IF I COULD MAKE IT ALRIGHT

My eyes i would give you and be blind so you could see,

So that you could hear the sounds of the world, deaf i would be.

I would give up my voice that you may sing out your song,

Hold onto your hand when the pain of life becomes too strong.

If i could make it alright, any sickness for you would be my fight,

If i could make it alright, my sleep i would lose so you may restthrough the night.

My heart is mine just as your heart belongs to you,

If i could make it alright then know that my heart i would give to you.

The ultimate gift would be to give so that another could live,

If your heart did cease to beat then my life i would give to you.

I KNOW YOU ARE SOMEWHERE

I KNOW YOU ARE SOMEWHERE

I know you are there Art, I wonder where you are, how are you?

Are you alright? Do you understand what has happened? are you near or far?

It seems you have gone away, was the sun shining? what were your thoughts of this day?

I remember when once we met on a sunny Yorba Linda day, you were young, life was okay,

Those were the days of innocence, we were safe to what was coming our way, chances we take.

A smile you had always on your face, from day to day you aged as we all did, today you went away,

I know you are somewhere, I can feel it as I imagine you traveling to a far off unimaginable place.

You were here, could it be that you are still around, I thought I heard you laugh, remembering the sound,

You left your mark, a reason heaven needed you now, I saw you yesterday Art, It seems so long ago.

Many friends were yours, I think at times you didn’t understand, you were born on a day, with god you now stand,

I’ll always remember and think of you dear friend when I recall those neverending Summer days so long ago.

I SAW YOU LAST NIGHT

I saw you last night, I saw you in a dream,

You were sitting alone, you were waiting for me.

I tried to reach you but you were too far away,

Sreamed out to you but you couldn’t hear what I was saying.

I know you were thinking as you move your foot,

A cigarette to your lips, gazing out into nothing.

The more you try to move you sit ever still,

I saw you last night, inside you were crying.

Burdened and stressed, tired and a want for only happiness,

This is you, you miss me as I miss you, this is true.

I saw you last night, I did, a dream or not.

WHAT’S WITHIN MYSELF

WHAT’S WITHIN MYSELF

I’m beginning to understand and too see,

The good that is inside this person that’s me.

There are many things about which i care,

About where i’m headed in a land of uncertainty.

Within me lies a man of strength,

Just a moment of weakness has taken from me.

A smile lives beneath, sometimes far down,

On the surface pain hidden behind the act of a clown.

What’s within myself a small boy trying to find,

A man that may survive in todays state of mind.

What’s within myself is a hope for a better tomorrow.

HEART OF A WINNER

HEART OF A WINNER
I’ve struggled In search of the worth of a man, to be a winner,

Questions I’ve asked, thoughts of the value from within the human heart.

Created not of money or material things, objects, treasures that we hold,

Born within us, no! not an Inherited trate, the heart of a winner.

In the morning awake do we to the rising sun, we’ve just begun,

From our nightly slumber we stand and face the day, each day.

What drives us, what moves us along, perhaps survival,

It Is the man, the woman whom strives to achieve In which we see.

To the mountain top we may never get but we’ll keep on climbing,

We do not stop fore one day a hope that It will be there,

Standing tall with your head held high, not In the physical sense.

But a feeling In the heart, a place In the mind,

To strum the guitar till the tune Is through, finish what you’ve started.

Shoes on your feet, each day a trek to work, at the end a mile home,

Not to win the game or conquer the fight.

Give It your all and sleep for the night.

I do not know where my road will take me, what I battle has no ending,

I stand here a winner for all that I have accomplished,

A winner Is one whom strives to make tomorrow a better day.

EYES IN THE NIGHT

What is it that lives beyond the light of day,

Lurks, wanders in the dark, exists in the night.

Search for food, a task that’s taken much for granted,

While we slumber in silence, eyes in the night survive.

Many are they that fly, quietly on the prowl this night,

Over fences there are the ones that move carefully, slowly.

Crawling along the ground, there’s a fight to see the morning light,

Scraps of food, nourishment for a chance to do it all over again.

So many eyes in the night, traveling along, the hunter or the hunted,

Big over the small, stronger defeats the weak, faster may just escape,

Eyes in the night, for many could be a scary sight, on this dark night.

WHO I AM

WHO I AM

From many things are who I am, a fearful child in a long lost land,

Things from me that were taken away back in time on a dark, sad, day,

A storm that circles all around, in its arms sometimes I am found.

A hurt that once was sent to me, by a trusted friend no more to be,

Inside to most i’m afraid to show, the good there is only for you to know.

On the outside a picture of strength you see, what’s on the inside sometimes fragile,

Never broken, shared with you but owned by me.

I have weaknesses but am not weak, It’s peace and happiness in the world I seek,

Who I am, this is I, maybe a tear sometimes a cry.

IF NO ONE COULD SEE

How would it be, what are your thoughts if no one could see,

Lights are on, the nights are dark, what’s the difference without sight.

There would be no color except that of black, Imagination was all you had,

How could you be a racist if your eyes were always closed, who would know.

If no one could see would the world be a better place for all to be,

We could learn to walk in peace, we would never have had to read.

We could speak and have much still to complain about,

We would not see what horror lives beyond our reach.

If no one could see then the beauty that lives would be a mystery,

There are several thoughts to these questions that i seek, tell me what you believe.

EVERYDAY

Everyday i wake whether there be sun or clouds,

I take in a breath fore i am so fortunate to have another.

The light of morning is shown to my ageing eyes,

Everyday i am grateful to see the sky, feel the wind go by.

Walking along the streets, through the park many sights,

This is my everyday, the birds visit my yard, nature plays.

To love and be loved is hoped for in ones life, a blessing,

Everyday holds no guarantees of anything but we keep the faith.

Everyday will not be forever, not until we travel off to heaven.

THE STARS ARE FADED

Do you remember what you said, one evening long ago,

When stars were in the sky and when we sauntered in the snow.?

Do you remember, darling, that you gave your love to me,

And that you told me it would last for all eternity.?

You said it would not matter if the world should disappear,

Your heart would still be faithful and your love would be sincere.

But now the stars are faded and the snow is not the same,

And empty is the echo when i call your gentle name.

The shadows lengthen in the night, the dawn is cold and gray,

And i must wonder to myself, why did you go away.?
