IF NO SIGHT HAD I

IF NO SIGHT HAD I

Suddenly, so suddenly, my eyes, they could no longer see,

Where did everything go, what am I to become, I’m blind.

Darkness, only darkness can be my world now, to be afraid,

Never again a sunny day, the night visits me repeatedly.

If no sight had I there would be many new thoughts’ and adventures,

The wind I would hear as I did before, my Imagination would create.

Pictured scenes of what It was doing.

Music would still be heard although my mind could see the story

A song might tell with Its’ words’,

A television show now only to be heard, no picture book to go with.

A kiss could still be placed upon her lips’, no sight or sound do I need,

Feelings’ here are what will be needed and a little sense of touch.

If no sight had I, life would be just fine.

THE RIDER

“THE RIDER”

He’ll ride In the morning, through the day travels the road,

High up on the hills a shadow beneath the clouds, he rides.

Into the wind, the rain blowing against his face, he rides,

The snow falls as through the mountain passes he Is moving.

A man with no name, throughout the land maybe a glimpse,

He’s known only as the rider carrying whatever for hire.

This horse he rides with colors of solid black and white spots,

A demon creature, wicked with speed like the wind.

Brown and black hat worn on his head gives a mysterious appearance,

A coat so long for cover and warmth shields him from weather, the rider.

Boots on his feet of dark, broken In pattern can be noticed In the stirrups,

This man of the land rides and rides just he and his faithful companion.

Like a ghost so quiet he roams the wild wilderness of life,

He’s known as the rider, Into the night he rides.

FLOATING

FLOATING

I stand not on the ground but from where I am I can not stand,

From so far In the sky, I fly, fly without wings’ within the clouds’.

There’s no feeling above me as below, no solid ground to touch,

Living things’ of few roam this land, large as It seems neverending.

Down, down so fast but a feeling of weightlessness as If a feather,

Falling, falling from where I flew, where once this man stood.

Closer and closer I can with my eyes see life waiting for me,

Back to where I once stood, down from where I once stood.

For only minutes but what seems like forever a dream,

Floating, merely floating down, back to my reality.

DOES THE SKY DREAM?

DOES THE SKY DREAM?

The sky Is always night somewhere In our world,

Does It dream as It sleeps’ there where It rests’.

Awake as It does to the morning sunlight,

In another place, It goes to bed again for the night.

There are friends’ all around this wide open space,

That watch over each other In Its’ universe.

Does the sky dream,? always as It exists’,

What would It say If to us It spoke.?

TOBY

“TOBY”

He was my friend, he would always know when I was near,

My presence was felt by this dark haired boy, he would sound out.

Walking Into his kingdom was such a pleasure of mine, he almost smiled,

Through the window, his eyes would find me, waited he did for me to see.

An excitement for this beautiful friend when I showed up to visit,

The love In his eyes sparkled, he knew I understood, I loved him.

Outside we would play, running or throwing a ball or just sitting,

I miss him, I wonder If he could possibly remember anything at all.

To see him again, possibly one day, his name Is Toby.

I HAVE A NAME

I HAVE A NAME!

I am a man whom Is strong and feeling, I am,

When my road Is traveled’ then power Is felt.

Hopes and dreams’ keep me In stride, my dreams’,

Children have I by the number of three, yes these three.

Once there was a wife, then a woman loved by me,

She enters’ my world but not often enough, better than not.

Life puts In front of this soul many beautiful things’,

Stand alone do I as my search continues for her.

The sun rises which Is a wonderful gift to see,

Another day to wonder about dreams’ dreamed.

I have a name.

TODAY, TOMORROW, AND FOREVER

” TODAY, TOMORROW, AND FOREVER”

Today It Is that I awake to a new life, a new morning, this morning,

Yesterday doesn’t need me anymore, she holds’ no place In her heart.

Dreams’ die hard fore wishes are merely a fairy tale, make believe,

Float do I on a cloud of hope and prayer, seeing my world day to day.

Does tomorrow wait for me, If so, look forward to my visit I will,

Not yet written, what words’ does It have for me, does It hold for me a story.

Forever In this world I can’not be, I will fade away, a memory I must be,

Today, tomorrow, and forever, there will always be, a forever awaits me.

BOOK OF FAITH

“BOOK OF FAITH”

I’d like to read to you a story, sit back and listen dear friend,

This Is about a man whom has lost and found things of happiness.

He Is not a wise man although at times he knows of wisdom,

He Is not an angry man but anger lives within his spirit.

This man walks a road of at times fear and confidence lost,

Happiness Is that which he so much wants to hold onto but there

Are those moments when to be happy can be a struggle, a search.

He Is a man of Inner strength, he possesses no surrender,

Will not give up,

There are those times when weakness attacks and the battle rages.

He holds In him close to his heart, faith that all will be as It should,

That things will turn out, God willing the way he Intended.

This man has much love In him as he did and still loves but will

Again love.

To live on his own, too live his life and again share his time with

Another.

This Is my story, this Is my book of faith told only to you dear

Friend,

Keep It with you always, may the lord bless and watch over you

As your road Is traveled each and every day Into the rest of your life.

Love always, Keith Garrett

UNBREAKABLE

“UNBREAKABLE”

Look at me, bruised and battered, kicked but I will not fall,

The smile on my face stripped away, smile again, smile.

Push me, shove me, like the boxer I will stand and be recognized,

The fight does not end until one can’not stand any longer, I will not fall.

Happiness at times has deserted this alone man, It has come back to me,

The way, the path to my heart It does know, yes! home It has come.

I’ve cracked, I have been stomped upon but I will not be defeated,

I’m a strong and powerful being, you can’not destroy the unbreakable.

Look at me, stare Into these fiery eyes, there’s more than you know,

I’m unbreakable, I am unbreakable, listen, listen, you can’not hurt me.

HE TOLD ME OF HIS LIFE

As he sat down in his rocking chair he began to speak,

With a smile, he invited me to sit and went about his story.

His life as a child at the beginning of a war for Independence,

On a farm in South Carolina, he lived with a father, brothers, sisters.

He went on to tell of adventures in the Summer just before it happened,

A big house, great times with family, working the farm each day was tiring.

He must have been about ninety years old now, the war and those days long gone,

A childhood recalled, swimming in the pond with a friend or two, the night’s moon.

He told me of this war being all around them, nothing would be the same, much change,

Tears in his eyes as he described that time and place where brothers and family died.

He sits in his chair today, many years away from there, he lives in that house today,

He sits in his chair on that porch where as a child he played, he told me of his life.
