MY FIGHT

MY FIGHT MARCH, 1998

I sit at night, and realize the fight,

for which I have in my sight.

To have my children at my side,

I will have to sacrifice each day and night.

If I am to win my fight,

I will have to make things right.

Why is it that I sit at night,

To think about the fight in sight?

I wish that I could sleep at night,

Instead of thinking about my fight.

When I think about my children tonight,

Then I know my fight is right.

When my children are at my side,

Then it’s time to end my fight.

For my children;

Sean Christopher Garrett 7yrs.

Scott Ryan Garrett 4 yrs.

Sarah Renee Garrett 2 yrs.

I love you,

Dad

HE CAME FROM NOWHERE

HE CAME FROM NOWHERE

Not a clue of who he really was, his name not sure,

It is said he came from nowhere, a tall man of strength.

He spoke always in a manner of calm and peace,

You could not enrage him, a confident look upon his face.

Softly spoken words but a lethal weapon, you can be sure,

There is no record of him, a mystery from where he came,

He was very fast, he was there and then he was not.

He came from nowhere, a powerful man who did want peace,

In the end, he stood tall, a trail of death he left, not evil was he.

A FACE THAT LIES

A FACE THAT LIES

The devil’s eyes have a face that lies,

It smiles at you with promises so false.

Giving you gifts of sinful things,

Changing your appearance, a picture of greed and evil.

It taunts you into believing that bad is good,

Material belongings are most precious, love not kind.

Stand and be recognized, a face that lies,

Don’t stare in the eyes of what does not cry.

Accept not a wish, not a gift from a demon spirit,

Give not of yourself, in an instance, he’ll own your soul.

A face that lies has many by his side,

They walk as you walk, do not be fooled, this is no heavenly stroll to the sky.

A MAN WITH AN AX

A MAN WITH AN AX

Wood needs to be chopped, it sits waiting, many types and sizes,

Fall is in the air, chillier the air turns, work must be done.

A job it is to chop enough wood to warm a home for the Winter,

Must be done, perhaps no fun as it is an accomplishment to be proud.

Stack it in a pile, carry it piece by piece, chopped and split wood for a fire,

A smell, can you take it in, smell the aroma as it’s cut, stronger it grows.

A man with an ax gets this job done, he sweats from morning till the setting sun,

Swinging an ax, working as the cold moves closer,

The wood pile will rise higher.

A man with an ax is strong and determined,

He will succeed because he knows of its need,

When it’s done, a Winter of warmth,

When the setting sun, he knows the job is done.

CHILD WITHIN

CHILD WITHIN

Run and run until the day was done, fun in the sun,

Not a care, chasing butterflies within the wind.

A book that’s numbered beginning with one until it’s done,

I played in the sun, playing and laughing with children no more.

A child within an adult that would one day find a way out,

Child within, the older we get always seeking a part we once were.

Our faces do change, lines appear in the light, older by night,

Hair turns color as the seasons turn into years, eyes show more.

One less fear, a new one is here, another tear, dried with the years,

I see where I’ve been, we all walk our ongoing road, we have a child within.

AN ALWAYS CHANGING SKY

AN ALWAYS CHANGING SKY

A light shade of gray evenly covering that which lives below,

Clouds so heavy and thick with moisture ready to rain down.

In the early evening as the sun fades many shades of color,

After dark, on a clear, starry night you can see forever high.

Big, white fluffy clouds of many shapes sitting still above your head,

With the wind, you’ll see their shapes change and drift slowly away.

Thunder and lightning visit a dark, stormy day, the sun is there,

Hiding beyond the blanket of nature, the sun still shines without sight.

An always changing sky, never the same throughout any given day,

The sky is always there, it is the elements that move through and change it.

THE MEANING OF LIFE AND THE WORLD ACCORDING TO ME

THE MEANING OF LIFE

AND

THE WORLD ACCORDING TO ME

Does God have a plan, what is his plan, could this be his experiment,

From our first breath until our last breath there is life in between.

The mystery of why we are here is perhaps over thought, what is this life,

We walk and dream in this short existence known to us as forever.

The meaning of life appears very simple and not so confusing dear one,

Sit back and listen as I give my heartfelt thoughts of where we are and why.

Watch the trees, see them dance against the unseen but softly felt breeze,

Do you believe what has been put before you and me, understand the gift?

Love and laughter, pain and sorrow, must be a feeling for all to know,

All that lives is born to die, from the beginning of time we age and say goodbye.

See the mountain and walk its path, step by step, time will pass into tomorrow,

The sky travels, it is the clouds that guide the way, see all things that are dreamed.

The ocean will be, after on this earth you and I are but a memory, hear the ocean,

Put your feet into the sandy beach, feel the sand, walk along the timeless shore.

Touch another’s heart with the love and care that is possessed by you, reach out,

Let go of the tears of many years with a forgiving smile that lasts a lifetime.

If we see the sunrise, will we see the sunset again the same day,

Are we blind, do we take for granted the beauty of our world?

When it rains do we cry about that which falls down upon us, do we wonder why,

Listen for the sound, take in the drops of life that take us way on down the road.

The meaning of life and the world according to me is from inside all that this man may see,

God has laid these truly wondrous things before us, to see, to dream all that can be.

From this heart to you.

WHICH WAY TO HEAVEN?

WHICH WAY TO HEAVEN

Excuse me kind sir! could you please tell me which way to heaven,?

I have spent almost a lifetime In search of, wondering where It might be.

I just like you do not know where It might be although I have thoughts of wonder,

I believe It begins with the heart Inside and which road It Is that you travel.

But sir, I do have a kind heart but what do you mean by the road In which I travel,

Are there clues that I haven’t seen, Am I missing something on my journey.

Your road, the path that you choose, the way your life Is lived, are you a believer,?

You don’t need clues but you are missing something on your journey, look Inside.

Kind sir!, thank you for your time, but I did not get your name as we came upon each other,

I had my name and you will learn to follow the same road I once did, see you In heaven.

KEEPER OF THE LIGHT

KEEPER OF THE LIGHT

Up in the air, he spreads his wings,

He stretches to the heavens and sees many things.

This god of the sun, KEEPER OF THE LIGHT,

Soars in the sky on an eternal flight.

So peaceful is he, away up so high,

Forever and ever this spirit will fly.

Keeper of the light, what do you see,?

Beyond the sun, a mystery to me.

Through the wind, you travel round, and round,

Watching over this star, from you there’s no sound.

I can only imagine you’re a spectacular sight,

Fly way up high, keeper of the light.

MYSTERY OF HER SONG

MYSTERY OF HER SONG

Many years before, she sang a song, he watched himself Gavotte,

Who was this song about, Carly sang loud?

The possibility that there were three so vain,

There was one in her thought’s, knows of him today.

As she lives, they still live and have not yet gone away,

Much older today but the song still plays.

A clue as Mick danced the Gavotte, a rolling stone,

Jack and Warren, they were vain hung out at a place of the same.

Mystery of her song, she does not speak out loud,

Who was so vain, was she so angry, Carly remembers you’re so vain.
