FUNERAL FOR ONE

FUNERAL FOR ONE

Life is lived to its fullest having friends who last a lifetime

The people you meet along the street, throughout school and beyond.

Co- workers known for such a long while, do you make them laugh and smile,

What mark, what lasting Impression will you leave upon the world.

Will there be those who will really care enough to be there for those moments,

We always hope that family is the most important of all from beginning to end.

The sad fact being that a lifetime can add scars and create a wedge between,

At times family and friends may, unfortunately, drift apart and not return.

Sometimes we do make amends before in our lives too late it is,

That’s not always the reality of things as regrets are for everyone.

If it’s not too late then visit, call on the phone, don’t die alone,

This is not the way you should go away, not a send off for you,

Funeral for one is not much love shown for anyone.

FROM THESE EYES SEEN

FROM THESE EYES SEE

What do I dream, look into my eyes, what do I see,

To you are my eyes beautiful, what do your eyes see.?

My eyes shine in the light, they’re a color of brown,

A face I wear but you do not see, you will not see me.

From these eyes seen are amazing and wonderful things,

In my time there have been tears shown to you, why.?

These eyes take in all that will appear before them,

Do you know me, have you seen me before.?

FROM THE DARKNESS

FROM THE DARKNESS

There’s a sound, stare into the darkness,

Footsteps are there, listen to the crunching of leaves.

What’s in the dark,? can you see that it’s real,

Does it watch you as you try to see, can it smell your fear.?

From the darkness, it moves closer but much too dark,

Out of the darkness it is you who cannot step.

Feel it as you know it is there, you know that it stares,

Your eyes are open but only for you, darkness is everywhere.

What is it that haunts the one who lives in the dark,?

Could it be all the sounds that you do not see?

From the darkness, you cannot wander,

From the darkness, you cannot be.

WHEN YOU WENT AWAY

WHEN YOU WENT AWAY

Hey! Mom, I remember you from yesterday,

Today you are in another place, a different space.

Wherever you are, near or far, peace rests with you,

When you went away, with you went your special face.

I once saw you on a rainy day, you were gone before the sun went away,

You are kept alive with all that I write, forever walk at my side.

Mom, I did not see you enough as for granted we take, a price we pay,

Thinking you would forever be, a fantasy from a child I once did see.

FROM OUT OF MY WINDOW

FROM OUT OF MY WINDOW

I gazed outside at a bird on a limb,

So many clouds made my light very dim.

The things I see are not so new,

From out of my window, a simple view.

I stand here watching as time goes by,

I listen for the sound, I can hear nature cry.

The wind passes by, through the trees It blows,

Stare out at the night, watch as the moon glows.

As day becomes night and the night turns to day,

Time does not stand still but from out of my window

I see things my own way.

FROM A CHILDS MIND

FROM A CHILDS MIND

The innocence of a child, we can see it every day while they run and play,

Close your eyes and think back, think hard to a place where once you were young.

Thinking as only a child may think and imagine the world as the perfect playground,

For the average, dreaming, child death is a lie, an imaginary story in a scary book.

Fairytales are a reality like living forever or as I did believe one hundred years was life,

As a young boy, I would lay down on the sidewalk feeling the warmth of the sun,

Listening to the airplanes fly high in the sky with my eyes closed, pretending many things.

From a child’s mind, it is a world of magic, rainbows, and that anything is possible exists,

Energy of a different kind is possessed, energy that an adult one day can not again find.

From a childs mind, most things are simple, reason or logic has no place in their magical space,

The innocence and magic of a child will suddenly disappear into the adult world where the

Reality of survival, racism, hatred, and war will soon take their long ago Innocence far away.

FROM 18 UNTIL TODAY

FROM 18 UNTIL THIS DAY

Much younger was I back when the sun rose much higher in the sky,

Still but a teenager as once a thought that I might have been a man.

When I was eighteen I was going to the beach, dreaming about life ahead,

Long blonde hair and searching for that always wanted Summer tan.

The sun begins to move west and I go beyond those teen years,

I follow the sun, it looks down upon me each morning then I chase it.

I walk the road, I live my life, the sun travels further than I can run,

The more I follow then the older I seem, I have dreamed, no more eighteen.

I am older than some friends once were, older than a father gone far away,

From 18 until this day I have changed in different ways, the sun now halfway.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH

FREEDOM OF SPEECH

Freedom of speech, the words, phrase, and the meaning are not clear,

It Is our right we are told that speak we may In public our own way.

There Is no such thing as saying what you’re thinking out loud In the streets,

They say that It’s your right but you better be careful of what you are saying.

How much freedom of speech do we really have, I do know not that much,

I had my Attorney tell me about freedom of speech, that anyone can say what they want.

There is no freedom of speech In the workplace, try It and see what happens,

Management can not call you names, sing songs over the radio about you and your problems.

They can not make fun with a tune about the tragedy’s Of your life In front of customers,

Stress and harassment are the words that come to mind, Ignore them Is not an option.

There may be freedom of speech to a point but there Is something called rights,

People are killed depending on how they choose to use their speech, there are rules.

Watch what you speak as there are those with the power to make you go away,

Freedom of speech is a right, there are consequences when not done the way some

Want, watch what you say, freedom of speech holds a high price today.

FIRESTORM

FIRESTORM

Like a tornado, it appears suddenly, out of nowhere it attacks,

Burning heat that rages on a path of destruction without remorse.

Visible fire, a monster that with its touch can make life disappear,

With the help of natural wind, this creation man made or not builds strength.

It consumes without fear, tireless, always hungry as it makes its way anywhere,

Smoke fills the sky, dark, thick, smoke travels upward into the atmosphere.

The birds fly, watch as the animals run with great fear through the hills of flame,

Survival is the only game being played today, the losers will forever go away.

Firestorm, Destroys does it a piece of our beautiful world with every attack,

Sometimes forever gone, healing of the land takes so long, scars are never gone.

FADES DOES THE PICTURE

FADES, DOES THE PICTURE

A reel to reel movie, a painting so old,

An old photo album covered in dust.

Growing up in a town long since gone,

Relics, skeletons from our yesterday.

Memories are not so clear, gone with the years,

Sometimes forgotten, at times not remembered.

Blocking out things we wish no longer to see,

The mind is a special place of reality and fantasy.

Sometimes we try to go back from within, inside,

Finding that we are lost, our way is like a fog.

Fades, does the picture, scenes of our time,

A little taken away, as we age from day to day.
