was a man of strength.
Clint Walker and Richard Boone, big as can be,
Forrest Tucker, James Coburn, men of the screen.
Marlon Brando had a name as big as life,
James Dean was a rebel, Richard Widmark was mean.
Fess Parker was a big man, Gary Cooper so great,
Spencer Tracy, awesome, Humphrey Bogart, one of a kind.
Clark Gable, Anthony Quinn, greatness back in time,
Charlton Heston and Gregory Peck, actors so fine.
Lee Marvin, what a look, Charles Bronson, one so tough,
Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster, the talent of two.
Yul Brynner, magnificent a star, Robert Mitchum bad or good,
Sean Connery, accent with a gun, George Peppard, blue
Eyes, and tough.
Tall and mean, Clint Eastwood and a lifetime of movies,
Lee Van Cleef, a man with a glare, Steve McQueen, big on
The screen.
Jack Nicholson, Peter Fonda, and Dennis Hopper on their
Riding machines,
Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall, they played the hero,
They did it all.
Robert Ryan or Robert Taylor back in the day, tough some
Would say,
Michael Landon, Robert Urich, Lee Majors, they all were
Great.
Robert Conrad was tough, the wild, wild, West,
William Shatner in charge, star Trek and Outerspace.
DEATH IS NOT SO REAL
DEATH IS NOT SO REAL
Maybe it's a dream that we die, You're still alive,
You live in a different home, left your house and moved.
I spoke to you on your birthday, now I hear nothing
You say,
Are you a little here, can you hear what I say, are you in a
Different way?
Death is not so real, another way to feel, a land between
Here and there,
You are not of human flesh, changed into some heavenly
Consciousness.
Do you drift from here to there, are you anywhere or
Everywhere,
You are my mother, In this son's heart, It is that I have to
Set you free.
Death is not so real, I see you as you would always be,
Closer to me.

DESPERADO
DESPERADO
More than one hundred years ago he lived,
In a small village somewhere in Mexico, a boy.
Poor was his family as each day was a struggle,
There were those close by, the bad ones who stole
Everything.
A day came when his village was destroyed, family
Killed,
Survived did he to one dsy grow to be a man.
Revenge would be his only friend, not a bad man
Was he,
With pistols at his side he would seek justice.
They called him desperado, a no good criminal,
He stole from them who once took everything
Meaningful.
His gun did the talking, anger ate at his soul,
He lived by campfire, ate what he shot or stole,
Justice was one day his, his reward was always on
The run.

BARBARA JEAN
BARBARA JEAN
You were standing by your mamma, you were
Just a litt;e girl,
Backwards' the wind takes my thoughts' Into what
You as a small
Child could be, a little girl named Barbara Jean.
In you lives, still this dreaming young spirit that flew
Forward,
The wind and time has carried you, such a wonderful
Mother,
Here to where you still wander and dream, you!
Barbara Jean.
You are just days' older, every day, one day older than
Yesterday,
Stand you still do as always your mamma watches
Over you.
Not there was I for each of your childish birthdays', no,
Not yet,
Fore all the ones' you would celebrate would bring us
Together sooner.
I believe In my wishes and dreams' that you are younger
Than yesterday,
With much love from a son who says' thank you to a girl
Named Barbara Jean.
Rest in peace, Mom.

AUTUMN COMES ALIVE!
AUTUMN COMES ALIVE!
As the Summer ends and the night air turns cool,
A feeling of Fall comes to us all.
All around us the shadows change in their own way,
The sun turns in early and shortens our day.
Through the trees the wind blows, dropping the
Leaves to the ground,
Their colors have all changed as they make not a sound.
It's time for pumpkins and many more things,
Autumn comes alive! with the plants that it brings.
Into this new season with the hope that it brings,
These colors of Fall are shared with all.

ARMS OF GOD
ARMS OF GOD
Outstretched, they reach far and wide, around
The world,
Fierce and strong, they can crush or destroy what's
Needed,
Careful and loving as they will comfort when the
Going is tough.
A being so full of mystery, with power and wisdom so
Unknown,
Creator of all that we know and more, arms of God will
Carry us home.
Wherever you may be, within all that we see, they exist
To help us up,
Touching a universe that seems to have not an ending of
Discovery,
The arms of God are not to be seen as they are not a fantasy
Or a dream.

1943 NICKEL
1943 NICKEL
A nickel I came upon, old is its age,
Dirty and worn, 1943 had a name.
When it was made, which first pocket did hold,
A celebrity of movies or a farmer tired at night.
Could it have been the great Joe Dimaggio,
As time went by possibly a singer or olympian.
A little boy had a nickel in his pocket, grew did he,
A famous writer he became, a 1943 nickel, where
Could it be.
Beyond seventy years this silver looking coin has
Traveled,
Today it rests with me, who held onto it in 1943?
