Beneath the sunlight she sat shaded under a giant oak tree,
Sitting there, her brown hair moving with the Autumn breeze.
She did not move, a smile on her face as she appeared to be enjoying the day,
Passing by i gave a smile and a wave, she gave no response.
Bothered as i felt, i stopped and said hello but from her lips was no answer,
Rude was my thought but maybe she did not wish to be bothered.
I was now curious so again i smiled and again no response, she did not look at me,
I did appologize but it appeared she did not want to listen, she just sat there.
There seemed to be much peace within her but why so quiet and unfriendly,
I think she just wanted to be left alone but maybe there was more.
The wind blew and i saw her move, she smelled the air, eyes closed,
There was the bark of a dog, she did not notice, a bird at her feet, she did not see.
When i asked of her name she did not speak, Sitting under a tree, now i see.

Helen Keller comes to mind. Anne Sullivans are rare finds, in any generation. If you’ve met one, your life was remarkably changed for the better, even if you were in possession of all of your senses. How often we are missing just one, and the one that is absent isn’t usually listed with the ordinary ones. It adds a new dimension to all of the others. It is called intuitive thinking and feeling. Helen had it. Anne had it. And together, they changed each others lives.
Thanks for reading and for your thoughts.

Interesting from a woman’s point of view! Would you have had the same response if this had been a man sitting under a tree?
This is beautiful!! Very well written. The image that this poem creats is simply wonderful! :’)
Loved this piece, though for a minute I thought her name was “Keith Garrett.”
My immediate thought was, “What an awful name for a woman to have!”
