BROKEN HEARTS

BROKEN HEARTS

When I looked into their faces I saw hopelessness, lost,

Contact from their eyes was little, I saw shame, it’s ours.

We made and brought sandwiches and hot coffee to the hungry,

He was sitting there at a table in the park where many others gather.

Bundled in the clothing worn mostly everyday they are people, human beings,

They each one have a story to be told, listened too as they all have no home.

Called worthless, society as a whole turns their backs on them, are they not worthwhile,

I could feel the broken hearts from where I stood, a young one my girlfriend asked “are you hungry”,?

Yes! he replied Immediately, eating a sandwich in seconds, other words, “I haven’t had coffee in a while.

These things taken for granted by most, I feel some shame as i worry about myself and my pain,

I didn’t put them there, this i know, i have the power to make a piece of Christmas for them better,

A handshake and a Merry Christmas back to us they replied, broken hearts, piece by piece mended.

BROKEN GLASS

BROKEN GLASS

Without any shoes, I carefully walk,

Each step I take a chance to be cut.

All around me, I can’t see every piece,

One is sure to find me if cautious I’m not.

Where are my shoes, why aren’t they on,?

A lot safer I’d be, less chance to be hurt.

There’s broken glass everywhere,

Watch the way you step and you’ll not be wounded.

BREATHE FOR ME

BREATHE FOR ME

Step outside Into the morning light, Breathe deep, breathe In life,

Precious Is the day, whom doesn’t give thanks for many a breath always.

Breathe for me as your life force Is seen with each day, with eyes of green,

Breathe for me so that you don’t go away, for you I ‘ll breath more each day.

God gives the breath of life but for granted It Is that all the world takes,

Air Is special, the cleaner It remains the happier and longer we might be.

Breathe for me, Breathe In all the life there Is to be.

BILLY THE KID

BILLY THE KID

A story to tell as on the eve of the civil war it would come to be a birth.

An Irish neighborhood in New York city, November twenty third eighteen fifty nine.

William Henry McCarty JR. later known as the infamous outlaw Billy the kid.

A mother known as Katherine, a father unknown, a little boy would never know.

William H. Bonney would one day join the Lincoln County war, life would become short.

Legend tells that he killed twenty one men, later a folk hero is told.

Five foot nine he stood, blue eyes, smooth complexion, sometimes a friendly sort.

Some say he was a neat dresser, liked to sport his mexican sombrero.

Billy was skilled with firearms, a cowboy, gambler, cattle rustler, he was an outlaw.

Sheriff Pat Garrett would come to hunt him down, Billy was only a kid, what waited for him.

He was cornered, shot and killed by a man, a lawman July fourteenth eighteen eighty one.

He was only twenty one when his life ended, a young man dies back in a time at Fort Sumner

New, Mexico, Pat shot him down, He was an outlaw but he was once a mother’s son.

Rest in peace Billy the kid.

BEYOND MY REACH

BEYOND MY REACH

With my hand stretched to the sky I cannot touch the stars so high,

Nor the clouds, a falling star, or the sun going down.

The wind, I cannot grab hold, a bird in flight,

A dream in the night, never a yesterday.

Beyond my reach is not my dreams,

It is not that which I pray for.

The hand of god I cannot touch, in my heart I can surely take hold,

It is not hope, nor faith, it is not a tomorrow.

Beyond my reach are many things,

Beyond my reach is not everything.

BETWEEN WHAT IS AND WHAT IS NOT

BETWEEN WHAT IS AND WHAT IS NOT

The universe exists all around us but do aliens really exist,

We can see the sun resting in the sky, no pot of gold over a rainbow.

Mountains formed, standing above so tall, not a bigfoot between the trees,

The moon is for us a reality, no face or a man lives up there alone.

Ireland and green grass are for real, across the sea they do appear,

leprechaun’s I have never seen, four leaf clovers bring luck in a dream.

Castles of old stand on many lands, stories of them for centuries are told,

Magical spells and fire breathing dragons, were they ever seen or felt.

Between what is and what is not are fables and tall tales handed down,

Fantasies and all that is real live in our minds or before us we see.

BETWEEN MAN AND WOMAN

BETWEEN MAN AND WOMAN

Dressed so beautifully under the open sky,

Underneath a leafless tree, this man and woman stand.

In a suit of black, a handsome man with her on a hill,

This beautiful woman appears dressed in a gown of color.

Where might they have been, fore which this occasion,

Between man and woman, love shared, love between.

“BILLY JACK”

“BILLY JACK”

Hatred was not what he was about, time would make him hate worldly things,

Hurt was something he did not want to put upon any man, he would be forced to fight.

He had a temper, beliefs that would put him and those he loved in harm’s way,

He was not wrong, society and those of corruption decided he was not in the right.

Integrity of one man, again he would stand as one tin soldier against the wrong,

He stands at times alone, not without love of the people, against the corrupted souls.

“Billy Jack” I read about you as a child, I sat under a tree as a dreaming boy for a while,

A book that made me want to see more, A movie, a man, and much, much, more.

You were a war hero just as you did see what was wrong with government and war,

Never did you run or hide, you went away at times to find peace, to be alone.

Not a criminal or murderer as you defended against those whom would do you wrong,

Society saw things a different way when you took off your boots and raised a gun your way,

On the bloody morning after one tin soldier rides away then back he would stay.

BEHIND GREEN EYES

BEHIND GREEN EYES

The world is so puzzling to me as I think about,

I see many things on my daily trek around this land.

As the holidays are upon us there is much hustle and bustle,

People moving faster, too much of a rush as they burden themselves.

I watch the cars as they forget to stop at the crosswalks, racing,

I see the joyful faces and sadness that wanders from here too there,

The weather changes with a new season and I behind green eyes see it.

Everything appears before me, the morning light, a Winter night sky,

Walking downtown among the colorful lights, a fast pace and searching eyes,

Behind green eyes there appear many coming Christmas sights.

BEEN AWAY

I haven’t been posting for a few days, I eat right and exercise but I was walking with headphones and I thought I was having back spasms but the pain was getting worse.

I went to the hospital and while I was waiting for a test the next day I had a jolting pain

Through my face and eyes, I couldn’t believe It when while about ten people were coming toward me a doctor said you are having a heart attack, I was scared to death.

I was lucky and had surgery, I got home today, I was in the right place on that day.

I’ll be posting again,

Thanks for reading.
