LOVE TRAVELS A DISTANCE

A boy and his dog, love between two,

Each day he waits at the stroke of four.

Soon they will be seperated by circumstance,

Strength and courage will be tested, a faithful friend.

A boy cries in the night, a tear from a dogs eye,

Love travels a distance to see the smile on a face that cries.

Hundreds of miles traveled, across land and time,

Across a river swam, to the other side, love in a dogs eyes.

He’ll meet many on the way, conquer with every stride,

Back home a boy waits, a prayer and wish in the night.

Struggle and pain, hunger or cold will not stop mans best friend,

Something so strong lives within this four legged friend.

At the stroke of four he lies in wait,

Love travels a distance, together again.

I’M ALIVE!

My heart beats, each breath taken is a breath to be not taken for granted,

The blood runs through my veins as every moment is a moment i’ll see.

There’s a fragrance of herbs in the garden, life lives around me darling,

The wind is felt upon my face as i watch the sun move across the open sky.

Something lost and something gained as another day slips away,

Never knowing what to expect from another morning born, i’m alive!.

The air we take in isn’t for free, the price we pay to live in gods’ mystery,

Love holds no promises, love comes to stay and love drifts away, i’m alive!.

We are the fortunate ones, if the chance is for us to laugh or cry one more time,

Share a kiss, a hug, take that last walk with a love along the ocean shore, once more,

I’d just like to say i’m alive!, ” yes darling” everyday i’m alive!.

“WAITING”

Sat here have i for fifteen years, Imprisoned in a cell of darkness,

Not have i seen a sunrise, no sunset as there is for me only less time.

This is not life, caged am i as if an animal “waiting” one day soon i will die,

The wrong that i have done, they punish me in a way that defines the deed.

Does this in a way make them just as bad, they of minds the same as mine,

Maybe the punishment fits the crime, we are all animals of the same kind.

My time is running short as i feel the agony and torture of that which I’ve done,

“Waiting” my life has come down to this for the person they see me as, who i am.

There is a whole row with men like myself who couldn’t keep it together,

Minds of self destruction who first destroy other lives of the innocent.

They also wait outside with delight, chanting, singing over a death sentence,

An eye for an eye, is that really how god intended this to be, it will be.

This is no fantasy, no dream, at midnight this night, I will really die.

WANDERING IN THE DARK

There have been times in my life when i have stumbled, fallen,

I have always picked myself up and endured what has happened.

I have wandered in the dark many times in my life, not in the physical sense,

At times lost and alone was i as a child growing up, a sense of fear filled me.

Being shy, not very big as there were bullies of the world lurking in the shadows,

Wandering in the dark as i could not see the possibilities or answers all around me.

To be strong mentally, to acchieve by pushing on, overcome obstacles never so great,

When you can understand that you need not fear another man as he like you is of flesh and blood,

Stand strong just as once a man of flesh and blood stood for what he believed, possibly some fear.

To wander in the dark comes in many forms, to find the light, see it, takes a little wisdom, strength,

And a belief in yourself that you are as important, special, and faith will guide you by the hand.

WHEN YOU SEE THEM

Somewhere among the crowd one of them may be shopping,

At a restaurant they could be sitting at a table before your eyes.

A beautiful day at the beach in some year past or present they were,

Might have been at a ball game cheering just as you were having a day.

Walking down the street it could be you pass them by each day not knowing,

When you see them it is most possible that the years have disguised them.

Sometimes and not to often we may slow down and take notice of a face,

It may not be whom we wish to see or maybe the most fortunate are we.

At times i wonder if down the street they may live a neighbor not known by me,

A nod on the street by a passer by, a smile from a face that might be a friend indeed.

Over the years we spread further apart, not always in distance but in time,

When you see them take a closer look as they are no longer whom they were back then.

WALKING IN THE HILLS

Such a fine day coming, the morning light soon will come,

Ready to go on my daily trek to some place away from here.

My mind and thoughts are ready, today i’ll be walking the hills,

I’m on my way as nothing or no one can take it away from me.

I’ll walk far beyond this world i’m in, along the road, up higher,

The sun is warm and the sky is blue with assorted floating, clouds.

I walk, staring at the trees of color that move with the wind, i move,

Anything i want is here with me, nothing is unreal on this day, see it.

A waterfall pouring down to the bottom where fish wander in a stream,

Everything is a dream for me walking the hills where i can be anything.

Time for me to head home, i’m tired now and need to get some rest,

I went away today just like everyday, In my mind, there is no other way.

ECHOES FROM THE MOUNTAIN

From long ago, generation to generation stories told,

Fables and tales passed on, changing as they grow.

Beyond many Winters and long Summers, songs In the wind,

The lives of families whispered throughout a mountains time.

How long this mountain has stood can never be realized with eyes,

Echoes from the mountain, stories that drift with the passing sky.

The blowing wind, how many times has It passed across the mountain top,

What words speak from the wind, how many has the wind touched or moved.

Echoes from the mountain, voices of those whom have forever passed through.

TO SIT IN THE SAND

By myself with the wind in my face,

Watching out towards the horizon, i sit in the sand.

Above, only sky that has not an ending to my eyes,

Birds that fly, drift silently on by.

The waves are a sight, crashing on the beach,

Who would be the man whom sat here once and dared to dream.

To sit in the sand, warm to the touch of my feet,

Thoughts fill my wandering mind, what things do all of this teach.

To sit in the sand, peaceful is where i am,

Memory’s of times, all that i did in life,

Felt from inside.

ALL ALONE TONIGHT

I pulled up in the driveway, there weren’t any lights on,

Stepped out from the car as the dog was barking loud.

I caught a glimpse of a full moon rising high in the night,

Took my keys from my pocket, unlocked and opened the door.

Flipped on the light before into my house i did step,

Is anyone home, no answer would i get.

To the back door i went to let the noisy dog in,

Wagging his tail and licking my chin.

I turned on the t.v. and put on a favorite show,

Made myself a strong drink, there’s nobody home.

A bag of chips and a sandwich, no wife or sign of any kids,

It’s been such a long day, maybe they all ran away.

Up the stairs i went to make sure this wasn’t a joke,

The rooms were empty, no consideration not even a note.

I fed the dog, i put out the trash, no respect for the things i give,

Should i be concerned that they’re nowhere to be found,

If they don’t care how i feel then my drink and i will relax on the couch.

All alone tonight, not a family in sight, a dog is faithful at my side,

Peaceful and quiet, another drink and i’m feeling alright, not a bad night.

I suppose i should now worry with no word as it’s getting kind of late,

One more drink and perhaps i’ll call the police, maybe just go to sleep,

The phone just rang, they went to the movies, what a family as they had no care for me.

IF I DON’T LAUGH, I’LL SURELY CRY

Looking all around, seeing what’s happening with our own eyes,

On our land much anger and violent protests that get us nowhere.

Police are on the march, military putting their boots everywhere,

What are people really angry about as they scream and shout,

Signs are raised in the air all over the planet, do they protest life.?

If i don’t laugh about the horrible, rediculous, and senseless games

Then it shall be that i’ll surely cry every night before i drift off to sleep.

Chaos is an epidemic roaming out of control with no end to be found,

Why can no one find a way to get along in this god given world.

Hostile faces live in all races because of mistrust and violation,

If i don’t laugh i’ll surely cry with the fear of bombs in many hands.

I pray that man changes but i fear that time will never come.
