HOME YOU GO

Close your eyes and open your mind,

Take a trip, home you go back to the snow.

You were only a child, a young boy back then,

Not so long ago to remember again.

Woods of trees, Christmas times that can never again be,

Icicles hanging from the rooftops, snowmen at your feet.

Watch as it falls, snowballs made from the ground,

Grapes hanging on vines, friends back in time.

From thoughts you’ll see the house where you once lived,

See it from so long ago, life was beautiful,

Leave it there, any pain or sorrow, bury it deep in the snow.

It lives in your mind, let the sadness go,

Remember a place called Amesbury, for an uncle named Joe.

SOMEONE CRIES

Through all joy in the world there is laughter heard,

Celebrations of weddings, birthdays, and life lived.

Out there somewhere a cry echoes through the woods,

A cry that comes from a bedroom, who will even care.?

Listen close for that silent cry that’s not noticed in the night,

Someone cries over a lost child and suffers through much pain.

Saying goodbye has always a reason to cry, tears fill the eyes,

Someone cries day and night, cries of happiness, those of delight.

IF I COULD DO IT AGAIN

Never thinking about it as a child, growing as a teen not yet,

Is our path chosen, a small part but it is our choices that conquer.

Where we go or end up later in life is a decision from within us,

Hopefully we get the chance to do what it is we love and are happy.

Oh! if i could do it again i would change many things about myself,

If i could go back in time I would wonder more about the future.

A better attitude could have changed some of my grief, only some,

I may have been in a different place emotionally and the world.

Tried much harder to keep my friends no matter where i went,

Being better to myself would not have changed who i am but saved me.

We can’t go back and do it again, a reason for this, something to learn,

If i could do it again, some things left alone, things are suppose to be as they are.

Keith Garrett

WHY DO YOU PRETEND?

You act as if you are not who you really are,

You wear a false smile on that face that’s afraid.

You’re weak and phoney as you hide behind the book,

Maybe that’s why they call it face, maybe no one will look.

Why do you pretend that you are of a different soul to be,

When it is that you are a coward, you now are forty three.

Once you were a child and a child that could be so mean,

You now are so much older, why is mean your middle name.?

Why do you pretend, is it because you don’t like what you see,

Do you turn your back to the mirror not wanting to be who you be,

Why do you pretend, have you run from reality.?

CROSSING OVER

I lived yesterday, it was a different year, an ending to many things,

Some don’t stop as they are on going beyond those past days.

I went to bed last night falling asleep as the clock ticked away,

When the clock struck twelve i was somewhere in a dream.

Crossing over into tomorrow, another year without me,

Some would say i missed the New year but i couldn’t stay behind.

Is it a different year or merely a changing date on a calendar we made,

Is it possible to be left behind if we don’t accept the changing times.?

Will i be lost in yesterday as i don’t believe in that which the world holds today,

We are here together on this new day, we go forth from here and pray,

Crossing over into a new year, a barrier broken or just a continuing journey.

WE ARE NOT BORN BROKEN

A baby newborn is to be pure, brought into this world,

Each one with the same chances and opportunities so it’s said.

Circumstances, Places we live, family trauma, scars are formed,

We don’t know prejudice, we are taught it and then act upon it.

See do we things not wanted, acts of violence that take from us,

Bullying, secrets in life that come to the surface, thought were a dream.

We all have our own story, we are not born broken, inside we can break,

Piece by piece we change, older we get, life can wear us down, it does.

There is a life of much possible happiness and great things, search it out,

Many people are in places for reasons of many, we began with hope and value.

At one time we were each one of us an innocent child playing and a home with family,

What breaks us, we wander from whom we are, we are not born broken.

“I REMEMBER YOU”

In places i once knew, i remember, remember all of you,

From places i lived once as a child, a place in the snow for awhile.

Travels that took me to all of you, childhood friends oh! how i miss you,

Where are you now, scattered with time all over this always mysterious world.

Places of memories, Yorba Linda was very special to me as a boy, full of friends,

I remember all of you from each school, each day we gathered, where are you now.?

Hanging out at Winchell’s, in the park up the road, on a friday night a trip to Naugles,

Skate factory, skateway, girls and boys met for the night, now are men and women.

To Thrifty’s for an Icecream cone, a triple scoop for fifteen cents, what’s your favorite flavor,

A pinball machine was a favorite of mine, a quarter gave a gift of three games.

Walking to school, basketball at Bernardo Yorba on a Saturday afternoon, remember,?

The friends, the things we did, places to go, I remember you and pinball Wizard too,

So many streets, friends in houses no longer seen, I remember you from a lifetime ago.

Placentia Is a place of many memories for me as i had just moved from Yorba, a goodbye,

Nineteen seventy seven, Summmer had just begun, A new place, friends to meet here.

Parties, skating, warm nights sitting outside laughing with new friends on the block,

Tri-city park walking a path around the lake, Yum, Yum donuts where everyone would meet.

Camelot where all people would go, friends and fun many years ago, where did you go,?

Bus rides and car drives off to the beach, In the waves we swam, laying out in the sand,

I saw you all as teens in what seems like a dream, we’re older now, i remember you always.

THIS YEAR WILL SOON END

Let’s take a look back into our year, have we learned,

What things were seen that remind us of past dreams.?

Did we see or experience something that has changed our lives,

Those people and things that were lost and found were most precious.

If accomplished goals were yours to find then a year had blessings,

Take time to look back and understand mistakes made, make a change.

New Years resolutions, maybe this next year we can all choose one of importance,

A new year is almost here, there are many challenges soon to be.

What does this next year hold for each one of us, at this point we do not know,

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you for a better year, one of peace,

This year will soon end, welcome to the New year coming, may it be a beautiful one.

HALF WAY TO HEAVEN

I’ve watched the days and I’ve seen the nights,

I’ve watched myself as a child so long ago,

I’ve followed myself from a boy, seen myself grow,

Look back do i now on a life in another time.

I stay the same still, mind, spirit, and soul,

Much different do i look, not the same as before.

I’ve learned and discovered new things on my travel,

Scars and sorrow, yesterday and tomorrow.

Happiness and laughter, i once was a child,

Half way to heaven, how would i know.?

With years i have aged, in time what’s left for me,

Do the angels have their eyes on me,

Half way to heaven, how far until eternity.?

Keith Garrett

COME WITH ME

I’m calling for you, listen too my words,

From heaven down to you, in your soul i am heard.

Leave behind your shell of a man,

Journey to me, with your spirit i will stand.

Don’t be afraid fore there is no more pain,

On the earth you lived, a body and mind.

A new adventure begins, soar up to me,

Again you will live for eternity.

A memory are you to those left behind,

Again they will see you in some distant time.

Heaven and earth, fore all come together,

Human down here, a spirit forever.
