WHY DID YOU NOT RUN?

Like thunder, explosions from different sites,

Their weapons loaded, death was in their eyes.

You saw them marching in the distance my friend,

Closing in on you were those whom did not know you.

Did they leave you there alone, turn their backs and go,

Were the men with you smarter, were they pleading with you.

It should not have been this way, you were not left to die,

No sense can ever be made of this tragedy as i wonder why.

My friend, why did you not run as were coming an army of guns,

As i was told you must retreat, why did you remain and wait.

I received the news from one at my door that you were no more,

The words i heard were that you were brave and a hero,

This i would like to believe as you died needlessly.

GODS MIRACLE

He seemed to have dropped from the sky,

No memory or thought of an earlier time.

A gift he had, a gift from god,

The gentle giant with a loving heart.

Guilty of nothing but judged just the same,

A healing hand, a gift with a burden.

His name was John, a miracle of god,

A sentence of death although a good man.

Soon he would die, a chance to be set free,

The gift that he had made him tired and weak.

But how could one of gods miracles be of any evil sort,

His name was John, never did he do anything wrong,

One of gods miracles has died and gone.

MY NAME IS GEORGE

I have a home, it’s not like yours, there are no rooms,

If i am to have heat then it comes from the sun.

My bathroom rests not in one spot, it moves,

No air conditioner have i, the coolness comes from the night air.

My shower is not always working, at times i am not clean,

I have a bed, it is wherever i may lay.

My refrigerator is always empty, it’s a thing i do not own,

My sink is a bucket of water or a puddle i may find.

I own a television, it is all that i see,

It only turns off when asleep i may be.

There are no chairs, a sofa to rest upon,

My windows are the world, a roof, only what’s above me.

A yard i have extends very far,

Wherever i may be, nature is all around me.

My name is George, do not be George.

PILLOW BENEATH MY HEAD

The days can be long, life is beautiful, life can be a battle,

Go to work and give all you have to the corporate plan.

The world is so fast now, keep up with the pace,

Fight it if you choose, get left in the dust.

Eyes can get blinded by events of the day,

Deafness to the ears when so much noise is heard.

Like a scary movie or a happy ending may be shown,

The way of the world is to fight and scramble till sleep

And tired takes you away.

I feel so tired and worn out on some days,

When the sun goes down and a shower feels so clean,

A hot dinner made, the lights go out and a pillow beneath my head.

A CHOSEN BROTHER

I can’not see from eyes that once did see,

I can’not make foot steps in shoes that did not walk.

I can’not dream as one who no longer dreams,

His name was his own, not for myself to now hold.

He was at a time your loving brother, like no other,

   I can’not be one of your brother’s, I can be a brother.

A chosen brother i can be to you,

I can see with a heart, memory’s of new.

For you i can be a kind ear, words of comfort,

If ever needed then always i’ll be there.

You have a name, I have a sister just met,

Your name be Rebecca, I am your chosen brother.

CAN YOU SPARE A DOLLAR

Walking the streets with really no place to be,

Day to day survival, not such an easy game to play.

Within the heat or rain i travel and take cover,

As i look all around, there is not much care.

To take a bath or shower would be a treat,

Something to eat a much appreciated gift for me.

Conversation not a lot as i’m locked in my own world,

They try not to see me, pretending i’m not there.

I don’t wish to offend them as i’m not often clean,

My blame for my own circumstance is not put upon them.

I have a name, i am a human being, i grew up like most of you,

So many are one step away from where i sleep and stay.

So as i am embarrassed i would like to ask, please!

Can you spare a dollar.?

BIG BANG!

Geeks of four, nerds with brains galore,

Scientific and smart, what lives in their hearts.

Adult children always playing with toys,

Robots and comic books, star trek little boys.

Let’s start with Raj, from India he’s born,

Can’t speak with women unless alcohol gets involved.

Howard’s a freak, with his mother trapped is he,

On the prowl for anyone called woman,

The way he’s dressed, strange you see.

Leonard makes the most sense, still a bit strange is he,

Sometimes to many words, his mouth needs a key.

This brings us to him, is he alien or human,

Sheldon takes the prize, no girl does he desire.

He’s neurotic and crazy, seems like he should be traveling out in space,

Has everything to say about anything.

He’s one of a kind, a geek and a dork,

Does nothing without purpose, some call him loveable Sheldon,

A friend who will drive you nuts.

Penny is their friend, she’s all that is different,

A waitress whom struggles, maybe crazy herself for caring about these overgrown kids.

Big bang, big bang, oh! so insane.

WHAT’S FOR BREAKFAST?

The sun rises to a new day, the light wakes me, the birds are at play,

Rise do i out from my bed, headed for the kitchen, a cup of coffee in my head.

So sweetheart! what’s for breakfast? Scrambled egges and sausage, perhaps,

How about an Omelette, Ham, and some assorted treats, toast or a bagel maybe.

Well! what would you like, Eggs over easy, poached, sunny side up, or something else,

Waffles with syrup and strawberrys, a touch of wipped cream might be nice.

Pancakes stacked high, different types and flavors, syrup dripping down the sides,

Ham and eggs, steak and eggs, mix them up with hash browns or fries, a morning delight.

Now there are those whom have the taste for cereal, many names to choose from,

Oatmeal with a favorite fruit, best on a cold Winter morning, what is your choice.

Hot chocolate with Marshmallows, coffeee of different tastes, hot tea for somebody,

Weather a taste for a full plate or just a drink to get you through a moment of peace.

What’s for breakfast? It’s your choice, enjoy the morning, it might take you through the day.

I SAW YOU YESTERDAY

It’s been so long since last i saw your face, listened as you spoke to me,

I remember all the things you taught me, Watched shows with you back then.

Rides in your car to the beach and many other special places,

Life with you was always great, at the same time never so perfect.

Each day i saw you as you would say a short goodbye,

My day as a child was spent doing childish things.

At the end of the passing day i would await your return,

Sit down and rest with a beer and a show just before dinner.

You taught me right, reminded me when i did wrong,

A friend when i wanted, a father when most needed.

It’s been so long, much to long since last we played,

I saw you yesterday, when the sun went down you were gone.

TO SIT IN THE SAND

By myself with the wind in my face,

Watching out towards the horizon, i sit in the sand.

Above only sky that has not an ending to my eyes,

Birds that fly, drift silently on by.

The waves are a sight, crashing on the beach,

Whom would be the man who sat here once and dared to dream.

To sit in the sand, warm to the touch of my feet,

Thoughts fill my wandering mind, what things do all of this teach.

To sit in the sand, peaceful is where i am,

Memory’s of times, all that i did in life,

                                       Felt from inside.
