ANOTHER STEP CLOSER TO HEAVEN

As a child life was so magical, running in the sun seemed forever,

The days were long, cartoons were real when once so small.

A page is written as each day we awken and we step further along,

Life is amazing as the older we get the more fortunate we really are.

Some may call it luck when there are those whom leave this world so quickly,

Others are given a gift to see the sunrise many more mornings but why.

Maybe it is luck or a plan from god and a lesson that we must enjoy life,

Open our eyes to all there is to see in this big, unusual land called earth.

There’s an hour glass, only so many Summers, so many Springs for each,

Our steps are never counted as we have only so many left to travel with.

Just as we have a date when we were born there is in gods book a date

Already written and not known for our last day, Another step closer to

Heaven, today we live until forever.

ADRIFT AT SEA

No memory have i of how this came to be,

Lost and alone, just me and the sea.

Day after day across endless water,

Above, only the sky and the seagulls that fly.

Get by do i with only little water and food,

Maybe a hope and a prayer that it may get me through.

In the distance perhaps a dolphin or whale,

                        My Imagination is running wild.

Thinking of what’s below me scares me some,

Loneliness is worse fore nobody listens.

A dream am i having or my personal hell,

Until the end of this i’ll not be able to tell.

Up ahead, what is it that i see,

My hope and prayer is answered to me,

No longer will i be adrift at sea.

Jesus in disguise

Around the park i stroll, my eyes taking in the happy and sad,

The fortunate and down and out are mixed together as strangers.

Who will care for or about the ones that wander hopelessly about,

As for those whose lives are full of love and homes to walk into

It’s easy to forget and pretend they don’t exist out there hungry.

Is it possible that while i do walk around and observe this horror

That’s plagued our world for as long as we’ve existed that there

May be that one soul who approaches us and asks for a dollar or

Help and we have no idea that this was a test, Jesus in disguise.

Our chance to do or don’t may just add a tear or smile to such a

love and peace starved land, Something to think upon,

What if it was he, might it be, Jesus in disguise.

WALK WITH ME TODAY

 Keith Garrett
I’m glad you’re here, it’s quite early as the sun awakes to this day,

I asked you here because i need you to walk with me today.

There’s not a word you need to say as we move our feet together,

We’re headed into a most beautiful day as a calm peace joins us.

There’s a breeze in the air, the smell of breakfast from an early

Saturday morning get together of friends and family near by,

The sound of the scrub jays as they search for their own morning food.

Can you see the sunlight shining across the trees, walk with me,

Down this trail we travel, a little slippery so take hold of my hand.

The time comes when a moment needs to be taken not to stop

But to slow down and see what god has created around us all,

I’m glad you’re here and decided to walk with me today so

That we could take the time to appreciate our lives and learn

Not to take for granted the special things we share and have.

See the mountains in the distance, feel the warm sun on your face,

We leave the everyday world behind as we walk and laugh.

Thank you for walking with me today, I’ve learned much from

You as you never spoke a word, listened to me, and made me feel

As though i wasn’t alone.

MORTAL I AM

To walk on water is an amazing thing i can’not do,

Flying across the sky, never will i fly, a thought from my mind.

Through walls of solid never will my physical body walk,

I have not the power to raise my hands and change the world.

To part the sea is a wonder that i’ve not yet seen,

Fire i can’not make rain from the sky, no not I.

I have not the ability to hide from pain,

Fear is an emotion that lives in the human being.

I am not god fore it is that i may bleed and do,

I breathe the air but no guarantee of a tomorrow.

Mortal I am, for now here i’ll stand and walk this land,

Older i’ll get as surely i will not live forever in this place.

One day i’ll die and pray that my new home will be beyond the sky.

THE BRAVE MAN PUTS DOWN HIS SWORD

Anger eats at his heart, hurt devours this mans loving soul,

He fights within himself as he seeks the peace of restful sleep.

Listen to this man as he asks to be heard among the screaming noise,

A battle rages between pain and the happiness so desired for so long.

What does a man see when hate and mistrust rule his hopes and dreams,

He seeks to walk out from the darkness and let the fight die with yesterday.

The brave man awakes to his morning and breathes the hopeful day,

With his hand he takes from his belt the sorrow, let it go away.

The brave man puts down his sword fore there exists another way,

The battle needs not to be won, the war created and destroyed by only he.

WHEN I CRY

The tears run down this face, my face that cries,

An expression of sadness, although pain, or loneliness.

When it is that this soul does cry then he searches to hide,

I’ve been seen before when i cry not worrying what is thought.

The filled up tears that rest deep inside i let flow freely you see,

At times such an act to be a hard hearted man, who will understand.

When i cry the strength inside does not die, feelings are alive,

This does not make from a man a baby, only much to set free from the mind.

When i cry i cry, simple emotions from a human side,

Tears from my eyes, when i cry i live on inside.

IT’S ME GOD

God, I’ve been having a bad time lately,

There’s a lot of good happening in my life

But the pain and sorrow follow me.

I’ve always been a good man, hard working with a heart,

Opinions and judgement that have been laid upon me

By those whom can’t see the light.

You always know that i’m far from perfect,

Mistakes made are scars that i’ll forever in this life carry.

I ask that you’ll take a moment and visit this pain soaked man,

Show me a way to forgive those whom have hurt me

As well as a way for me to forgive myself.

I can’t make them forgive me but i can say i’m sorry,

Life’s given me many challenges and I’ve stayed strong

And determined to never give up and keep living.

It’s me god, you know who i am,

Thought i’d take a moment to ask for your forgiveness,

It’s me god, only me.

WHERE THE WIND BLOWS

Where does the wind go when it’s no longer here,

Does it travel to far off places, will the same wind ever reappear.

If it blows across the ocean has it a plan of its own,

Are their many different winds, who would know.

It passes us by in an instance of time,

Cool or warm, soft it may feel,

Wicked with speed, fierce it may be.

Where the wind blows is a mystery only god knows,

Beyond the clouds, across the mountains it flows.

It has not a face as it makes its self known,

Since the beginning of time, where does the wind blow.

Where the wind blows, many think they know,

From long ago many souls have followed and never

Have seen where it goes, where the wind blows.

I’M JUST A POOR BOY

No car do i own, socks full of holes, day by day an hourly wage,

I lie there in bed worrying about tomorrow, a bed of my own.

No credit cards or a bank account, my only money in an aging wallet,

A table of food always, dinner as a poor boy will gladly serve.

Clothes on my back, shoes that take me to where i survive,

Blessings of many in a world of sorrow and strife.

I’m just a poor boy with a smile and a tear, a wish and a fear,

What i lack in gold is made up of treasure discovered everyday.

I’ll take a trip somewhere from my mind, to a place of fantasy,

A rich man can’t find, where a poor boy can’t buy.

I’m just a poor boy with so much to give, i give to you,

I’m just a poor boy, what’s a poor boy to do.
