LET ME PRETEND

I am somewhere else, far away from this,

The only sound is of birds in the trees happily.

The crime filled streets and sirens are not with me,

There are no voices of thought to ruin my day I say.

Everything is much louder in the real world today,

Peace seems like a rare, lost, gift that will never be again.

Let me pretend that I am not here where there lives trash and fear,

A little bit better, just for a moment, let me pretend.

TAKE MY HEART!

The whole system has crossed the line, take my heart!

Desperate to save his dying son, does anyone care.

Valued only by the type of his insurance, take my heart!

The worth of his childs life becomes not much around a table.

Take my heart! he says, they say no, this is not how it works,

Policy and politics are a crime when it comes to a life.

He would sacrifice everything, risk his life for his son,

” You have no money” they say with such a look, take my heart!

People die everyday, just the way it is when your value is little,

A son survives, a hospital does not want to look bad,

Why could they not do this from the start, take my heart!

WHEN IT’S TIME TO STOP

Family and friends can be a complicated situation,

We grow up together in a house, a town, we travel together.

It seems like we would always be together but things change,

We grow and move away in different directions, times change.

As a child most of us probably thought the world was magic,

Life was forever, and nothing we had or people we knew would be lost.

Forgiveness is a great thing, letting go of anger and a grudge so wise,

Because we may one day not see a friend, speak with a loved one, or miss,

This is no reason to keep a relationship that is toxic or abusive.

Let the anger go, it’s tiring to the soul, a grudge not worth the time,

Just because we love doesn’t mean we have to stay in touch,

When it’s time to stop, nothing more to say, we don’t get along, that’s okay.

It’s not negativity or drama as some might say, letting go is a way,

Let’s just say it’s not about right or wrong, the relationship is gone.

DECEPTION

She, a mother and wife of a man she trusts,

He is a traveler of business to lands of the world,

Baseball cards become a clue, figure it out she will do.

A paper trail of money will lead her to a man she once knew,

Across many countries, she will seek him out, children at home.

A father who does not care, never a thought but money everywhere,

Deception, a most worthless type of human being, he does not see.

How can this be, he has a different reality, not things that you believe,

He is far away, leave him there, go home and start a life today.

HE CAME FROM NOWHERE

Not a clue of who he really was, his name not sure,

It is said he came from nowhere, a tall man of strength.

He spoke always in a manner of calm and peace,

You could not enrage him, a confident look upon his face.

Soft spoken words but a lethal weapon, you can be sure,

There is no record of him, a mystery from where he came,

He was very fast, he was there and then he was not.

He came from nowhere, a powerful man who did want peace,

In the end he stood tall, a trail of death he left, not evil was he.

A SAD SITUATION

A little bit different, a lonely child was she,

Her mother so out of touch, a young girls misery.

Shy and feeling so alone, not much of a happy home,

She did not fit in at school, something else about her.

They would tease and torment her, watch as her anger grew,

A sad situation for a girl who trusted very few.

The hurt in her heart would never mend, soon the end,

So different was she, this child no more to be.

HE HAD EVERYTHING

He had everything, he could not see what he had,

More money than a man could spend forever,

His sins would cost him plenty, no money could fix.

Hurting his wife and daughter, broken hearts were theirs,

Through his deceit and crimes a lesson might be learned,

He did not learn as it was money and blackmail that prevailed.

He escaped his dirty deeds as false faces were worn with greed,

He still had everything but in the end a man and family had nothing.

THINGS I REMEMBER

THINGS I REMEMBER

The Summer heat, laughter and Ice cream cones,

Basketball, kickball, under a favorite tree with dreams.

Reading books, Cafeteria food and of course there was you,

Walking in the morning sun to school, before we were thirteen,

Elementary school, remember with me many Yorba Linda scenes.

Yearbooks and mad magazines, swimming pools and little league teams,

Stop N’ go on a bicycle for a coke, maybe a magazine, who knows,

Seven eleven and pinball, a pizza and maybe a Saturday show.

These things I remember from a beautiful town what is a lifetime ago,

We traveled many roads within the four seasons, we met at different schools,

Things I remember from within my mind, together these adventures with you.

Once you were a child, a teenager in the sun running wild, days so long ago,

Do you recall them dear friend, I wish that I could see you just once again.

We left shadows, a part of each and everyone of us back there in that special town,

We hung out and ran through the streets until our childhood sun went slowly down.

THE WRONG BOOTH

Innocently he walks in, a quiet night,

His thoughts are of the moment, he sits.

A cup of coffee as his eyes wander this place,

He is not comfortable as he watches those around.

There is little sound as he rests his weary mind,

Eyes are upon him but he will not understand why.

Approached by one he does not know, he reacts quickly,

Injured as he runs away, the wrong booth he found today.

WHAT REALLY MATTERS

Not material things such as we are so use to,

Money gets us throught each day, in some ways.

Clothing is a necessity created by the mortal man,

Television and shopping are not so important things.

What really matters are some different parts of life,

Will you be fortunate enough to love maybe just one.

Family so close is a hard battle for most, time separates,

Health and happiness are precious gifts to keep close,

What really matters is the kind of person you are

And how those around will one day remember you.
