A BASEBALL DREAM

A BASEBALL DREAM

On a farm, he grew up, the early days of the game,

A bat of his own was made from a tree that stood alone.

He had a name for his bat, a certain magic it contained,

Circumstances would get in the way, a dream put aside.

Disappeared without a trace until he arrived on a day,

His special bat carried in hand, this was to be his last chance.

For only a moment he would stand beneath the lights,

A baseball dream before he faded into the night.

NOISES FROM THE SKY

NOISE FROM THE SKY

With a rumble, it rolls across the clouded sky,

This force of nature sounds angry as it goes by.

With a crack and a boom, it cries out from above,

Like the pounding of drums echoing down upon all.

Noise from the sky, thunder by its name,

A miracle of nature or the release of the universes pain.

A CHANGING SEASON

A CHANGING SEASON

Leaves of red and green, leaves turning brown,

Leaves falling all around, they fall and touch the ground.

Floating on down, wherever I’m walking, raining leaves,

Suddenly a gentle breeze, blowing leaves beyond the trees.

Nights showing up sooner as the days become shorter,

Temperatures are dropping as the warmth of day, earlier goes away.

A changing season is constant and repeats itself with the changing years,

Beautiful become the emptying trees, naked and alive without their leaves.

Slower does nature grow as soon getting ready to take that deserved rest,

The animals are beginning to collect and store for what’s next.

A changing season sets in motion a cycle of never ending energy and life.

1969

1969

I was a child in 1969, I had not a clue of the world,

I knew of certain things, those of which I lived through.

Riding my bike and a deadly Halloween night, that’s right,

I remember all that I did as a kid, a lifetime ago and a family,

Vietnam was a reality and I was protected by my childish world.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid, Clint Eastwood was the man,

Raindrops keep falling on my head, Simon and Garfunkel were grand.

Scooby Doo and all of the colorful cartoons that I knew, I think of you,

Baseball with the miracle Mets, Bill Russell, and the champion Celtics,

Joe Namath with his Guarantee, the Jets beat the Colts, Charles Manson, and history.

The Innocence of the Brady Bunch, walk on the moon, Led Zeppelin and a tune,

1969 was the year when love and innocence were mixed with my day.

100 YEARS FROM TODAY

100 YEARS FROM TODAY

Yesterday, what we see as hundreds of years ago is gone,

History it is to us, read about in books of long lost times.

The days are always moving along, we do take for granted the morning,

The setting sun is a most spectacular sight, heading into the night.

Here where we stand may still be standing, another will be standing,

100 years from today the world that we know will have much changed.

Just as we wonder what life was like back in a time of cowboys and pioneers,

Tomorrow’s people will also wonder and read about our time and place.

100 years from today we will be a part of history, others will be amazed,

Just as we are amazed and dream of those times when the world appeared to be a dream.

A CHANCE TO SEE

A CHANCE TO SEE
A chance to see fore never have I been able to walk in light,
A chance to watch the sunrise as never before seen but dreamed.
A chance to see the trees sway in the wind as the wind never seen,
A chance to see the mountains that I never thought a reality.
A chance to see the clouds so big in the sky drifting slowly by,
A chance to see the waves in the ocean only heard through time.
A chance to walk without a cane, to be free, walk, and see,
A chance to see a smiling face that might smile back at me.
A chance to see all the things that I have always dreamed,
A chance to see what’s never been before these eyes,
A chance, a chance, to see what is in front of me.

NO WAY TO KNOW 2.

Page 2.

No matter what the stars may say or all the scribes may write,

You are the one and only one of whom I dream tonight.

You are the only one who has the sweet, enduring charms,

To keep me in your company and hold me in your arms.

To walk around the Winter and wake me in the Spring,

With hope of life eternal and with faith in everything.

I look to you for sympathy and courage in the dawn,

And for your smile throughout the day until the sun is gone.

You are the only one on earth who means so much to me,

No matter what the moment or wherever you may be.

NO WAY TO KNOW 1.

Page 1.
NO WAY TO KNOW

If you had just believed me, dear, that day so long ago,

If you had listened to me when we wandered thru the snow.

It might have been a brighter and better life for you,

And maybe, dear, I could have made your cherished dreams come true.

Of course, I know it could have been the other way around,

And maybe what you wanted then you never would have found.

But maybe, on the other hand, the things you wanted then,

We’re not the ones you should have had or you would seek again.

And there is just no way today to know what joy you miss,

But, O’ I wish your lips had been the only ones I kissed.

Each time I write you, darling I pen what lips can’t say,

For you are in my heart, dear although you’re far away.

My words carry a meaning that love alone can tell,

They send you newborn faith and hope and always wish you well.

They say that I am lonely but that I’ll wait for you,

Because I know beyond all else our love is good and true.

They send a prayer to keep you safe and bring you home to me,

So we can share the years ahead and paradise we’ll see.

Yes, dearest, in each line I write go pieces of my heart,

NO TITLE

NO TITLE

There are so many words of love that I want to say to you,

And special deeds to please your heart that I would like to do.

There are so many wishes and so many dreams to share,

And all the other ways to tell how much I truly care.

And I could buy you presents, dear and promise you the moon,

And I could fashion you a song around a perfect tune.

But all I ever think about is just to let you know,

That I adore you every day and it is really so.

That you mean more than every breath and all the atmosphere,

And I could never be more sure and never more sincere.

I only have one life to live and I want to live it with you,

I only have one heart to give and I want to give it to you.

The years that are gone won’t ever return, the years ahead are precious and few,

So since I only have one life to live, I want to live it with you.

NO THOUGHTS TODAY

NO THOUGHTS TODAY

Not a poem do I write this day, not a thought to display,

I have not much to say, written words are few, what can I say.

My mind seems a bit tired, weary am I from a few years of war,

I’m thinking but all is scrambled, trying too hard is a tiring job.

Some projects, working in the yard will be of peace as I wonder,

I’m sure that I will come back here and visit as the day moves on.

No thoughts today as I set my mind at ease, disappear into a quiet place,

I need to breathe easy and take myself away but I will return soon,

No thoughts today, as you may read, I have not much to say.
