WATCHING THE HORIZON

WATCHING THE HORIZON

Early morning with my feet sinking in the sand, I stand,

A breeze swirling around me as I gaze upon the waves.

The sound of them crashing on the beach is quite peaceful,

Water makes its way swiftly up to my waiting feet.

The sun rises from the dark to see the day, I watch as the light shines,

Watching the horizon line as it separates the now from the other side.

There’s a whole new world out there beyond what is seen in front of me,

Amazing as below the moving waters lives a world like no other.

Creatures of number travel and exist together beneath what we know,

Still a mystery is the ocean floor, I stand here in the sand in amazement.

Watching the horizon takes me away to many places I’ve not yet seen.

WANDERING IN THE DARK

WANDERING IN THE DARK

There have been times in my life when I have stumbled, fallen,

I have always picked myself up and endured what has happened.

I have wandered in the dark many times in my life, not in the physical sense,

At times lost and alone was I as a child growing up, a sense of fear filled me.

Being shy, not very big as there were bullies of the world lurking in the shadows,

Wandering in the dark as I could not see the possibilities or answers all around me.

To be strong mentally, to achieve by pushing on, overcome obstacles never so great,

When you can understand that you need not fear another man as he like you is of flesh and blood,

Stand strong just as once a man of flesh and blood stood for what he believed, possibly some fear.

To wander in the dark comes in many forms, to find the light, see it, takes a little wisdom, strength,

And a belief in yourself that you are as important, special, and faith will guide you by the hand.

WATCH THE WIND

WATCH THE WIND

The trees dance and sing, they speak,

Swaying back and forth up above.

Leaves and many material things are swept away through the streets,

See the windows shake to what moves.

Grass is like a flowing wave,

There’s a presence that moves.

The sea crashes against the rocks,

It’s a force that drives its course.

There lies within the eyes a picture,

From all that it does, a form exists,

Watch the wind, see it travel, watch the wind.

WASHED UP ON THE SHORE

WASHED UP ON THE SHORE

Awake did I lying on the shore, soaked were my clothes,

Under the morning sun, waves crashing on the sand.

I think to myself about the last night’s storm, I survived,

Unless this is a beautiful Island heaven, I am alive!

Dry off in the sun, time to think and plan before this day is done,

I’ll find a spot to rest and sleep, what to eat, catch a fish, fruit possibly.

I need to keep a cool head as I might not be rescued soon, maybe not at all,

How am I blessed in my all alone mess, I’m alive! I could have died.

I can bathe, swim, find some wood, a fire is not an impossible task,

No crime or sin, not a siren or noise that brings pain to an ear.

Not a threat against me except that of men against nature,

I can call this place hell or home depending on my outlook.

Quiet nights and peaceful days, walks along the shore okay,

Washed up on the shore, God is with me, judged no more.

WALK WITH ME, SEE, AND DREAM

WALK WITH ME,
SEE, AND DREAM

Let’s walk, we’ll see, and dream,

Do you see the mountains that touch the sky,

Do you dream that they’ll always stand so high.?

Look at the clouds that pass on by casting shadows,

See the clouds, see and dream.

Walk with me into the forest, do you see the animals moving,

Dream that nature will survive, dream the animals will forever be.

Upon the sand we stand looking out at the horizon,

See the waves before your eyes, will the ocean forever be.?

The sun will rise, away go the shadows and darkness,

Watch as the sun rises, do you see, dream that it will rise each day.

When the sun sets, a full moon will glow tonight,

Tell me you see the moon in the sky,

Dream the moon will never die.

The snow sets upon the ground, we see it fall all around,

Together let’s dream the snow we’ll always see.

Do you see the trees dance in the wind, see the trees,

The wind we can not see, dream that the trees and wind will never leave.

Walk with me, see, and dream.

WAKE TO THE MORNING SOUNDS

WAKE TO THE MORNING SOUNDS

Early it is before the sun rises, when in the darkness lies quiet,

The singing of birds can be heard from many directions.

A breeze within the morning can be listened to softly,

In the distance the sound of a car, sirens screaming.

Squirrels on top of the roof running, their sounds in the tree,

Squawking scrubjay resting on the wire, waiting for peanuts.

Coffee brewing in the pot, the sound of an alarm clock,

Warm shower water and some music on the radio.

Wake to the morning sounds, listen closely to that which is around.

VOICES

VOICES

Around us we hear those whom speak,

Words and phrases to others whom will hear.

So many different tones from mouths each day,

Softly spoken or In a deep mean way.

Talking a lot Is a way for some,

Fast and unclear Is another way too.

We hear many voices as we spend our day,

Talking about their lives and crying about their pain.

Voices are heard singing songs,

Which makes us happy and bring our emotions outside.

On the phone there are voices, to us spoken words,

We can’t even see them but still they are heard.

Without voices we will not be heard,

If we are not heard then there Is silence.

VIEW FROM A CLIFF

VIEW FROM A CLIFF

Alone, high above the wandering ocean is where I spend my day,

Wind can not be seen but it makes a sound, feel It all around.

Thinking Is a constant thing that I do, Free under a clear sky I can breathe,

The sun shines high In the sky, somewhere beyond, heaven watches down.

For miles and endless miles from so up high I can see forever the ocean wide,

There are birds and seagulls soaring across the sky, I stand here wondering about life.

Where I am Is oh! so high but what Is high, to reach above and touch the stars,

Waves crashing against the rocks with a powerful force, such an awesome sound.

Above the world It seems as this view from a cliff Is a most amazing sight,

With the dark of night approaching, I say goodbye to a beautiful place.

VERY NICE TO HAVE KNOWN YOU

VERY NICE TO HAVE KNOWN YOU

You’ve been my friend it seems from the beginning of time,

Where have the years gone since once we would laugh and run.

To the beach we traveled playing in the sand, waves at our feet,

Skateboards and Ice cream cones at a place we would meet.

Riding our bikes and messing around in the fields,

Basketball and flying kites, comic books under a tree.

We went to school and walked home together,

Swam in lakes, camped out under the stars.

Secrets we told that only we could know,

Friends from a long time ago, today we walk a little slow.

Very nice to have known you as today we still move along,

We sit here on this bench with memories of youth long ago.

UNTIL I FIND YOU

UNTIL I FIND YOU

My sight is on you, there is nothing you can possibly do,

After the things you have done, I will surely find you.

You stay in one place but you run, you drew first blood,

Until I find you I will not stop, little sleep, searching for peace.

You’ve done me wrong, If I could then I’d sing it in a song,

If it takes walking through the night, that will be alright.

For that which you have done, run heartless one, run,

I should let you go but the anger has attacked my soul.

Until I find you watch your back, I’m on the hunt, never looking back.
