THINGS I HAVE SEEN

Born with these eyes that for a lifetime have seen,

Wonderful pictures of a world that seem like a dream.

Things I have seen are those of beauty and life combined,

Things I have seen are of darkness and quite horrible things.

Things I have seen should not have been there to ever see,

Not from eyes of the Innocent child whom hasn’t had time to dream.

Things I have seen are of hope, love, and courageous thiings,

Things I have seen are of views from so many different ways.

The things I have seen of mystery and unusual scenery,

A lifetime that makes up a movie of all that I am to be.

IT FELL FROM THE SKY

It was a clear, warm, starry night, i was feeling alright,

Quiet as the crickets were singing from the dark.

My dog barking at whatever roams in the night,

I find myself here in the country, beautiful as it is.

No complaints in this place away from the noisy world,

For a moment a strange silence came over my surroundings.

My dog was barking but what it was could not be seen by me,

Suddenly the wind not seen howled across the open land.

Dust was blowing, no sound of anything else could be heard,

A rumbling could be heard while the ground shook violently.

A high pitched noise echoed from everywhere, my eyes stared,

A bright light flashed in the night, I saw this, it fell from the sky.

WHEN THE SMOKE CLEARS

All that i had, everything i loved engulfed in a fireball blaze,

Set to flames day, by day, over time combustible by a heated pain.

There was a time when things were cool and calm all around,

Not a threat or danger of a wind that would kick up a spark.

The warning was there but didn’t want to take notice,

Thinking this storm of such a disaster might take another path.

This wall of fire was burning its own trail heading straight for my world,

Shocking to me as now it was too late, upon me so real, no way to make this go away.

Just stood and watched as all around me came crumbling down,

Trying hard to pick up the pieces, much to hot, for now still burns.

Something to perhaps salvage when the smoke clears,

A chance to rebuild, a chance to start over.

I’M HERE!

My wagon went off the road, It turned upside down and I’m hurt,

The weather Is good so I lay here In the sun of the day In much pain.

Looking around I see the damage, my supplies are everywhere scattered,

There are people counting on me but I am where not a heart will see me.

As I stare up to the sky I see hawks circling about, not today I say,

I’m alive!, there must soon be another wagon on the road passing by.

The crows are getting at the ripped open bags of seed, I throw my empty canteen,

My friends, the town must be searching for me now, I will be found alive.

Time passes by, please find me before the light turns to the dark of night,

A sound, a rumble getting closer, I try to let out a yell but I’m very weak,

I’m here!, with one burst of energy I scream, I’m here!, I’m here!.

A HANDSHAKE AND YOUR WORD

Does it still exist, is it real, remember a time when,

From so long ago when you learned to trust a man.

A handshake and your word was good enough for the day,

Times changed and a lot of that got lost with a changing world.

We became less of neighbors, keeping to ourselves, doors locked,

Now it seems that a handshake comes after a signed piece of paper.

Has its meaning become less, a firm handshake back in time was the best,

And your word, what is the worth of your word as you promise away.

We trust less now just as it must be fore if we trust we may get burned,

Make sure there is a witness to a handshake and your word, be weary.

WANDERING IN THE DARK

There have been times in my life when i have stumbled, fallen,

I have always picked myself up and endured what has happened.

I have wandered in the dark many times in my life, not in the physical sense,

At times lost and alone was i as a child growing up, a sense of fear filled me.

Being shy, not very big as there were bullies of the world lurking in the shadows,

Wandering in the dark as i could not see the possibilities or answers all around me.

To be strong mentally, to achieve by pushing on, overcome obstacles never so great,

When you can understand that you need not fear another man as he like you is of flesh and blood,

Stand strong just as once a man of flesh and blood stood for what he believed, possibly some fear.

To wander in the dark comes in many forms, to find the light, see it, takes a little wisdom, strength,

And a belief in yourself that you are as important, special, and faith will guide you by the hand.

MY SHORT STORY

There was a day when i wrote my first poem, a bad day,

Nineteen ninety seven, sitting on the floor, desperation.

Never did i really write before, never a poetic word,

About my children i wrote the words my fight.

Framed it and never stopped, always written on paper,

No computer owned at this time in my life, written words.

With time and thoughts it wasn’t long before stacks formed,

In two thousand and three i developed slowly anxiety problems.

I kept writing, finally my first computer and away i went, typing,

At the same time, while i was typing out all of my poems, i wrote.

Today i have many full portfolio’s of poetry typed and a lot with pictures,

Halloween, Christmas, Western, much assorted about the world and i

Even have a Bruce Springsteen poetry book. each one with a picture to them.

Having a blog has helped me so much, i was encouraged by a certain writer of books,

Thank you all for your support, opinions, and of course your reading, my short story.

OF YOU I DREAMED

Last night, i saw you walking with me, everything seemed right,

We walked along the breezy shore, sadness was no more.

These things i dreamed of you last night, feel what was in my sight,

We held hands in the moonlight, you were my beautiful wife.

You danced with me under the evening stars, you are my dream,

Eyes that meet are soon to be, this i could see, you and me.

Of you i dreamed of many special things, join me in my dream,

Our love would be forever, beyond the sunset of our lives.

Of you i dreamed that your pain and sorrow was mine,

Inhale it into my heart and soul, take this from my beautiful girl.

Of you i dreamed that soon it be not a dream.

THERE ONCE LIVED A MAN

Many lifetimes ago their lived a youthful man,

He worked hard, he did all that a man can.

On his farm, awoke when the rooster said,

Watched the sunrise, breakfast began his day.

A simple man whom worked hard on his land,

Crops in the field, a little money in his hand.

He had a wife with a pretty smile,

She was there when the day was done,

As he walked in from the setting sun.

Supper on the table, tired was this man and wife,

A warm fire and some conversation till sleep set in their eyes.

Children were grown, an adventure of their own,

A mother, a father, in a home now alone,

Their once was a man whom loved all that he had.

A NEW PARADISE

I sit back and think of the possibility that we may start again,

If not here then is there some other place of peace and happiness.

In the beginning we hear about a garden, it disappeared from us,

A new paradise where we can hear the birds sing without trouble on the horizon.

Listen to the wind without the painful, tragic, sounds of sirens,

A wonderful island, a new world where we are equal in every way.

Money holds no meaning in this paradise home where not a soul walks alone,

Food so plenty, pains of hunger never again in this new paradise where all are friends.

Sickness no more, no worries of a cure that were learned about many years before,

A place that sounds familiar, written in story books, a fantasy not believed,

Believe in this as once such a place did exist, a lesson learned if so happens again.
