OLD FRIENDS

OLD FRIENDS

As children they played, growing up in the same town,

Running in the park, playing games in the dark.

Going to school, swimming in the same backyard pool,

Singing songs, listening to music they both loved.

Sleepovers, laughing late into the night,

Going to movies, Friday and Saturday nights.

They rode their bikes to many sites,

A coke and a comic book were a delight.

Throwing a football, baseball in the park,

Being kids was what life was about.

Hanging out together in a time of youth,

Those days are gone but never forgotten.

These things I say are true to all that once played,

Through generations and lifetimes,

Here’s to old friends never forgotten.

MOTHER IN HEAVEN

MOTHER IN HEAVEN

Time drifts forward as your hourglass had just emptied,

You left here in quite a hurry, not much of a word had you.

You’re voice you kept quiet, tell me the pain you were going through,

Secretly it was you who suffered in sorrow, there was for you no tomorrow.

Only but a moment to say goodbye, you left us all without a cry,

Did you give up, was the torment from another much too much?

Was grief a nightmare, were you tired and needed to get away,

You let not a loved one know, Mother in Heaven, I’m angry today.

NOT MY SPIRIT CAN AN OPINION BREAK

NOT MY SPIRIT CAN

AN OPINION BREAK

It’s amazing, a person can do their very best,

Feeling good about themselves, believing they succeeded.

Behind your back, it’s said with judgment, without thinking,

Sometimes just an opinion, speaking without thought.

Anger can grow from words of a mouth of ignorance,

When we know of this to be an untruth then why is it that we react.?

A lesson learned, calmness must be observed,

Words can not hurt, opinions will never die.

We have no control over others, only ourselves,

It is we who are the masters of how and what Affects our day.

This phrase I will learn from as I go my way.

OH MY GOD

OH MY GOD!

At times is it that i don’t quite understand,

Do i hear the words spoken but perhaps do not listen.

Maybe I don’t sometimes see although I possess sight,

Do you think inside of me the anger lives much to long.

Am I missing a piece of happiness that is so close, I can’not see,

My mind is always spinning, I seem to have not much peace.

I watch the world from where I am and don’t like what I see,

I can’not change all that is bad but I can change some things in me.

Oh my god! I do believe you know the answers to what I have thought,

I do believe from long ago that you knew where our world was heading.

You gave free will, we have a choice but mankind has taken for granted,

The beauty and gift of this life, is it too late for all to change what’s damaged.

NOT A MEMORY HAS THE SEA

NOT A MEMORY HAS THE SEA

Covers the sea, crashes against the land with force,

Since the beginning of its creation has not sat still.

Touches life as it moves, like the ticking of time,

Never stops, never remembering where it’s been.

It does not think, there is no thought out plan,

Although each day and every moment, a routine just as man.

It can be touched, felt, you can never take hold,

Power and energy as it never grows old.

Not a memory has the sea, friendly or mean,

Its magic and mystery free to be,

NOT A MEMORY HAS THE SEA

MYTHICAL GHOSTS

MYTHICAL GHOSTS
Keith Garrett
In our minds do they live, exist only in our dreams,

Gaze out into the night, beyond the stars in the dark.

Remember as a child you would put a tooth under your pillow,

As you slept a fairy would visit and replace it with riches.

Mother nature we do not see as a mortal but live within her,

She is known by all with the changing seasons of time.

As you drift off into slumber it is he who watches over,

A man who possesses a dreaming sand for a believer.

Grants does he the gift of love so fine from an arrow,

Only Imagine this ghost fore he is forever cupid.

He’s as old as the universe, he’s of the beginning,

He knows of life, the name is father time.

A cold sort of spirit, he exists from a myth,

When the freeze of night comes, lives does Jack Frost.

Eggs in a basket, colored and decorated for a child,

Jelly beans and treats from an Easter bunny not seen.

Last but not least, a jolly old man with a beard so white,

He gives to the world on Christmas eve, Santa Claus.

MY STORY I TELL, HE SAILED THE SEAS

MY STORY I TELL,

HE SAILED THE SEAS

My father, he was a sailing man on the Newport News, a navy man,

He stood on a ship across the seas to foreign lands before I knew of he.

Oh father dear, just what things did you see,

Around the world you traveled so long ago.

Father of mine, what were you like as a boy,

Did you dream of the sea, did you dream like me?

I know you wrote of poetry, words today I write like thee,

You traveled around the Korean war,

It didn’t do you in as this land did.

Were you drunk or were you blind when you stood so high above the ocean shore,

What were your thoughts, were you thinking at all,

Why didn’t you hide from the deadly fall?

You’re up in the sky in heaven so high, daddy dear please tell me why,

You died to young, you left me behind,

The more I think of you, the older I find.

You were a navy man, you’re sailing again, across the heavenly seas is where you be.

MY MIND IS AN ISLAND

MY MIND IS AN ISLAND

My mind is an island, many places to roam,

Different things that I see when i’m on my own.

If wander I do to far away,

Lost might I be in this land made for me.

See as I do and think as I may,

There are beautiful things in my thoughts every day.

I can find my way back to where it is I should be,

If I’m looking the right way or a trail I might leave.

My island can be peaceful and sunny or stormy and dark,

I’d rather be happy and have my island be a walk in the park.

MAY YOUR DAYS ALWAYS BE THE BEST

MAY YOUR DAYS ALWAYS BE THE BEST

Hear this as I may have never spoken these words before,

May your days be plenty with a long, and wonderful life ahead.

Awake each morning to all the hope and happiness there could be,

My thought is that god blesses all good things upon you as you see your day.

May stress be a forgotten enemy far away into yesterday,

May your days always be the best wherever you are.

Walking in the sunshine is something so fine,

Dream the things that may be a life changing possibility.

Laugh as much as you can, worry put aside for as much as you can,

Feel the cool breeze, love the warmth of the sun upon your face.

The best you can do is believe in yourself and never give up,

There may not always be a rainbow but the searching never stops.

May your days always be the best as you strive to find your way,

Day by day we can always take the time to hope and pray.

MAY I HAVE A DRINK OF WATER

MAY I HAVE A DRINK OF WATER?

In search of water, will I have to travel any further,

The Summer is quite hot and I am very thirsty.

For granted we have taken the rain that fills the lakes,

See the lakes as they sink lower, a hole in the ground one day.

The waterfalls so beautiful fall down with cool splashes we see,

Watch as they trickle, drying up, no more will they be but a dream.

Rivers and streams are places of beauty that never cease to be,

Take a look as before your eyes they slowly dry and go forever away.

May I have a drink of water? will it ever again rain, what happened to the rain?

If ever again a cloud in the sky, pray that drops of water don’t pass us by.
