LORD OF KINGS

              LORD OF KINGS

Rulers of many lands, they were different but
 Greed the same,

Treasures valued beyond the real purpose of a
 Living man.

Since the birth of man and the rising sun, war is
 Never done,

Blood spilled with time, lies and guilt, death
 seems but a crime.

There are Kings who sit upon thrones of deceit
 And evil deeds,

I wonder If there ever was one who thought more
 About the common good.

The Lord of Kings Is a mysterious one, creator of
 All things great and kind,

Master of Earthly scenes, creator of the universe,
That which men build and destroy.

SECRET FRIEND

                SECRET FRIEND

I was a small boy when first my friend appeared,

So long ago as now it is that I am much older than.

A friend that was there whenever I was lonely and
 Scared,

I did talk to back then, laughed and ran in a field
 Of weeda.

As I got a year older this friend was not by my side,
 Wandered,

I would meet others and my friend would stand across
 Yhe street.

Pacing back and forth, I was growing older as my friend
 Remained a child,

Slowly I had not much in common with my secret friend,
 The games changed.

The more I wandered and found, the further the distance
 Between us,

My secret friend was leaving me, I couldn't hold on as
Much as I thought I wanted,

My friend was leaving me as it was time to go, just as
I went away, a friend no more.

THE DUSTY TRAIL

            THE DUSTY TRAIL

Traveling through an untamed land, I travel,

All that I own packed upon my horse and wagon.

There's a lot of quiet time thinking and looking,

As the day ends I set camp, a fire, supper, and my horse.

Noises of the night are owls, crickets, or the wind,

Lucky am I to hold this guitar in hand.

Feed my horse and off to bed for a little rest,

A gun close by as I sleep with an open eye.

Just call me bob as when the sun rises I'll be gone,

A hot cup of coffee, a bite to eat, and off I go.

The dusty trail takes me to many places of sight,

I travel by day then it's time to stop for a much wanted,
 Peaceful night.

HE CAME FROM NOWHERE

           HE CAME FROM NOWHERE

Not a clue of who he really was, his name not sure,

It is said he came from nowhere, a tall man of strength.

He spoke always in a manner of calm and peace,

You could not enrage him, a confident look upon his face.

Softly spoken words but a lethal weapon, you can be sure,

There is no record of him, a mystery from where he came,

He was very fast, he was there and then he was not.

He came from nowhere, a powerful man who did want peace,

In the end, he stood tall, a trail of death he left,
 Not evil was he.

HE HAD EVERYTHING

            HE HAD EVERYTHING

He had everything, he could not see what he had,

More money than a man could spend forever,

His sins would cost him plenty, no money could fix.

Hurting his wife and daughter, broken hearts were
 Theirs,

Through his deceit and crimes, a lesson might be
 Learned,

He did not learn as it was money and blackmail that
 Prevailed.

He escaped his dirty deeds as false faces were worn
 With greed,

He still had everything but in the end a man and
 Family had nothing.

HANGMAN

                 HANGMAN

On a dirty street, in a western town back in time,
 The gallows,

He is the hangman, stands always still as the shadows
 Drift with time.

He is everywhere, face covered always in a mask of
 Darkness,

Not a ruler but he holds the authority to life and
 Death.

A noose hovers, it sways with the wind, waiting for
 Those who sin,

You didn't just break the law, the ultimate crime
 Lived in your mind.

A life you did take, murder will get you a date
 With the hangman,

Many years ago when life was hard on the trail,
 Guns an every day tool.

When a man chooses the wrong road, decisions of
Criminal deeds will do him in,

The hangman will watch as you climb the stairs,
 Each step you will sweat.

A choice you have made, time to pay, the hangman
 Does have his day.

BLUE JEANS

                  BLUE JEANS

Antique in time, from the seventies, a pair
 So fine,

I remember I put them away, blue Jeans for another
 Day.

A touch faded were they, comfortable in a certain way,

Worn were they to a party, perhaps a barbecue or two,

A Saturday night drive-in, what jeans were worn by you?

Blue jeans I took from a shelf, dusty, aged from time,

They fit me once before, now I can wear them in my mind.

RUST FROM TIME

                    RUST FROM TIME

Sometimes to recall childhood days are lost
 With what life takes away,

A bicycle of color sits for years until its age
Is seen through cobwebs so clear.

A shed or a box of stored away and at times forgotten
 Treasures are again a thought,

Going back to a place where once we stood on sidewalks
 Of ghosts, friends we knew.

Trees grow taller, houses rest where inside we once
Knew those with faces and names,

Hills where we wandered have disappeared with this
 Changing world.

Nothing seems to stay the same, faces fade, children
 We knew all go away,

There are those times when I can just stand there and
 Somewhere in the wind,

When the night is quiet, there's a fragrance in the air,
 That feeling of yesterday.

Like a cloud or veil as the seasons change and we all
 Go our seperate ways,

Thoughts change, some memories drift with passing winds.

Rust from time, if so blessed then may we all play the
Mrmories in our minds for just a little while longer.

GUARANTEES

                     GUARANTEES

In my life hoping to awake each day,

With no guarantees of even this, or that the
End of it I'll even see.

To fall in love with a woman of my dreams,

Isn't promised to me that it will reach the end
 Of the road.

It isn't written in stone that anything will
 Work out,

Take a chance do we and see it through.

No one told you that you would get your own way,

Just try what you can and see how it plays.

This world gives us no guarantees of anything,

If we don't give it a try, accomplish or overcome
 We will not.

TAKE HOLD AND DON’T LET GO

TAKE HOLD AND DON'T LET GO

Trust In me, follow me to the end of the world,

I'll walk with you, trust me love, I'll take you
 There.

Promises are empty words with no meaning,

Take hold of my hand and I'll show you who I am.

Run with me my friend, pick up your feet and run,

We'll follow the sun across the sand, we'll run
 With the wind.

Speak to you do I with true words from my heart,

With what you know about me can you understand.

See these eyes as they tell you a story of a mans'
 Life,

Don't let go of things' shared by two, of what you
 Know.

In me the fire, you are the peaceful breeze,

At times' the fall of rain for me Is needed,

Fore you at times' are the wind.

Take hold and don't let go of the love and care,

That may come along not so often In a lifetime.
