A HEARTBEAT
Listen to my heartbeat, thump, thump, it beats,
Blood runs through it, listen to me as I breathe.
A heartbeat means life, it beats fast or slow,
Thump, thump, it goes, a heartbeat that slowly
Grows old.
It speaks of who I am, only one of a kind,
Listen! thump, thump, with a hand to my chest,
Feel as I am alive.
A
Heartbeat lets us know that this moment is still ours,
Hear it pound! listen too its beautiful sound.
Thump, thump, thump, thump, one beat at a time,
A
Heartbeat so precious, thump as it beats one more time.

FLIGHT
FLIGHT
There up high I stare to the wide open sky,
Watch as I do you circle round, and round.
Free to fly, soar with the wind, I see you fly,
What is it that you see as you drift through the air?
Spread those wings and sail, sail to anywhere,
Beneath the stars, under heaven above, fly.
What the Lord has given to you is the gift of flight,
Fly away, fly away, get lost into the night.
Created were you by he without a face,
Spirit in the sky will take you on a special flight.
Make your journey through the clouds moving by,
Into the sun that shines from so far away.
Finish your flight, goodbye, I say farewell,
Fly, fly far away.

FADES, DOES THE PICTURE
FADES, DOES THE PICTURE
A reel to reel movie, A painting so old,
An old photo album covered in dust.
Growing up in a town long since gone,
Relics, skeletons from our yesterday.
Memories are not so clear, gone with the years,
Sometimes forgotten, at times not remembered.
Blocking out things we wish no longer to see,
The mind is a special place of reality and fantasy.
Sometimes we try to go back from within, inside,
Finding that we are lost, our way is like a fog.
Fades, does the picture, scenes of our time,
A little taken away as we age from day, to day.

A BOAT LOST
A BOAT LOST
Slowly floating, adrift In waters' so calm,
Why does It have no travelers', alone.
Fog and mist surround this shape of wood,
Where has It been, where does It travel.
No answers' does It give to questions',
Drifting, slowly drifting to a place of nowhere.

FLIGHT OF A DRAGON
FLIGHT OF A DRAGON
With speed like the wind, to the sky it soars,
So massive this beast, listen to the sound as it roars.
Legend or myth, this monster of fire,
Just the sight of it is hard not to admire.
Of long ago these stories are told,
FLIGHT OF A DRAGON, in a time of old.
Where did they come from,? these creatures so wild,
Born down below or in the mind of a child.
Sometimes in your thoughts, look up in the air,
Flight of a dragon, maybe still there.

DID YOU SEE THE WORLD TODAY
DID YOU SEE THE WORLD TODAY?
I awoke this morning to the sunlight along with
The musical tunes of nature,
Scrub jays of beautiful blue, flying here and there,
Collecting their penuts.
I watch the Squirrels running, playing, and eating
Breakfast set out for them,
Life is awake, plants and trees, flowers and green
Surround from all around.
In the distance I can hear many flying creatures, the
Echo of a dog calling out,
The blue sky lay like a blanket over what has been
Created from the master.
Did you see the world today, did you look around to
All that may be found,
Did you see the hills and green grass dancing back
And forth?
Did you see the day change from yesterday, the world
Change before you,
Did you see the world today, see it before it disappears
And goes away.

DID YOU HEAR IT LAST NIGHT
DID YOU HEAR IT LAST NIGHT?
I awoke last night to a booming sound, echoing
Across the sky,
Cracking like a whip was it as I lay there listening
And wondering.
Thunder, louder it became, the sound of sparks high
In the sky,
Very unusual as my eyes needed to see what this
Spectacle could be.
Nothing could I see except the sounds ringing into
The dark night,
Did you hear it last night? it came out of the sky,
I tell you no lies.
Like heavy footsteps across the clouds, horses galloping
With no sight,
What was happening, was it something so real, was it
Just I whom heard,
Did you hear it last night, did it bring you fright,
Was it from beyond the sky?

A CHANGING MAN
A CHANGING MAN
Sit down my darling, sit back and relax,
Just listen,
I'm here to tell you a story about the life
Of a man.
Like an outlaw roaming the countryside, day to day,
Mistakes not realized as he rides blindly Into
Loneliness.
Selfish and angry, as this anger stole the beauty
And hope
Of what the world had to offer, nothing seen through
His eyes.
Riding each day Into every sunset, never watching It
Go down,
Wasting time, running from a chance for happiness,
This man.
Into his life one day, a woman of such beauty, In his
Eyes he did see,
Still taking for granted all there could be, holding
Onto mistrust.
She went away, she went far away, she saw the sunset,
Not he,
A changing man lives today, he rides and rides with
His head held high.
Mistakes understood, selfishness gone away, anger
turned to laughter,
He can see the beauty of this world through his now
Opened eyes.
Wasting no time as he does not run, he watches the
Sun go down,
Someday with her again to see the sunrise, to watch
The sun go down.
A changing man can see, a changing man Is he.

EIGHTEEN WHEELS
EIGHTEEN WHEELS
Leaving out of North Dakota, heading for
Odessa town,
Hopped up into my ole' truck, eighteen wheels
Under my butt.
Haulin' a load of lumber and steel,
Me and my music box, my hands on the stearin'
Wheel.
I'm headin' for the heat of Texas,
It's gonna be a long, long, road, don't you know.
I turned up some good ole' country tunes,
Time to put the hammer down.
This life I chose, on the road it's to anywhere I
Roam,
Just a simple, Kansas farm boy, one day I'll go
Back home.
Eighteen wheels, rollin' down the highway,
Eighteen wheels, doin' it my way.
Just a good ole' boy with places to be,
A country heart, and I got things to see,
Eighteen wheels and I'm runnin' free.

ECHOES AND SHADOWS
ECHOES AND SHADOWS
When the wind blows there are echoes in time,
Echoes of all that have passed on by.
The sounds of a lifetime, listen as the children
Have grown,
Echoes of voices lost with the emptying hourglass.
There are the echoes of those who once lived,
Laughter of young ones, now part of the wind.
Shadows of the seasons, one by one, gone,
Shadows remembered of a man standing in the sun.
Shadows of trees that stood tall in the sky,
Across mountain tops, shadows from morning till
Night.
Echoes and shadows from the beginning of time,
Time passed by, seen from many eyes.
