WHEN YOU WENT AWAY

WHEN YOU WENT AWAY

Hey! Mom, I remember you from yesterday,

Today you are in another place, a different space.

Wherever you are, near or far, peace rests with you,

When you went away, with you went your special face.

I once saw you on a rainy day, you were gone before the sun went away,

You are kept alive with all that I write, forever walk at my side.

Mom, I did not see you enough as for granted we take, a price we pay,

Thinking you would forever be, a fantasy from a child I once did see.

  1. “When you went away, with you went your special face.” This line though. Wow! I realize it’s in remembrance of your special person but it made me feel it could also be interpreted in another loss – the aftermath of betrayal. Look for a piece from me on this, Keith. Thank you.
