PLAYGROUND IN MY MIND

PLAYGROUND

IN MY MIND

There are times I like to escape from here,

Away from all this mess handed out from life.

Through my dreams’ and Imagination there’s a place to go,

A fantasy created by myself that only I hold.

Come with me on a journey Inside,

To my playground built for me, a place I can hide.

In my mind, I keep out that of which I choose,

Letting In only wishes of my perfect reality.

There’s a land of which I’ve come to find,

It’s a secret place, a playground In my mind.

HEY! HEY! THEY WERE THE MONKEES

HEY! HEY! THEY WERE THE MONKEES
Hey! hey! they were the Monkees, used to be here but where did they go?
Way back in the sixties they had their own t.v. show.
They were all pretty silly and funny, an odd bunch wouldn’t you say,
People still love to watch them, oh! yes to this very day.
Davey was English, a short sort of a lad,
A voice made for singing, banging the tambourine that he had.
Peter was like Harpo, quiet but funny,
A piece of the puzzle to make them as one.
Mike played his guitar and could really sing,
Somewhat as the leader to all four he would bring.
Mickey was funny, had a voice, and could play the guitar,
Back in the past, maybe a pop star,
Mickey Dolenz, Davey Jones, Mike Nesmith, Peter Tork.

AN UNCERTAIN AMERICA

AN UNCERTAIN AMERICA

Crime in the streets, it goes on in the day and by dark of night,

Anger and mistrust are now an epidemic of disease running wild.

Shooting guns are everywhere, open your eyes, beware as the enemy is here,

We are hated but laughed at all around this spinning globe, we are weakening, they know.

It is us who are deadlier, more dangerous than those who surround and invade,

Standing together we pretend, we are each one on our own, make no mistake, we are alone.

Our lives matter but only to us, there is no high power who cares if we survive or turn to dust,

Can you see it? every day the horror encircles our American way, we slowly decay, soon to go away.

An uncertain America where the flag moves slowly down, shredding a little each day,

Something wicked is coming soon our way, be well prepared with trust only in yourself.

AN ANGRY MAN

AN ANGRY MAN

Anger, so much mistrust for the world, he’s angry,

That which he can not control bothers him so.

Nothing wrong with letting it out, control is what it’s about,

Angry at that which has passed, let this go, an angry man knows.

Feeling at times the universe has let him down, the fire rages,

Inside he feels the water boil, what to do when there’s no place to run.

He pounds his fists against the stone wall, thoughts of vengeance stir,

Get even is one of many stories made from a man’s angry mind.

An angry man does not see the road clearly, thinking is altered,

Eats him up inside, wasted energy but how is he to do it right.?

He has been wronged, he is an angry man and needs a smart plan,

An angry man he can be, can an angry man soon find his peace.

AMERICA IS A WAR

AMERICA IS A WAR

Everywhere, from land to land they are destroying,

Mass destruction, killing so many in foreign places.

They know and speak of us fore we are the center of attention,

Worry more about what’s happening over there, beware.

America is a war, we are fighting in the streets, hate is strong,

Who can we trust, only ourselves with eyes in the back of our heads?

There is more crime going on behind closed doors than in the dark of night,

Fighting for territory, drug wars, gangs in every town, out of control,

We need not worry about being destroyed by others as we will do this ourselves.

HE COULD SEE THE WORLD

HE COULD SEE THE WORLD

Blinded as a young boy, darkness filled his world,

Learned did he to put away his self -pity and begin to live.

Accepting his sightless land of nothing to be seen,

Again found something worthwhile he might be,

Helping and teaching those who become like he.

A miracle it was that a shock would give his sight back,

He could see the world, a second chance to again see,

This time not for granted taken, he could see, again free.

FROM YESTERDAY UNTIL TODAY

FROM YESTERDAY UNTIL TODAY

A child once was I, chasing butterflies, reaching for the sky,

Learning to ride a bike with the morning sun, my father close by.

Today is yesterday as I wake to the morning, a bowl of cereal, time for school,

A friend or two, we walk along a sidewalk that would grow old, we are now.

Slowly we were saying goodbye from each and every tire swing, Saturday cartoons,

Building a fort on a sunny afternoon, we were friends from a long time ago.

From yesterday are many thoughts and memories, I think of these today,

Yesterday we were a family which lived together, children and parents.

We were many as today we are scattered in different directions,

I recall being a boy, It seems like yesterday, yes! many yesterdays,

From yesterday until today We have changed with age, never the same.

A FATHER, A WIFE, AND YOU

A FATHER, A WIFE, AND YOU

Wondering why my hurt Is so much, let me tell you,

Once upon a time, this man was a boy, a boy with a dad.

Father left and went away, no goodbyes, no parades,

My love for him was very real, now just a dream, a dream.

Once together a wife had I, a family of five once upon a time,

Never Imagined that It could end, just a dreamer to have been.

Now there Is you so what can this much In love man do,

You’re here and there but are you anywhere, for me anywhere.

A father, a wife, and you, two are lost, Is there still for me, you.

HEARTBEAT OF THE WORLD

HEARTBEAT OF THE WORLD

From within, the earth rumbles, there’s heated liquid like blood,

Beating as a heart beats, energy, and life, power inside a complicated world.

Rise to the surface, thoughts, and wisdom, to learn becomes the brain not seen,

The flowing wind and air stand to be the breath, lungs of the land.

The moon that rests beyond the sky, the stars and planets that watch up high,

The eyes of the world could only be our creator god invisible to our sight.

Is it sadness in the world or tears of joy that make the sky cry,

A sacrifice as the water drops fall sustaining life and keeping beauty in sight.

Everything hears everything, ears of the land are everywhere,

The world lives as we live, take for granted and many things can do us in.

GUN IN HAND

GUN IN HAND

This world has changed but some things never do,

Just as the pioneers did and all life and lands before,

We live today in a much scarier world, gun in hand.

Weapons from the beginning of man, it is how we live,

Protect ourselves from the fear, what we cannot see.

Paranoia and the unknown live with us in our homes,

If not a gun in hand then always a thought, living as though.

In different ways we do, we all manage in such a way,

Our own gun in hand in this land in which we stand.
