RIDE OFF INTO THE SUNSET

RIDE OFF INTO THE SUNSET

Going out In style, everyone has their moment, their time to shine,

Running and dancing, climbing hills, riding skateboards In our youth.

Not to say that one can’t live or enjoy all these things In our later lives,

No matter the exercise or the love of that which we do we will slow down.

The basketball star moves with energy and vitality along the open floor,

He passes the torch and says goodbye and moves on to a different day.

He throws the football to the cheers of the fan, for many years a star,

He sets the ball upon the ground then walks from the stadium to a hall of fame.

Swing the bat, a baseball hero plays for many seasons of Springs and Summer days,
When the cheers are no more his bat Is headed for a place called Cooper’s town U. S. A.

Nothing Is less or more Important for one person than It Is for another, we all see the setting sun,

For whatever we do the day will come when we all will ride off Into the sunset, we lived.

PAPER AIRPLANES

PAPER AIRPLANES

Watch them fly, as a child, magic in flight,

Different sizes, many paper shapes.

When just a boy, when magic seemed so real,

In my desk there were stacks of paper airplanes,

Colored and ready for takeoff, imagination of a child.

They soared in the sky on a breezy, sun filled day,

I remember those times when I would run and play.

Up on a hill, standing there looking down,

My airplanes of paper ready to sail up high.

Paper airplanes in my time of youth,

I can almost feel it again, I can see it now.

OVER THE RAINBOW

OVER THE RAINBOW

Where dreams await those whom wish,

Fantasies come to life, a heart does not ache.

The magic of possibilities are a reach away,

Hurtful things have not a place to play.

Where beautiful things can’ not be destroyed,

Birds of blue fly, they sing in the sky.

Nothing to make you cry beyond a rainbow up so high,

All the trees are filled with a fruit so sweet.

Over the rainbow where all things imagined may come true,

Thoughts of love and hope are clearly understood but heard of once before.

Might there be such a place where these things can come true.?

THIS IS MY LAND

THIS IS MY LAND

Generations have passed, presidents as well as times have changed,

Hundreds of years It has been that my family has worked this land.

From the days of the revolutionary war when my great, great, grandfather

Fought alongside many family, friends, and neighbors to be free.

Again In eighteen twelve my great grand father went to war for freedom,

My grandfather all the way down the line fought for the land we claimed and own.

The Civil War and every other war created for money or to take ownership of what Is wanted,

My family not only took part to defend this country and fight within It but we also fought

For what was and remains In our family, this Is my land and no person of power or not

Will ever approach and take with force this land without a fight, without gun In hand.

THINKING OF MAN

THINKING OF MAN

Wow!, think about it, everyone has changed just as the times have changed,

Way back in time when food had to be hunted for daily, appreciation for a bite.

Today fast food on every corner that is slowly killing all around the world,

When we don’t finish our plates then we simply toss it away, down the drain.

There was a time when a man could drink from a lake or stream, refreshing,

Today without an intelligent thought it is perhaps for a dollar polluted water.

Way back in the west, many places in fact, a body could rest their weary head

Under a tree, make camp and sleep, hunt, have some peace without a stare,

We come to the future where a person is now labeled homeless, we stare.

Loitering and vagrancy are the words used, no sleeping, hard to survive,

Move along it will be said to the one who dares to be free and live in peace.

It’s come to where neighbors fighting and the sounds of sirens are the way,

Nature is screamed at, a burden to many as they make their beautiful sounds in the day.

Trash in the streets but that’s okay, another will clean it if they come this way,

Thinking of man, this way of the future, we now pay a price for water, air, and even dirt.

THESE THINGS I DREAM

THESE THINGS I DREAM

Within myself thinking of a place in another reality,

What lies around me may be a different consciousness.

This state of mind as I am not awake, floating, floating,

I see a world like never have I imagined before, I see.

Visions sent to my brain, pictures of stories past or future,

These things I dream, a mystery from an eternity.

RISE UP!

RISE UP!

Anywhere and everywhere the enemy hides throughout the world,

They are not counted as their number is growing in silence.

They are of sick minds as they plot, attack, and steal lives from family,

Their belief that they are heaven bound for killing is a false belief, a fantasy.

Terrorism of any kind deserves a train ride to hell as it has no color,

Something has been so wrong in this world since the dawn of man.

Rise up!, together we need to stand on our feet, join hands around the world,

It is a really scary thing but we are all in trouble, dangerous times are here.

A story not so pretty, the sun still shines on our everyday but we must see it all,

In between the beauty and our everyday dreams remains echoes of a worlds screams.

Never can we allow ourselves to be fooled by that which we read or the big speech,

Rise up all people and question the lies that are told and don’t be easily deceived.

THEIR SHOPPING FACES

THEIR SHOPPING FACES

Approach do i that familiar place where food is much needed,

Headphones ready as i enter that always different shopping experience.

Sometimes i feel calm as i wander on my mission to succeed and leave,

A gathering of people, all going their own way, searching for tonights supper.

Amazing it is the minds of those whom can figure it out and others so lost,

On their cell phones standing in the middle of isles without a clue, simply rude.

Excuse me i say as i move their cart for them, they stare and look away,

I watch their faces, not all are this way but many seem either angry or don’t care.

Here we go, the best part of the adventure is when we reach the line, wondering,

Which one to get in, I see the many expressions of frustration and in a rush.

The problem is when it’s their turn then they are never ready, talking on the phone,

Amazing as they can’t find their money, forgot how to use a card, to write a check.

These things as i listen to my music praying for a miracle that will save me from this,

The next time you go to the store take a look around, so much to laugh at, their shopping faces.

THE BULLY

THE BULLY

He has a name, lives does he in a neighborhood, maybe yours,

You have met him before, perhaps a lifetime ago in school, he still lives.

He knows of many people and he’ll meet many more, not a friend is he,

I saw him once before, not in a dream but in my childhood reality.

More than one time did I meet him, he thought he was special as

He followed me through my younger days or waited for me to get to school.

He never goes away fore he is the cowardly bully whom waits everyday,

Always seeking out the weak, scared, and usually the peaceful one.

The bully torments until his weakness and cowardly ways are found out,

Although he will lose his power, again he is born with another face.

I still to this day see the bully and he has many faces of ugliness,

He can no longer touch me, He knows I’m not afraid.

The bully goes to far and each day he disappears.

TEACH ME TO LEARN

TEACH ME TO LEARN

At times the words are heard inside, the sentences scrambled,

Easy to say yes! I understand, Harder to know the meaning of what’s said.

We cannot do the work, if we are not shown how to perform,

If we do not get the picture then we do not comprehend.

Teach me to learn so that I may understand and a lesson is mine,

From a thought to a word, a sentence is formed, I do hear.

Practice with my ears and mind to overcome an obstacle,

A disability to conquer, teach me to learn, I will understand.
