MOTHER

Thank you mother for the life i have,

Not a memory have i when you first ave me life.

You saw that i was not hungry, held me close in the night,

Dressed me and made sure that everything was alright.

You listened as i spoke my first words,

Helped as i learned to crawl and walk.

You rocked me to sleep singing a song,

Were there when i was hurt, taught me right from wrong.

If i did not listen then shame on me,

If i did not learn from you, such a tragedy.

Thank god you’re still my mother,

Sometimes taken for granted you see,

You are my mother and that’s why i’m me.

THE SUN CAME UP THIS MORNING

There was light seen through my window, night is gone,

Another day, such a gift that has come my way, it’s today.

Am i surprised or is the sunrise taken much for granted,

The sun came up this morning as it does without fail,

Would this be a shocking event if darkness was our only light.

When the sun came up this morning it was a miracle i did see,

The warmth from it is a friend indeed, without we would not be.

DEAR GOD

DEAR GOD

Sometimes we take our world for granted,

We miss the sunrise, believe there will always be a sunset.

Death seems to be a punishment, perhaps a gift,

Today you did a most wonderful thing, thank you.

Mary Ann was in such pain so you sent the angels to sit by her side,

They held her hand, they did not leave her until it was time, they took her away.

A family mourns but you let her rest, you gave her peace,

God, please let her know, Mary Ann, now you can smile,

You can laugh and run as once you did as a child.

Watch the birds fly high in heavens sky,

Listen to music that was special to your ears.

Tell her that she’ll see them again in a place of peace,

A land without fear.

ECHOES AND SHADOWS

When the wind blows there are echoes in time,

Echoes of all that have passed on by.

The sounds of a lifetime, listen as the children have grown,

Echoes of voices lost with the emptying hourglass.

There are the echoes of those whom once lived,

Laughter of young ones, now part of the wind.

Shadows of the seasons, one by one gone,

Shadows remembered of a man standing in the sun.

Shadows of trees that stood tall in the sky,

Across mountain tops, shadows from morning till night.

Echoes and shadows from the beginning of time,

Time passed by, seen from many eyes.

WHEN I WAS NOTHING

WHEN I WAS NOTHING

Some time ago it was that i was not here, when i was nothing,

There was no me, i may have existed in a waiting world of the unborn.

When i was nothing there was no pain, no name to be called as i had no breath

I may have had a spirit and soul, not yet known to a mother and father not known.

When i was nothing there was something waiting out there for me, for my eyes to see,

Where was i when i was not me, a thought in the minds of my parents to be.

We start out nothing to be, become flesh and blood, a heart with a name,

The time will come when our days are done, back to nothing from once i was.

IF I WERE A GHOST

To be not anymore alive, not yet ready to touch the sky,

Wherever my spirit and soul must go, not ready to say goodbye.

If i were a ghost then what might my new world be like, some thoughts,

Faces and those whom i love i could see as they now can not until eternity see me.

Their words for me are heard as they know not that i am still around, I am here,

Not as i once was with body or identity but mind, spirit, and soul are together today.

Without the physical ability as once possessed my challenge of this new existence is now,

Remembering how i could pick things up and communicate seem now taken for granted.

If i were a ghost i would never again feel pain, no food would be needed to sustain,

Some good and some bad, a situation with feelings of sadness,

If i were a ghost i think it would be time to let myself go.

WHAT THE WIND HAS SEEN

As time began the wind came to life,

It had its moment of creation.

The wind has traveled to everywhere,

Seen by it is all places created by god.

All at once it takes in the worlds wonders,

Knowing many things and everything.

What the wind has seen is the beginning until this day,

It has seen all that has changed.

The formation of man and all that stands,

What the wind has seen is a never ending journey.

HOME YOU GO

Close your eyes and open your mind,

Take a trip, home you go back to the snow.

You were only a child, a young boy back then,

Not so long ago to remember again.

Woods of trees, Christmas times that can never again be,

Icicles hanging from the rooftops, snowmen at your feet.

Watch as it falls, snowballs made from the ground,

Grapes hanging on vines, friends back in time.

From thoughts you’ll see the house where you once lived,

See it from so long ago, life was beautiful,

Leave it there, any pain or sorrow, bury it deep in the snow.

It lives in your mind, let the sadness go,

Remember a place called Amesbury, for an uncle named Joe.

SOMEONE CRIES

Through all joy in the world there is laughter heard,

Celebrations of weddings, birthdays, and life lived.

Out there somewhere a cry echoes through the woods,

A cry that comes from a bedroom, who will even care.?

Listen close for that silent cry that’s not noticed in the night,

Someone cries over a lost child and suffers through much pain.

Saying goodbye has always a reason to cry, tears fill the eyes,

Someone cries day and night, cries of happiness, those of delight.

IF I COULD DO IT AGAIN

Never thinking about it as a child, growing as a teen not yet,

Is our path chosen, a small part but it is our choices that conquer.

Where we go or end up later in life is a decision from within us,

Hopefully we get the chance to do what it is we love and are happy.

Oh! if i could do it again i would change many things about myself,

If i could go back in time I would wonder more about the future.

A better attitude could have changed some of my grief, only some,

I may have been in a different place emotionally and the world.

Tried much harder to keep my friends no matter where i went,

Being better to myself would not have changed who i am but saved me.

We can’t go back and do it again, a reason for this, something to learn,

If i could do it again, some things left alone, things are suppose to be as they are.
