GUN IN HAND

This world has changed but some things never do,

Just as the pioneers did and all life and lands before,

We live today in a much scarier world, gun in hand.

Weapons from the beginning of man, it is how we live,

Protect ourselves from the fear, what we can’not see.

Paranoia and the unknown live with us in our homes,

If not a gun in hand then always a thought, living as though.

In different ways we do, we all manage in such a way,

Our own gun in hand in this land in which we stand.

WHEN I WALK ALONE

I am by myself, I can get lost in my thoughts,

I am one on my own, walking alone,

Quiet is observed behind the music I listen.

My path is my own, to anywhere I roam,

Life goes on all around my searching eyes.

When I walk alone I take in many stories,

I am the master of this time, these moments of mine,

When I walk alone then I feel much at home.

WHEN YOU KILLED ME

What were your thoughts, was this your plan,

Did you not like me, what a horrible deed you did.

I did not know you so why this evil in your head,

I guess it did not matter because now I am dead.

When you killed me you made it final, took away my life,

Will they ever find me, you made them cry in the night.

More than selfish or mean, a monster that only some see,

It is already to late when they come to see your face,

When you killed me you became less a part of the human race.

A THOUGHT OF BEFORE

My days were once of a childhood, free from worry,

That which appeared to be so devastating not quite the same.

I saw myself playing in the dirt, carefree times with you,

Beyond the streets from where we lived, an adventure gone.

Where went yesterday, it went far away from where we sit,

A thought of before comes from all that I have been and seen.

It never comes back but from within our minds, a place of our own,

A thought of before, before I was here, before tomorrow comes.

THE TRUTH ABOUT REALITY

This is real, we all live in a world together,

We are in some ways trapped with no escape.

Real is that which we see right before our eyes,

There are things happening everywhere that seem unreal,

At times we do wish to hide from reality in our own fantasies.

The truth about reality is that it is all around us forever circling,

What’s among us is our reality, some get lost in their own reality.

THEY ONLY KNOW MY NAME

My face is seen through eyes that do not see,

Opinions or judgement, anger or jealousy.

They form their own truth, they make themselves believe,

That i am something less than what i know to be.

A first impression, a bad impression,

Who are they whom think they sit on a throne.

If they look to the mirror, no perfection to see,

They only know my name, they do not know of me.

A story they tell amongst themselves,

They do not stand and face me.

It is only heard by my ear from breath to breath,

They only know my name, they are known to me.

I APOLOGIZE

I Apologize as I always respond to everyone personally

with a thank you for reading or following my poetry.

I can’t see anything coming through with your names.

I post but nothing coming back, I get all subscribes only.

I appreciate all of your time in reading, I can still post.

I don’t know what’s wrong.

WHEN THEY TOOK HIS HOME

A time of war, eigteen sixty three, many sides,

Not part of the war, the innocent among the casualties.

A simple farmer just wanting peace with his family,

They came, riders through a dusty cloud of destruction.

They killed his wife and son, again he picks up his gun,

Does not rest, will not until he finds these cowardly men.

When they took his home they took his life and soul,

Branded an outlaw he rode until he found who stole.

HE COULD SEE THE WORLD

Blinded as a young boy, darkness filled his world,

Learned did he to put away his self -pity and begin to live.

Accepting his sightless land of nothing to be seen,

Again found something worthwhile he might be,

Helping and teaching those whom become like he.

A miracle it was that a shock would give his sight back,

He could see the world, a second chance to again see,

This time not for granted taken, he could see, again free.
