There’s a sound, stare into the darkness,
Footsteps are there, listen to the crunching of leaves.
What’s in the dark,? can you see that it’s real,
Does it watch you as you try to see, can it smell your fear.?
From the darkness it moves closer but much to dark,
Out of the darkness it is you who cannot step.
Feel it as you know it is there, you know that it stares,
Your eyes are open but only for you, darkness is everywhere.
What is it that haunts the one whom lives in the dark,?
Could it be all the sounds that you do not see.
From the darkness you cannot wander,
From the darkness you cannot be.

FROM THE BEGINNING
I lived in a time of monsters, great beasts that ruled the land,
There were no words that I spoke, I was a primal man.
I learned to hunt, to eat that which was fought for,
Fearful of the giants that would hunt and eat me.
I learned of fire to keep warm, too cook,Animal skins for clothing to cover my naked skin.
So long ago that it does not seem possible,
Might I have been the first man to walk this land.
I had no name, not even sure of what I was,
The fight for survival, life was quite short.
From the beginning each day had great length,
Tools and weapons of the time were created to see the next daylight.
I was a man whom once walked the land,
The things that I learned are now in your hands.

with speed like the wind, to the sky it soars, So massive this beast, listen for the sound as it roars. Legend or myth, this monster of fire, Just the sight of it is hard not to admire. Of long ago…

FROM THE BALCONY
I see the trees standing in the sky,
The cars go by as I watch from high.
Walking people going here and there,
Sometimes I wonder if they’re happy or in pain.
Do I really care when from the balcony I stare,
Without a name, to me they are not there.
The wind I feel as I am looking everywhere,
The sky is hazy, a quiet moment is where I am.
From inside I watch through the window,
The balcony is there, quietly I don’t really care what is out there.

YOU WERE MOM
I can’t quite remember when I first opened my eyes,
From that moment you were always by my side, mother of mine.
You held me when I was hungry, fed me as I drifted back to sleep,
Made me feel secure, washed me and made sure I was always clean.
When I woke from a scary dream it was you who took away my fearful screams,
You were there when I was down, near and always around, you were mom.
You taught me about the things that I should know, about the world as I would grow,
You were a friend, companion, but most of all, you were my mother, you were mom.
Memories I will never forget, I would trade them all for one more day, you went away,
I will see you again in a different kind of land, you were mom, thanks for all that you were.

PIER TO PIER
Set out early do I before the light, before the sunrise,
Hear the waves crashing near the shore as I begin my stroll.
Scent of the ocean spray wakens me as I start out across the sand,
Seaweed I see washed upon the shore, my bare feet are planted in the wet earth.
My trek across the ancient sand takes me from pier to pier with the wind in my hair,
Walking between the dry and wet sand, my thoughts are scattered everywhere.
Feeling free with the sun beginning to rise, I can now look out and see the ocean,
As the sun rises more and darkness goes to sleep, the water seems to shimmer and sparkle.
As I step upon the warming sand, walking along from pier to pier, seagulls are gathering,
I am mostly alone in the early morning, faces of few pass me by with a quiet hello.
The wind, sky, ocean, are beautiful today, the sun shines down on me, how can life be not great,
I would remain here in this place forever, all around is nothing but the creators treasure.

FROM OUT OF THE DARKNESS
Hiding, pretending this wasn’t real, dreaming of what might be,
Slipping into a world of fantasy and seclusion, I’m finding my way back.
It was no miracle, a lot of emotional pain and suffering, was it my doing?
Well! I suppose I didn’t allow myself to be strong enough to overcome.
Most of the time my window was my only opening to the outside world,
The curtains closed when there was nothing that I wanted to see.
From out of the darkness to arise did I, stepping outside to live again,
Seeing the sun, looking at the surroundings I was running from.
