I WENT TO SLEEP LAST NIGHT

I WENT TO SLEEP LAST NIGHT

Lay there do I watching, this screen of moving pictures with sound,

Slowly as I am thinking, closing my eyes and just listening to words.

That which I was listening too becomes a mixture of now forming visions,

I went to sleep last night and disappeared into a world of imagination.

I could fly, jump into the air and stay there, no day or night in sight,

Unusual adventures were before my mind, no sense of any kind.

Why am I afraid of what appears in the night, made up pictures tonight,

I went to sleep last night and found myself walking through fields of delight.

We walk into a dream to escape our daily scenes, things become confusing,

Fore where does the dream begin and the nightmare end.

I WASN’T SUPPOSED TO COME HOME

I WASN’T SUPPOSE TO COME HOME

Went away that day, awhile ago as I’m not sure in time,

Was I lost or did I just seem lost inside, hiding from what?

At this point not sure of what I’m trying to say, my thoughts,

I was sent here to join in on something that should not be real.

It takes a part of you away, destroys deep inside, that’s where I hide,

I wasn’t suppose to come home, I feel guilty and all alone.

Why was I sent away, they did not come back with me that terrible day,

I should be with them by their sides, I can cry but why am I here alive?

I wasn’t suppose to come home, I am alive! they all died.

I WALK THE MILES

I WALK THE MILES

I travel my days throughout the land,

Each step that i take stronger i am.

My path is planned as i walk the streets,

Known am i for the journey I keep.

My pace is fast, my eyes always see,

What’s around can not touch me.

My head held high with somewhere to be,

The faces I see always see me.

My legs take me far and where I need to be,

I keep them moving so nobody will catch me.

I walk the miles, they never stop,

So many miles I’ve walked in my time.

I REMEMBER YOU

“I REMEMBER YOU”

In places I once knew, i remember, remember all of you,

From places I lived once as a child, a place in the snow for a while.

Travels that took me to all of you, childhood friends oh! how i miss you,

Where are you now, scattered with time all over this always mysterious world.

Places of memories, Yorba Linda was very special to me as a boy, full of friends,

I remember all of you from each school, each day we gathered, where are you now.?

Hanging out at Winchell’s, in the park up the road, on a friday night a trip to Naugles,

Skate factory, skateway, girls and boys met for the night, now are men and women.

To Thrifty’s for an Ice cream cone, a triple scoop for fifteen cents, what’s your favorite flavor,

A pinball machine was a favorite of mine, a quarter gave a gift of three games.

Walking to school, basketball at Bernardo Yorba on a Saturday afternoon, remember,?

The friends, the things we did, places to go, I remember you and pinball Wizard too,

So many streets, friends in houses no longer seen, I remember you from a lifetime ago.

Placentia Is a place of many memories for me as I had just moved from Yorba, a goodbye,

Nineteen seventy seven, Summer had just begun, A new place, friends to meet here.

Parties, skating, warm nights sitting outside laughing with new friends on the block,

Tri-city park walking a path around the lake, Yum, Yum donuts where everyone would meet.

Camelot where all people would go, friends and fun many years ago, where did you go,?

Bus rides and car drives off to the beach, In the waves we swam, laying out in the sand,

I saw you all as teens in what seems like a dream, we’re older now, I remember you always.

I OPENED MY EYES TODAY

I OPENED MY EYES TODAY

Morning came, the light did shine through an open window,

I am again alive! scattered clouds drift by and say goodbye.

The birds do fly, singing songs on their way through the sky,

Trees sway within the breezy day, branches of color along the way,

I see the world, I opened my eyes today.

I MISSED THE GIFT

I MISSED THE GIFT

I was born, I was alive in a new world to me,

I thought that I had not much as I grew, I did not see.

Always asking why me or why don’t I have more,

I survived a terrible thing in this life, I am alive!

My life has been given to me, a gift extended beyond that day,

So much more than some as I believed I had nothing, ungrateful perhaps.

I missed the gift, It took many years and roads traveled to see,

So much has been given to me, I understand more as I have watched

Many times the sun rise and set, It is a gift to live and breathe.

I KNOW YOU ARE SOMEWHERE

I KNOW YOU ARE SOMEWHERE

I know you are there Art, I wonder where you are, how are you?

Are you alright? Do you understand what has happened? are you near or far?

It seems you have gone away, was the sun shining? what were your thoughts of this day?

I remember when once we met on a sunny Yorba Linda day, you were young, life was okay,

Those were the days of innocence, we were safe to what was coming our way, chances we take.

A smile you had always on your face, from day to day you aged as we all did, today you went away,

I know you are somewhere, I can feel it as I imagine you traveling to a far off unimaginable place.

You were here, could it be that you are still around, I thought I heard you laugh, remembering the sound,

You left your mark, a reason heaven needed you now, I saw you yesterday Art, It seems so long ago.

Many friends were yours, I think at times you didn’t understand, you were born on a day, with god you now stand,

I’ll always remember and think of you dear friend when I recall those never ending Summer days so long ago.

JUST ANOTHER DAY

JUST ANOTHER DAY

The sun comes up, taking the darkness away,

Sounds from trees, birds are awake for this day.

Whether it be clouds or rain, a walk down a street,

Just another day but never the same way.

Life and the beauty with it is seen for only so many hours a day,

Take it not for granted as the gift of sight is not promised always,

Just another day or something new comes our way.

I HEARD MY MAMA’ CRY

I HEARD MY MAMA’ CRY

When the morning rose which seems like a lifetime ago,

I was quite young, she had tears in her eyes,

Running down her face, why did you cry?

A child may see but blind to the reality,

All around, secretly something is happening.

I heard my mama’ cry, not knowing really why,

Day or night as I was a child, between her smiles.

I HAVE WALKED A LONG ROAD

I HAVE WALKED A LONG ROAD

Jesus on one side and the devil on the other, they follow always,

I have walked a long road with a little sin, some kindness, and regret.

They are not seen with eyes of sight but you can feel them both testing,

I have walked the center of this road for much of my time, I see both sides.

The devil smiled whenever I did wrong, on the other side i saw jesus cry,

When no remorse was seen in my heart, the devil laughed, jesus never left.

My eyes could see the darkness as the devil walked on my left side wanting,

Turning to my right Jesus and his light never has given up on me, I still walk.

No longer do I walk the center of that long road as closer to the right I feel,

I reach for his hand but still fingertips away, the devil stands strong but I am stronger.

For all that I have done wrong I do live with but I ask forgiveness to those and to him,

As they both walk the road I walk where the light shines upon my soul.
