NOT A MEMORY HAS THE SEA

Covers the sea, crashes against the land with force,

Since the beginning of its creation has not sat still.

Touches life as it moves, like the ticking of time,

Never stops, never remembering where it’s been.

It does not think, there is no thought out plan,

Although each day and every moment, a routine just as man.

It can be touched, felt, you can never take hold,

Power and energy as it never grows old.

Not a memory has the sea, friendly or mean,

Its magic and mystery free to be,

NOT A MEMORY HAS THE SEA

I’LL LEAVE THE LIGHT ON

I remember the day when you went away,

Your bags packed, you’ve grown so fast, on your way.

A choice has been made, i’ll stand by your side,

What you believe in your heart is the way you must fight.

Far away the war has not stopped,

I’ll leave the light on until you come home.

I’ve written these letters for fifty years now,

Missing in action is what was said to me about you.

You’re still my love, what has become of you,?

My life is less as you have not come back.

I’ve held on to hope, a prayer every night,

After fifty years the reality of not seeing you hides from my mind.

I’ll leave the light on as i have since the day you drove away,

I’ll leave the light on until my last day.

THE WAY IT IS

The leaves, they fall from the standing trees,

Birds In the sky fly, short are their lives.

A boy and girl holding hands In the dark,

An Image In time as they become man and woman.

Seasons of four change through the year,

Love has a season, sometimes a lifetime.

The nights are always dark, a still quiet,

Just as the day Is light, the world Is alive.

Summers with friends often come to their end,

Time marches on, that’s the way It Is.

Fly away little bird, animals run till they’re done,

A son, a daughter go away with the setting sun.

The way It Is, just the way It Is,

We’re born to die, someday too touch the sky.

HE STOOD BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD

Driving along the dusty road I could see him In the distance,

A tall figure of a man, a long way from anywhere, who Is he.

Dressed In Jeans, a bit dirty to be expected, boots, and a dark shirt,

Warm outside In the middle of the Summer for where he stood.

What are you doing out here so far from civilization I asked him,

He did not speak, would you like a lift and maybe a drink of water.?

He hesitated and then stared, a very strange sort of man standing there,

There might possibly have been something wrong as he accepted the ride without words.

We traveled along for quite awhile, music playing as quiet rode along with me,

He was such a mysterious being but for some reason I felt trust In him.

We kept driving along the road, many sights to see, I looked at him, he smiled,

Who Is this man whom doesn’t speak and stood by the side of a road In the heat.

We came to a place where In front of us stood hills stretching far beyond our reach,

He motioned for me to stop, Put his hand on my shoulder and then again smiled,

Where are you going I asked,? He pointed, got out of my car and walked away,

Turning he said the words thank you friend and was nomore to be seen.

CONVERSATION WITH A FRIEND

Where have you been,? i’ve been searching for so long,

I tried to call you on the phone but you were no longer home.

I went to the places where we use to be,

Just standing there in the wind, memory’s of a friend.

I grew up just as you did, life changed and i went away,

There were many things for me to see, living my dreams.

I meant to call but as time went by, out of sight, out of mind,

A woman came into my life, my past was left behind.

So tell me friend what have you been doing,?

I stayed behind, watching the world go by,

Children of three and a wife no more to be.

Worked to survive, became older did i,

A roller coaster ride, i’ve had in my time.

I’m glad we found one another, i’ll soon be coming home,

I went away but i’ll be coming back that way.

We’ll stand together one more time,

Somewhat older as you are you and i am me.

IF I COULD MAKE IT ALRIGHT

My eyes i would give you and be blind so you could see,

So that you could hear the sounds of the world, deaf i would be.

I would give up my voice that you may sing out your song,

Hold onto your hand when the pain of life becomes too strong.

If i could make it alright, any sickness for you would be my fight,

If i could make it alright, my sleep i would lose so you may rest through the night.

My heart is mine just as your heart belongs to you,

If i could make it alright then know that my heart i would give to you.

The ultimate gift would be to give so that another could live,

If your heart did cease to beat then my life i would give to you.

GOLDEN HAIRED LITTLE GIRL

She was born In nineteen twenty eight, a star she would soon be,

This golden haired little girl with a pout that could melt anyone’s heart.

She would sing and dance shaking her golden curls all about,

A beautiful little child, a star growing up back In the thirties.

Their has never been a child star like her and never will be again,

Her smile would light up any room, she lived In a time of depression.

World war two was closing In but her movies could take away the struggles

Of everyones pain from those days, you could go away If only for a moment.

What a life for a girl named Shirley, so young when the whole world knew her,

In a time of great entertainers, a changing world, Shirley Temple was around.

She grew up to be a woman but the little girl would go on to live forever,

Her movies will never go away so she will live In our hearts always.

Here’s to you golden haired little girl, In heaven you’ll be again that little girl.

FROM OUT OF MY WINDOW

I gazed outside at a bird on a limb,

So many clouds made my light very dim.

The things I see are not so new,

From out of my window, a simple view.

I stand here watching as time goes by,

I listen for the sound, I can hear nature cry.

The wind passes by, through the trees It blows,

Stare out at the night, watch as the moon glows.

As day becomes night and the night turns too day,

Time does not stand still but from out of my window

I see things things my own way.

I AM THE WIND

Many things there are that possess strength and power,

I am the wind, I can travel further than most natural things.

Things of the earth, I am everywhere and always somewhere,

I can not be seen therefore you can not look at me, I am the wind.

I can find ways to break through and move around, I create sound,

Everyone knows of me, all things are touched by what I am.

There Is much proof of my existence as I can be gentle and quiet,

I can also destroy, be of much destruction and terror to a world.

I am the wind!, I find you, I too can not see you but I have the advantage,

I am of much more power as I do not ever get tired, I am the wind.

A name I have been given to show of my difference, You know me, I am the wind.

VIEW FROM A CLIFF

Alone, high above the wandering ocean is where I spend my day,

Wind can not be seen but it makes a sound, feel It all around.

Thinking Is a constant thing that I do, Free under a clear sky I can breathe,

The sun shines high In the sky, somewhere beyond, heaven watches down.

For miles and endless miles from so up high I can see forever the ocean wide,

There are birds and seagulls soaring across the sky, I stand here wondering about life.

Where I am Is oh! so high but what Is high, to reach above and touch the stars,

Waves crashing against the rocks with a powerful force, such an awesome sound.

Above the world It seems as this view from a cliff Is a most amazing sight,

With the dark of night approaching, I say goodbye to a beautiful place.
