YOU WERE THERE

Walking along the open road, a breeze in my face,

Hills around me, trees of beautiful color reaching high.

You were there within the trees, you walked with me,

Somewhere in those hills, within that cool breeze.

Listened did I to the birds singing as they rest on branches,

The grass along the land did sway to the invisible wind.

You were there, did you sing with the birds of beauty,

Was it you who made the grass dance in the hills?

The sky that spreads far and wide, scattered clouds float by,

Ghostly shadows, wandering imprints of that which passes.

You were there, I imagine it was you drifting by, touching the sky,

Your wandering imprint passed through me, you were there.
