THIS BOY FROM TUPELO

                        THIS BOY FROM TUPELO

From Mississippi, born quite some time ago,

The name of Elvis, would be forever known.

Gospel music, he could sing very well,

Growing up In a town, where the poor would dwell.

He loved his mother, to her a song he would sing,

Noticed by a man named Sam, to a boy, fame this
  Would bring.

Moving on to Memphis, a place In Tennessee,

A mansion known as Graceland, now the home for he.

Always near by, on him an eye they keep,

Called the Memphis Mafia, Is who they would be.

A show he puts' on In such places well known,

All over the world his legend has grown.

When his time came, the Lord made his visit,

Away Elvis went with him, to the music we still listen.

FROM OUT OF MY WINDOW

                       FROM OUT OF MY WINDOW

I gazed outside at a bird on a limb,

So many clouds made my light very dim.

The things I see are not so new,

From out of my window, a simple view.

I stand here watching as time goes by,

I listen for the sound, I can hear nature cry.

The wind passes by, through the trees It blows,

Stare out at the night, watch as the moon glows.

As day becomes night and the night turns to day,

Time does not stand still but from out of my window

I see things my own way.

BETWEEN THE TREES

                                     BETWEEN THE TREES

From the road I step beyond, into another world,

Peaceful beauty is waiting as my morning begins.

No one here but me and whatever lives between the
  Trees,

Listen to the birds high above, what types sing
  Different Songs?

I step into the darkened forest with my feet
  Crunching The Aged leaves,

Quiet sounds are everywhere, things not seen, look
Close As they are to be.

Shadows move with the swaying branches just as they
  Move With time,

Between the trees there is a most colorful, landscape
   To Take in, Follow me.

There is life here that has stood for many generations,
  Beyond History,

Between the trees so many men and women have dreamed,
  All Things seen.

1969

                                            1969

I was a child in 1969, I had not a clue of the world,

I knew of certain things, those of which I lived through.

Riding my bike, and a deadly Halloween night, that's
 Right,

I remember all that I did as a kid, a lifetime ago, and a
 Family.

Vietnam was a reality, and I was protected by my
   Childish World,

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid, Clint Eastwood was
 The man.

Raindrops keep falling on my head, Simon and Garfunkel
  Were Grand.

Scooby Doo and all of the colorful cartoons that I knew, I
  Think Of you,

Baseball with the miracle mets, Bill Russell, and the
   Champion Celtics.

Joe Namath with his Guarantee, the Jets beat the Colts,
   Charles Manson, And history,

The Innocence of the Brady Bunch, walk on the moon, Led
   Zeppelin, And a tune,

1969 was the year when love and innocence were mixed
  With My day.

A THANK YOU, DEAR LORD

                              A THANK YOU, DEAR LORD

It's me again, many thoughts swirl in my head,

For this life you gave to me, i am most grateful.

I wake each morning to the rain or shine,

You've let me walk your worldly creation, i'm still alive.

I forget at times and also for granted take,

This life is precious, there's much good in the world.

A thank you dear lord for the things given to me,

The wonders of this land at times are hard to see.

I'll try to remember that fragile is man,

Speak to you soon, I keep trying to understand and
 Be the best I can.

CREATE ME

                                             CREATE ME

Whom shall I be, what kind is thought of in your mind,

You possess the imagination and wisdom to understand.

If you were to create me would I be of a good and kind heart,

Would I care about this world and be of help to
 Neighbor?

When you create me will you add compassion and love,

Will I try and change the world, not be of destruction?

Create me as a good human being, otherwise do not waste your
 Time,

"Do not create me at all"

                                                                              Keith Garrett

EVERYBODY HURTS SOMETIMES

                        EVERYBODY HURTS SOMETIMES

  Everybody hurts, everybody cries sometimes,

Everybody wants to be needed, can you even
 Understand?

I am crying from within my soul, take a look within my
 Eyes,

I want you to hear my words, does anybody care what
  Happens To Me now?

Everybody loves at one time, tears, as if one day it
   Drifts Away, Do you cry?

Is it possible to love just one more time, time slips
  Away Into An Olden age.

Everybody hurts sometimes, are we gathered here for
   One Last Time?

Does it hurt when life is so unkind, there are ghosts
  That Linger Within My mind?

Everybody hurts, are we all alone within our thoughts
   WhenvThe Lights Go out?

Shed a tear for the world tonight, everybody hurts, is
  Everything Alright Tonight?

EXPRESSIONS

                                     EXPRESSIONS

There are those with looks of a fear unexplained,

Scared of something, the world does not
 Understand.

Laughing in the park, a man, and woman,

Happy are their faces as seen from the street.

Crying all alone under a tree, tears of life,

Sadness spills out of a heart so broken.

Anger sits in the soul of a human being with hurt,

Upset at the loss of loves rejection.

Many faces of this life worn, expressions learned,

Expressions so true, those of me, those of you.

BRAVERY

                  BRAVERY

A hero just as anyone, he refused to carry a gun,

They called of him a coward, a warrior, he stood tall.

Of his country he did believe, they did not care about
 His beliefs,

Daws the coward was his name, world war two, death is
 True.

Hero without a gun, a man who did as much as anyone,

He was strong as they thought he did not belong, without
 A gun.

He stayed behind, physically and mentally a man who gave
 It his all,

Afraid just as any man, never a coward, strong as anyone
 Fore he had no gun.

He walked, he ran through the war without a weapon to
 Call his own,

A hero for sure, coward, a word never breathed in a
 Lifetime no more.

A MOMENT IN TIME

               A MOMENT IN TIME

A speck of dust, just a trickle of water,

Soon would blow with the wind and dry into nothing.

Our time is now for we are a whisper wanting to
 Be heard,

A short period for laughter, remembered for what
 We leave.

For so long has time existed, the world, the universe
 So large,

We are but a fragment, a particle of all that was
 Created.

A moment in time was this gift we were given from
 God above,

A moment to see and love all there is to understand
 From this.

Where we go from here we shall not know, but hold
 No fear,

Like many fallen leaves from a tree, we are one, we
 Disappear.
              Keith Garrett
