STANDING IN THE RAIN

STANDING IN THE RAIN

It was dark, I glanced out of the window and saw him,

Tall with dark hair, a sweatshirt soaked from the falling rain.

Why was he out there, by a tree he stood watching the rainfall,?

Clouds of many, darkness was everywhere, he stood drenched.

I wasn’t going to open the door as I was curious but a little scared,

Was I mean for not showing care, He was a stranger, why was he there.?

Standing In the rain, where did he come from, what was his name,?

Good or bad, I did not care, I walked away and left him standing in the rain.

SITTING ON A TREE STUMP,

SITTING ON A TREE STUMP,

I WRITE

Saturday morning, early as the sun is shining down on my face,

Fall is here, there’s a coolness in the air, thoughts fill my head.

Under a beautiful oak tree of many years, I sit on this tree stump,

A stump that has a story, who might have been here before.

Sitting here I write, the land and world is my playground today,

By a creek with the sunlight looking down, I’m alone, a loud silence.

Sitting here on a tree stump I write my dreams down on paper,

I write about fantastic things that can never be done by me.

Possible adventures where I can travel down the road with a pen,

I have the imagination and power to create a world of hope and love.

Sitting on a tree stump I write poetry that I have hope will touch others,

Possibly make in their place a better day, I write all of you from a tree stump.

FEAR

” FEAR”

To walk alone, the growl of an unleashed dog,

In the dark of night with nobody else home.

A crowd of people watching as you attempt to speak,

Thoughts’ of the past, dreams’ of what yesterday may bring.

Crumble to the ground as the fear surrounds’ with no sound,

Do not cry, do not walk In circles, do not run, do not hide.

If eyes try to see through your windows’ of home,

Is It the thoughts’ In your mind or reality of the known.

Fear wears’ a face, It has a body and mind, It thinks’ and sees,

It remembers’ the painful monster, It Is you and me.

ALL THAT I SEE

All that I see

Far In the distance, I see hills’ standing still,

Trees of green blowing In the breeze, falling leaves.

Grass of green that I see below me, vision of paradise,

A lake that sits’ beneath the sky, this sky sometimes cries.

I am a dreamer who sees with heart and soul,

All that I see Is not only a dream.

TRAIN RIDE

TRAIN RIDE

Awaiting its arrival as hear it comes to take me away,

Sounds like thunder rumbling down the track, whistling.

Puffing black smoke up into the air, its headlight shining,

This monster of steal is here, time for me to climb aboard.

Listen to the hissing from this steam engine, hear it,

We take off, heading through the hills with much to see.

From out of the window, stare do I as we pass through,

Darkness from within a mountain, carved out a passage.

Tons of rock and dirt hanging above us as we travel,

Moving through this tunnel into the light, sun going down.

I listen to the sound of the power of this traveling train,

Out of the window is a clear sky as the light from the full moon

Shines down, guiding our way through the land.

A BIG HEART

A BIG HEART

He was a small man but only in height,

He would lose his wife as a child was born.

Lou was his name, a man so kind,

Trying to survive, taking care of his daughter.

A job was needed, treated like some kind of freak,

Turned away, desperate, he would steal for a meal.

This is not who he was, why are people so ignorant and mean,

Confined to jail by one who did not care, a much needed favor.

A daughter in danger, this little man with a big heart was needed,

Risk his life he would, even for those who did look down upon,

A big heart in a man who did appear to stand taller than all.

A BEGGER, A THIEF

A BEGGER, A THIEF

He wanders the streets, a taste for food, a thirst for drink,

Cold to the bones, waiting for a warm place to sleep.

Asking for that which comforts his pain,

Pride and self respect are put aside.

A human being, a man with a story,

A begger today without any glory.

Taking what he wants, no morals or remorse,

Criminal thoughts, a good man not.

Working for nothing, he does not care,

He steals anything, he has no heart.

A thief many times over, a quitter of sorts,

A begger, a thief, so many differences of course.

NOTHING

NOTHING

At one time or another everything was nothing,

One day in time nothing would and will turn to everything.

Nothing is a word used in many ways, decay into nothing,

” You are nothing” can be a lifetime emotional scar that haunts.

What are you doing? a friend or child may respond with nothing!

I did nothing today, you must have done something, nothing can not be done.

Nothing can be so lonely, as it can not be seen, it does not have any dreams,

” I have nothing to live for” listen close, as we all have the greatest things to live for.

I was nothing until I met you, I was more than I thought before it was me and you,

Nothing is only a word, it is a sound that many a soul has heard with a word.

GIFT FOR AN OLD MAN

GIFT FOR AN OLD MAN

He rests in a wheelchair, he does not walk,

An old man is not the proper phrase for you,

A human being, a man with feelings from the heart.

Wheelchair bound, how much longer will he be around,

A wish may be granted, a grandson in a high school play.

There would be no way to go until a special man would make it so,

A wheel chair ambulance, a request to a boss, an offer from a heart.

On his day off, someone I know, Timothy Harling from an Indiana town,

My girlfriends’ son, a gift for an old man makes him on this day, number one.

An EMT, six foot seven but gentle as a soul can be, Southbend is where he dreams,

This is to you, Tim, to give of your self, make an old man smile and his wish come true.

Timothy Harling, South Bend, Indiana.

GIVE ME STRENGTH

GIVE ME STRENGTH

Days can be a struggle at times, feeling much alone,

Physical pain and emotional scars are hard fought.

Stress and the desire to overcome tire a body and mind,

Worries of the time keep a soul from sleep in the night.

Give me strength to make it through beyond this coming sunset,

Guide me into my day of many challenges that tear at my heart.

Wisdom would be a true gift as I try to better my life and self,

Thank you for listening as there is much hope as I stand strong.
