FENCES

“FENCES”

God created heaven and earth so that we could live together,

I was thinking as i walked down the street, i looked at a fence,

Touching it with my hands i realized a man would have to climb,

To get to the other side he would have to go beyond where was legal.

This is my space!, you can’t come near it, since the beginning of time,

The world was meant to share, be free to roam, we started building fences.

Around our land, fences to keep others out and mark our territory,

It’s all been broken up into pieces, always a fight that leads to war.

How can any one man or nation own a piece of the sky, stay away they say,

Beyond the sky, do we all have a right to it or is it claimed by the powerful.

Stay away from here!, this is my ocean, be warned or we go to war, do you hear.?

No drink of water for you, someone else owns this lake, river, or stream,

Dirt is not free anymore, there’s a price to be paid, money to be made.

Be careful as soon the air we breathe will not be free, who takes charge i wonder,

If we lived as one and shared the land, there would be room for every soul and man.

AN ANGRY MAN

Anger, so much mistrust for the world, he’s angry,

That which he can’not control, bothers him so.

Nothing wrong with letting it out, control is what it’s about,

Angry at that which has passed, let this go, an angry man knows.

Feeling at times the universe has let him down, the fire rages,

Inside he feels the water boil, what to do when there’s no place to run.

He pounds his fists against the stone wall, thoughts of vengeance stir,

Get even is one of many stories made from a mans angry mind.

An angry man does not see the road clearly, thinking is altered,

Eats him up inside, wasted energy but how is he to do it right.?

He has been wronged, he is an angry man and needs a smart plan,

An angry man he can be, can an angry man soon find his peace.

A SAD SITUATION

A little bit different, a lonely child was she,

Her mother so out of touch, a young girls misery.

Shy and feeling so alone, not much of a happy home,

She did not fit in at school, something else about her.

They would tease and torment her, watch as her anger grew,

A sad situation for a girl who trusted very few.

The hurt in her heart would never mend, soon the end,

So different was she, this child no more to be.

DARKNESS

Beauty exists within it, things we can’not see,

It brings to me peace and solitude, I feel at ease.

The less I see brings me a calmness not felt by day,

Darkness can be such a scary place or peaceful.

There are those whom must live with darkness,

Some are however in a darkened place.

Darkness is a friend to others and foe to another,

Darkness holds something for each in this world.

ALONG A COUNTRY ROAD

These things I might find strolling along a country road,

From my mind I can create a day or reality along my way.

I see the sun rising in the early morning sky, my day begins,

Dream do I of a perfect setting, fields and hills of beautiful color.

Nothing can go wrong, not in this made up scene that I want to be,

Swim do I in a pond that appears along a country road, quiet and alone.

There is a wind blowing through the trees, across the field I feel,

Hay stacks scattered in a country dream, a farm where I wish too be,

Along a country road all possibilities unfold, from a dream, all that can be seen.

AND THEN THERE WERE NONE

A fight for survival, mans quest for power to rule,

Fear and ignorance but money will be the tool.

Inventors of destruction, builders of a force,

The enemy is our brother, traitor to the land.

Which side are we on, who is on our side,

Conflict and hatred, how many must have to die.?

And then there were none, not much left to say,

Put the bombs away, we may have another day.

INVISIBLE MOMENTS

Not to be seen, noticed among the crowded streets,

Too walk a chosen road, dreaming and not seen.

Just a little time to be left alone, on my own,

Not a sound i’ll make or attention i’ll create.

Invisible moments, there will be no picture or scene,

No description of a man, all around me will be.

At times not to be before these eyes anything,

Not an unwanted sound, nothing all around.

The soul needs moments of peace, a slower pace,

Escape from the fast pace of the human race.

Invisible moments, quiet times under a forgotten tree,

In an empty field of grass, i’m not known to be.

I CAN HEAR YOU

you are somewhere, everywhere, and here, they do not know,

You can not be seen, not by me but I know that you are there.

This came upon me one day in a fast way, an accident for me,

A curse or gift we will see, I am afraid of that which can not be seen.

I can hear you, thought I was losing my mind, voices in my head,

You are in between here and there, you speak to me as I do not see.

You are all around, I hear you as your sound echoes throughout,

I can hear you, you do see me, it is you that can not be seen.

THIS IS THE TRUTH

The morning sky is so beautiful but pollution lingers,

We are free to wander the land with trash at our feet.

The hills and mountains are alive, fire destroys, things die,

Rivers and lakes are there, they disappear without rain.

Giant trees have stood for so long, one by one, they are falling,

There is a struggle between nature and man, not a winner is there.

This is the truth as our world spins and turns, we are all here,

A mysterious gathering of life, the Earth grows smaller everyday.

A MOMENT IN TIME

A speck of dust, just a trickle of water,

Soon would blow with the wind and dry into nothing.

Our time is now for we are a whisper wanting to be heard,

A short period for laughter, remembered for what we leave.

For so long has time existed, the world, the universe so large,

We are but a fragment, a particle of all that was created.

A moment in time was this gift we were given from god above,

A moment to see and love all there is to understand from this.

Where we go from here we shall not know, but hold no fear,

Like many fallen leaves from a tree, we are one, we disappear.
