JUST A WHISPER

JUST A WHISPER

When an evening breeze passes by, like a whisper,

In the night watch the stars, they move, a whisper.

The earth spins without a sound, just a whisper,

High in the sky a plane soars by, hear its whisper.

Breathing in the dark, she sleeps, a whisper heard,

Animals in the dark night wander, a quiet whisper.

A beautiful sound, just a whisper down the hall,

An echo through the hills, a whisper so long.

Listen beyond all the noise, just a whisper is fine.

JONATHAN

“JONATHAN”

Jealousy for a young girl would soon turn to grief,

Wishing selfishly that her newborn brother would never be.

Through coincidence and reasons only God knows, a brother dies,

Believing in her heart and mind that her bad thoughts are to blame

She travels far, high upon a mountain where closer to God she might be.

Tired, so very tired as she lays herself down upon the mountain ground,

Before she sleeps a prayer she makes to God for her brothers’ life in place of her own.

When the morning light shines this child awakes covered in warmth and a man with a smile,

Where did he come from as he asks how she slept and a bowl of hot porridge offered to her?

He asks of her journey there, he is a most unusual sort of man who appears to possess much wisdom,

She speaks of her conversation with God as he listens with a look of great understanding.

“What is your name she asks,” I am Jonathan! this is my mountain and you are far from home,

I wanted to be as high as possible so that God would hear me when I said I was sorry.

Listen, child! It’s not your fault, he has made his decision, your brother with him, you with your family,

Was this a miracle that a father found his daughter high on a mountain, was he shown the way,

Where was Jonathan, was he an angel,? she shared time with him, never again was he seen.

INSIDE MY BOOK

INSIDE MY BOOK

A life of thoughts lay in words beyond this cover,

Places I have seen or dreamed are remembered here.

Imagination, fantastic stories created from this mind,

So many places visited, each day a scene made up or recalled.

Inside my book are worlds not seen but for me dreamed,

There are those special lands where I once stood as a child.

Inside my book, there are things revealed about love and pain,

Friends thought of whom are between these pages, not seen.

That who I am rests here behind a cover, on paper saved,

My creation of emotion, fantasy, and dreams shared always.

HEART OF STONE

HEART OF STONE

Beats this heart, a strong yet fragile organ,

A complicated mystery that gives and sustains life.

There is no love in the heart, an emotion, state of mind,

We like to believe that a person has a big heart, not a good thing.

Speaking physically and emotionally, there are two hearts,

That one in your chest and a beautiful spirit of it that beats in your soul.

Some have a bad heart, a black heart that is sick with evil,

A heart of pure gold rests with those so gentle and kind.

The hardened heart that is created within a lifetime of mistrust,

A heart of stone, a piece exists in my spirit now as I’ve been hurt,

Let it grow I will not, keep chipping away to a heart of love and care.

HE WOULD RAISE THE FLAG

HE WOULD RAISE THE FLAG

An American, a patriot who did fight many battles,

His time spent in a prisoner of war camp was not pretty.

Doing that which he believed to be right was a high price,

A disgrace to his uniform but a man of principles and honor.

They could not break him, he would not crumble and fall,

He was not now less than who he was before, a man of strength.

He would speak of his rights, the rights of other prisoners,

He wanted to raise the flag, men would join him in his plight.

He would raise the flag and pay the ultimate price for the right,

Shot in the back, he died while the flag was high in flight.

FLESH AND BLOOD

FLESH AND BLOOD

A friend, a doctor, to them a healer of anything,

For granted they take this human being of care.

He is not god, not a miracle worker they should know,

Flesh and blood, no magical powers does he possess.

He could not save a life fore he is a mortal man,

How could they expect more from him, he didn’t understand,

Flesh and blood, they found out he was merely flesh and blood.

COLORS OF EMOTION

COLORS OF EMOTION

Sad was the day as a man passed my way, tear down his face,

Was blue the shade he wore as he faded beyond my sight?

Anger was in her heart, on her face shown through like fire,

Would red be a noticeable color, a shade she wears into her day?

Jealousy fills many thoughts from those with insecure hearts,

So is green your color chosen as you journey out into a world begins?

Fear Is an emotion, a boy was so afraid that he huddled in a corner,

Does he see yellow fore there’s a difference as he’s not a coward.

Pain and despair of the sick and elderly are seen in our world today,

Colors of emotion, do they wear, possess the images of black and purple,

What color of emotion do you wear regularly, what shade on this day?

A SUMMER NIGHT

A SUMMER NIGHT

When the sun goes down and the heat of day fades,

A quiet visits the night, crickets are alive yet not in sight.

Darkness has a certain feel to it, peaceful is my thought,

While many living things drift off to sleep day begins too.

Stars so bright hanging in stillness beyond what is sky,

The moon shows its light, high above it watches always,

A Summer night has its own beauty till mornings light.

BE NOT HERE

BE NOT HERE

Disappear, go away and leave me alone,

I don’t need you anymore, you bring nothing.

My energy is being drained, a piece taken away,

You’re out there but I need you not here.

Be not here whomever you are, stay away,

I’ve seen you in too many places around this world.

You’ve done much harm to me fore you are them,

You don’t have a place in my life, a disease you be.

Not to be trusted, worn by you are many faces,

Many faces you are, which might be the right one,

Be not here and I won’t have to wonder who you are.

ALONG A COUNTRY ROAD

ALONG A COUNTRY ROAD

These things I might find strolling along a country road,

From my mind, I can create a day or reality along my way.

I see the sun rising in the early morning sky, my day begins,

Dream do I of a perfect setting, fields, and hills of beautiful color.

Nothing can go wrong, not in this made up scene that I want to be,

Swim do I in a pond that appears along a country road, quiet and alone.

There is a wind blowing through the trees, across the field I feel,

Haystacks scattered in a country dream, a farm where I wish to be,

Along a country road, all possibilities unfold, from a dream, all that can be seen.
