BEYOND TERROR

BEYOND TERROR

Always at the mercy of someone, not only far away,

They are here, in our neighborhoods and schools,

Working side by side with a smile as they plan and plot.

Not always whom you might think or believe to be,

Others roam our land, from the inside quietly they stand.

Beyond terror, the street lights may go out, ATM’s of no value,

Chaos and panic fill the streets, computers shut down, at the mercy.

Terrorized from many directions, we shake hands, they are us,

Collapse in a moment, we are not in control, not even our homes,

No paranoia here, be aware, every moment be prepared.

BETWEEN DREAMS AND MEMORIES

BETWEEN DREAMS AND MEMORIES

I saw it when I was a child, a castle with stairs that went high,

At the top, a suit of armor like a knight from centuries long ago.

Why was I there, I do not recall such a place, the snow, many a face,

When I was young it was very real, was this a dream that I did feel?

A hall with many rooms from my eyes I did see, a ghost in white,

It wandered within this place, was it a thought as I slept on a night?

I went to sleep one night when I was seven, In my dream, God was a child,

My fingers were bones, never did I see such a scene ever again.

Knocked on my neighbors’ door, what appeared was never before,

A witch with such laughter, made me rise into the air, not so real.

Between dreams and memories, what I have seen may have been dreams,

That which I thought were dreams may have been by me, seen.

A GAMBLER

A GAMBLER

Spin the wheel, maybe a roll of the dice,

A bad hand at cards, so it’s said, you’ll lose your shirt.

Bet on a game, football, basketball, baseball, it’s all the same,

Your wallet is empty, credit cards are okay.

Horses are great, this time you feel lucky inside,

At the finish line, a house could be on the line.

Deal in drugs, surely a gambler you’ll be,

If it’s not the law, a dead man you might be.

A car thief is a risk, money at your feet,

End up in prison, oh! what a life you lead.

Ask of a loan shark, a favor please,

Put up your life, no friend indeed.

A gambler, a gambler, in each one of us may be,

What risks do you take for all that you need?

CATCH A DREAM

CATCH A DREAM

We chase, search out and run as fast as we can,

While we sleep the greatest things can happen,

Run do we very fast, jump so very high to touch the sky,

Jump on the rooftop, flips in the air, slow motion if you please.

Always for me money floating down a stream, a pile in the street,

Just as it is grabbed by my hand disappears does it as I become awake.

We all have been there when a monster chases us and then we are elsewhere,

Dreams are always so mixed up, at times tiring as we are in places of mystery.

Floating in the air, suddenly in a bubble, we drift onward to where nothing makes sense,

Catch a dream, hold on tight and bring it back home with you tonight, any night.

Catch a dream, dream, to be all that you hope to be, dream the perfect scene.

EXPRESSIONS

EXPRESSIONS

There are those with looks of a fear unexplained,

Scared of something, the world does not understand.

Laughing in the park, a man and woman,

Happy are their faces as seen from the street.

Crying all alone under a tree, tears of life,

Sadness spills out of a heart so broken.

Anger sits in the soul of a human being with hurt,

Upset at the loss of love’s rejection.

Many faces of this life worn, expressions learned,

Expressions so true, those of me, those of you.

AS LONG AS WE’RE TOGETHER

AS LONG AS WE’RE TOGETHER

Once in a while, I travel back in time to a place I walked,

Through my time of youth where I played and ran wild.

I knew of her as a child back in the day of mischief,

Young and full of energy were we, never seemed to be tired.

The heat from the Summer sun wasn’t so harsh at that age,

Growing up in a town of many friends and memories so great.

We lived for the moment as many moments would pass by into the future,

How is it that the grandparents we once had we have now become.?

We changed and went our separate ways, finding our way in this strange world,

Becoming parents, having children and grandchildren as the cycle goes.

Full circle as today we find ourselves in the same place after a lifetime apart,

As long as we’re together nothing else matters, time comes when we need to

Just think of ourselves and let all others live and move along into their future.

As long as we’re together, everything will forever be better.

CRY BY THE LIGHT OF THE NIGHT!

CRY BY THE LIGHT OF THE NIGHT!

When there’s nothing left, only those who are of destruction,

They live, but they are without a soul, a heart, any love connection.

Hunt we do for food, water gathered by the riverside, I cry,

How for personal gain and greed can it all be thrown away?

We run from the day, dodge by the dark of an endless night,

Sleep is rare, with an eye open weapons are to be a trusted friend.

There’s no time being afraid when you’re running for your life,

The thought of what’s right or wrong lives in your weary minds.

Cry by the light of the night! run in the darkness, seek daylight,

The battle may be strong, the war will end, I’ll be with you again.

CAN YOU SEE THE MOUNTAIN?

CAN YOU SEE THE MOUNTAIN

Has stood tall for centuries, some never see,

Winter is a most beautiful time and scene.

The winds blow around and through each tree,

Snow collects upon the branches, a picture does change.

Icicles form, hang on the aging stone, creeks are so cold,

Deer are quiet but yet they are seen, life is more than dreamed.

There is a mist in the air, fog wanders in different directions,

History lives within a mountain, Winters of struggle and cold,

Storms that carry blizzards from times of long ago.

SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN BED

SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN BED

Woke to the sound of rain, an aching head to start my day,

Tripped over the cat that scratched me as I fell.

I went for the shower but the water was turned off,

Out in the street, they were fixing a pipe, won’t go back on until the night.

A cup of coffee would have been nice,

If only I had gone shopping instead of drinking last night.

I put on my pants to go to the store,

Couldn’t get my car out of the driveway, the street was closed.

Back in the house, soaked by the rain,

What to do on such a lousy day.

Couldn’t watch t.v., the cable was out,

Put on the stereo, the power went out.

A drip on my head, this can’t be happening to me,

The roof had a leak, only eight in the morning, kill me I say.

I walked to the store, bought what I need,

On the way home, a car drenched me, groceries at my feet.

Should have stayed in bed, I didn’t know,

Another drink and a pill, back to sleep I’ll go.

Forget the rest of the day, can you see how it’s gonna go,

Maybe tomorrow I won’t have to know.

GOD IS IN THE RAIN

GOD IS IN THE RAIN

Clouds form, they turn dark with storm,

Drops fall from the sky, cold and warm.

More and more as they touch treetops,

Drip by drip they trickle down to the ground.

Into the rivers, flowing into the oceans as one,

Drops of rain cover lakes, slowly filling with time.

From the mountains, the water makes its way down,

Soaking the hills to create life, within the flowers and grass.

Let the rain fall, God is in the rain, In the drops that are upon you,

God is in the rain as it comes down, God soaks this world with life.
