UNDER A TREE, SHE CRIES

UNDER A TREE, SHE CRIES

A sunny day, a shaded tree, she rests,

See her do I as passing by, she cries.

Why do you he tears, what makes you cry,?

Such a beautiful day, do things not go your way.?

Why do I cry asks the man walking by, why,?

A friend has just died, she wanders now in the sky.

Sick was she as on this day God has taken her away,

Forever missed will be a friend of mine, not fair I say.

Hear what I say as under a tree you cry,

Her pain and suffering are no more, listen too just why.

She lies on the earth as her spirit so happy, says goodbye,

Laughing with Angels, walking forever with the lord up so high.

Under a tree she cries, I walked her way at a most perfect time.

TWO ON A SWING

TWO ON A SWING

Here we are in the late afternoon, the sun going down,

I came by your house to say hello, it’s been some time.

I can’t believe it’s almost Summer can you,?

I see you still have that porch swing your dad put up.

How has everything been going for you since I’ve been gone,?

I’m glad, I can only stay for a while, you do understand.

Remember the days when we would just talk and sit on your swing,

The weekends in the Summer sun, laughing and not a worry to be found.

We were just kids, young, times like those are memories of fun,

I could see your tears when I had to leave this place.

I’m in your heart as you’ll forever be in mine,

Let’s just sit here for a while until the sun fades,

I’ll never go away, remember two on a swing in those Summer days.

A WALK THROUGH THE YEAR

A WALK THROUGH THE YEAR

Oh yes! January and the beginning of a new year, Winter chill,

All the possibilities and love are here, we move into tomorrow,

A new sunrise is here, we watch as the ever aging of life is clear.

February is nice, a crisp, cool, feeling to the nights, love is in the air,

Set your eyes upon the mountain tops as they are still layered with snow,

A few family birthdays, a slight feel of Winter, rain and some sunny days.

As we follow our path March is the scene, soon Spring is the theme,

We’ll experience this changing season, longer days will arrive, sunset in the night,

Breezy days and clouds of thunder may still pass our way but this is okay.

Here we go! April shows its look with the blooming flowers everywhere,

The cold is pretty much a memory and Easter is a special day to celebrate,

Beautiful days to awake to, a walk in the park, breeze filled afternoons, the moon after dark.

May as the warm days seem a bit longer, Cinco De, Mayo and a thought of school coming to an end,

This I remember from a lifetime ago that seems like a dream but the seasons still remain,

Nature everywhere is alive, what this month holds for all of us will a little at a time unfold.

June, at times June gloom, Summer coming soon, saying goodbye to a school and at times, a friend,

Heated days are here or making their way, a time for planning a future, college and going away,

Maybe a Summer job, sleeping in was a thing we did when the past was our time to play.

What does July bring, heat of many days, the fourth of July, a day of Independence and celebration,

Summer of fun continued as the beach is a beautiful place to swim in the waves and walk along the shore,

Camping trips to beautiful and peaceful places where you can find yourself or just let go.

August even sounds hot, middle of the Summer, hot and dry with the sun high in the sky,

Always waiting for evening to show, praying for a cool breeze to blow across your face,

The dark of night is such a wanted sight as all becomes still and quiet until mornings light.

Say hello to September, still quite warm outside but the days slowly get shorter by the minute,

As we move into the future of this year and Fall is fast coming, what are we thinking,

Back to school, the future of our children, and our world is questioned as we go about the day.

Take a walk with me into October as the days become minute by minute a little shorter,

Weather stays warm through the days until night falls and temperatures become cooler,

Watch as the leaves begin to change their color, all Hallows Eve will be soon approaching.

There is a sight and sound to November with the leaves falling from the trees, wind from the hills,

Growing colder with the shortened days, Thanksgiving soon will be a feast, thankful for the days,

Once long ago a first celebration of Thanksgiving a different way, pilgrims and Indians, a long ago memory.

We find ourselves now after a long road of ups and downs stepping into a time of December,

The cold winds and snow high above within the mountains, Winter Is just about here, Christmas prayers,

The life of a year will soon come to an end, saying goodbye to many yesterdays, thankful for a year lived.

TURN AROUND

TURN AROUND

Wherever you may be standing then there’s something to see,

Watch what’s In front of you, keep your eyes on the horizon.

Be ever so careful, always on that which surrounds your world,

Turn around, something Is there, what might It be, beware.

There are times when we need to turn around and see yesterday,

Remember where we have come from and what we have learned.

Turn around once In awhile to your past, look hard to see friends missed,

Turn around to understand, see your regrets but leave them there.

We can turn around too many things, always be able to see what’s behind,

There’s no turning back to yesterday except In your thoughts and aging mind.

TRAVEL WITH THE WIND

TRAVEL WITH THE WIND

Everywhere I would be and the places I would see,

High and low, fast and slow, across the fields we go.

Through the trees, the wind and me, blowing leaves,

I need not hang on, it just carries me away as I feel free.

To travel with the wind I am light with not a worry,

I am guided within this incredible force of nature.

I am shown exciting and beautiful scenes as beyond a dream,

Above the ocean so high, touching the wide open sky.

Travel with the wind through the green grassed hills,

In the forest dodging the trees, it is the wind and me.

If I had the chance then I would travel to the past to see,

Travel with the wind through time, see what used to be,

To the future where the wind will surely be waiting for me.

TOUGH ON THE SCREEN

TOUGH ON THE SCREEN

Keith Garrett

Heroes or bad guys, they played them all,

These stars of the movies, where are they now.?

A man named Cagney, Edward G. Robinson too,

John Garfield, Audie Murphy was quite a hero.

Jack Palance, a tough man for sure,

John Wayne,” the duke” was a man of strength.

Clint Walker and Richard Boone, big as can be,

Forrest Tucker, James Coburn, men of the screen.

Marlon Brando had a name as big as life,

James Dean was a rebel, Richard Widmark was mean.

Fess Parker was a big man, Gary Cooper so great,

Spencer Tracy awesome, Humphrey Bogart one of a kind.

Clark Gable, Anthony Quinn, greatness back in time,

Charlton Heston and Gregory Peck, actors so fine.

Lee Marvin, what a look, Charles Bronson, one so tough,

Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster, the talent of two.

Yul Brynner, magnificent a star, Robert Mitchum bad or good,

Sean Connery, accent with a gun, George Peppard, blue eyes and tough.

Tall and mean, Clint Eastwood and a lifetime of movies,

Lee Van Cleefe, a man with a glare, Steve Mcqueen, big on the screen.

Jack Nicholson, Peter Fonda, and Dennis Hopper on their riding machines,

Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall, they played the hero, they did it all.

Robert Ryan or Robert Taylor back in the day, tough some would say,

Michael Landon, Robert Urich, Lee Majors, they all were great.

Robert Conrad was tough, the wild, wild, west,

William Shatner in charge, star trek, and Outerspace.

TRAIL OF TEARS

TRAIL OF TEARS

There appear to be two sides to our mysterious existence,

We can believe the devil exists but I believe and have faith in God.

There are those who are of evil, those who are of much good,

Throughout time many have cried, shed tears over experiences In their time.

Tears of happiness walking down the Aisle, a firstborn child.

A graduating son, that first grandchild who Is loved so much,

Happiness within yourself and happiness for others may bring tears.

The death of a loved one, a friend will bring tears of plenty, loss In one’s life,

Bombs bursting across many saddened lands, starving children with no chance.

Killing of Innocent animals, homeless souls wandering since It all began,

Trail of tears run for the destruction of Civilizations from lifetimes ago.

Horrifying, needless, slaughter of people because they are different,

The good and bad, happy and sad bring to us our trail of tears.

TRAPPED INSIDE

TRAPPED INSIDE

This world of mine was at one time much larger to these eyes,

When all at once that which is out there made me start to hide.

Not knowing that somewhere deep inside there was a pain not described,

Slowly I started to run from myself but there was no escape from the monster,

I will not call it he or she as it deserves no respect for the damage it does to my soul.

Once i could run anywhere, travel the roads feeling so light on my feet, how sweet,

A clear mind free from the invisible suffering that man has put a name upon.

There remains out there a piece of life, kept from myself by only me, I want to be free,

Keeps me does it from wandering, seeing the beauty of the land as I can only dream.

Trapped inside, wishing a large part of me did not have to hide from what can not be described,

A haunting worse than any physical hurt that can be felt, it eats you up from within.

It follows you like your shadow, fear that holds no definition from a book or mouth,

Trapped inside as there’s a powerful will to survive, no miracles as I’ll make it through.

TOGETHER THEY WALKED

TOGETHER THEY WALKED

Boys of mischief, boys with adventurous hearts,

On a journey to find the breathless one.

Four young boys with a story, each one,

Growing up was hard, struggle to find themselves.

Together they were happy, strong with hope,

A road they would travel, together they walked.

Camp by night, a fire and friends,

Shared their pain and fear, dreams and wishes.

They could speak their thoughts because no other ears would listen,

Never again would they experience together any times like these.

Together they walked, four boys as friends,

Lost with the crowd as time went by,

They all would soon grow up to become men.

Friends drifted to become never again,

Now in heaven rests the breathless one.

TODAY

“TODAY”

We are here in today, the morning begins with possibilities,

This is a new moment, the beginning of your new life.

Wake up! open the windows and see the light of day,

Smell the air as it gives life to all living things of the world.

Today is your chance to begin again and see what’s out there,

Make this a great day, a chance to change many things.

Today is not like yesterday a time already written forever,

Nothing like tomorrow which tells us nothing with empty pages.

Today is a special time of year as we know of it to be our only day,

We live in the moment, for the moment, nothing more precious than it.
