UNDER THE PECAN TREE
A place where he wanted to one day be for eternity burried,
Together we had a life, adventures that you wouldn’t believe.
Rangers, Texas rangers in a time of much wilderness land,
Not enough law to stop murderers and thieves, this is my story.
Once we were young, deciding that law and order must be done,
We rode on horses fighting the Indians although they fought for survival.
What was worse them or the white man whom would fight one another,
Kill and steal, hate and destroy to take all that they could without heart.
Together we grew older, friends with an understanding, although we disagreed,
We felt we did what was right, a lifetime of loneliness and sacrifice.
Quite an adventure we had together, we saw the country change,
We both lived a good, long life, a day came when one of us had to say goodbye, it would be I.
My good friend, the only true friend, he would leave with an asking promise,
Take me back, far away, when Spring comes take me to that place in Texas.
I promise you my friend, he traveled two thousand miles to rest his friend
Under the Pecan tree.
