SHE LIVED IN THE WOODS

Hidden from sunlight, beneath the tall ageing trees,

Deep in the woods, alone lived she.

A different kind of world, quiet except for the creatures that be,

A woman so aged, seems that she’d been here for eternity.

So far below that which grows, the falling rain can barely touch,

In a rickety old cabin, she had not much.

Only sounds of the woods kept her company,

In a dark, lost, existence, she lived to be so old, not of loneliness.

Many things did she to occupy her moments of a life meant to be,

Never a face shown to her, only memories of childhood dreams.

She lived in the woods, somewhere you see,

An old, old, woman gone and not missed, but who was she.?

SHADOW ON A CURB

A boy I remember once sat on a curb,
On a warm, sunny, day over forty years ago I say.
Listening to the airplanes going by, fly so high,

Hands rested on his face, a street and a place far away.
He would stare from where he sat, a thinking child,
I remember him well when he lost that smile.
A car that no longer moved, the life in it lost,
Now the memory of a man whom sat at the wheel.
A place and a street that exists till this day,
A curb where once a boy no more dreamed and played.
What has faded now is a man and a car,
A boy whose aged more than a father whom at one time
Carried him on his shoulders.

Now from the trees, only a shadow on a curb you’ll see,
A memory of a boy whom sat and stared at a car driven
by a father whom he can no longer see.

A WAND OF MAGIC

In hand, a wand would make me a magic man,

Not even a word and crime would disappear.

I could stop time, rid the world of trash or pollution,

Take away the sick waters of rivers and oceans.

Murder on our land would be stopped with a hand,

The ill would be no more, cancer but a memory.

I could run fast or jump high,

A tear would be one less for all of mankind.

The cruel slaughter of creatures in the world,

With a wave from my hand, this would end.

A wand of magic need not be that of evil,

For love and good, the hand that holds this wand.

A wand of magic is not to be real,

We can wish, hope, and pray, that it all goes away.

IN THE DARK OF NIGHT

As the moon rises, darkness falls,

A full moon so bright, what’s out there in the night.

They awake, life that wanders after daylight,

In the hills, among the trees, they can see.

The wolf howls, its shadow rests in the moonlight,

Hunger in its thoughts, searches in the dark.

An owl can fly, it sits in a tree,

Keeps watch from up high, everywhere nature is alive.

The coyote marches on, preying on what is not strong,

There’s a battle for survival, this circle of life.

In the dark of night, they work until dawns early light,

That which hunts, the strong will survive, in the dark of night.

I AM HERE

I am here, always i am here though you do not see,

With you i stay, accompany you each and everyday.

You go nowhere without me, we are one,

I feel as you feel, i am here.

I am here when the day is done,

I am with you with the rising sun.

Your pain or sorrow, laughter or happiness,

It is shared between us, one day we will part.

I can not be seen, within you i dwell,

I am who you are, mind, spirit, and soul.

I’LL LEAVE THE LIGHT ON

I remember the day when you went away,

Your bags packed, you’ve grown so fast, on your way.

A choice has been made, i’ll stand by your side,

What you believe in your heart is the way you must fight.

Far away the war has not stopped,

I’ll leave the light on until you come home.

I’ve written these letters for fifty years now,

Missing in action is what was said to me about you.

You’re still my love, what has become of you,?

My life is less as you have not come back.

I’ve held on to hope, a prayer every night,

After fifty years the reality of not seeing you hides from my mind.

I’ll leave the light on as i have since the day you drove away,

I’ll leave the light on until my last day.

CONVERSATION WITH A FRIEND

Where have you been,? i’ve been searching for so long,

I tried to call you on the phone but you were no longer home.

I went to the places where we use to be,

Just standing there in the wind, memory’s of a friend.

I grew up just as you did, life changed and i went away,

There were many things for me to see, living my dreams.

I meant to call but as time went by, out of sight, out of mind,

A woman came into my life, my past was left behind.

So tell me friend what have you been doing,?

I stayed behind, watching the world go by,

Children of three and a wife no more to be.

Worked to survive, became older did i,

A roller coaster ride, i’ve had in my time.

I’m glad we found one another, i’ll soon be coming home,

I went away but i’ll be coming back that way.

We’ll stand together one more time,

Somewhat older as you are you and i am me.

FAVORS IN THREES

How is it possible to change the world,

Can one man get it started, where to begin.?

Do a favor of unselfishness and ask that in return

This person do three favors,

Two more favors of you must be accomplished to start.

It is that someone first did a kindness for you,

They then asked of you to do these three things.

Favors of three may be quite a sacrifice indeed,

A price this may be that you pay in many a way.

A person, just one to take a chance is possible,

If each that has been given this gift does in return

Pass it on then it will never stop.

The world would be as one family, in other words,

A PERFECT WORLD.

OLD FRIENDS

As children they played, growing up in the same town,

Running in the park, playing games in the dark.

Going to school, swimming in the same backyard pool,

Singing songs, listening to music they both loved.

Sleepovers, laughing late into the night,

Going to movies, Friday and Saturday nights.

They rode their bikes to many sights,

A coke and a comic book were a delight.

Throwing a football, baseball in the park,

Being kids was what life was about.

Hanging out together in a time of youth,

Those days are gone but never forgotten.

These things i say are true to all that once played,

Through generations and lifetimes,

Here’s to old friends never forgotten.

ENTER HIS KINGDOM

Some have said that everyone is born with a sentence of death,

Life after, to live in eternity is said to be of the greatest peace.

There is a purpose for our lives here on this earth,

Lessons to understand, too feel and experience all emotions.

The greatest joy and gift that one may receive can only be a dream

As we live and breathe here in this world,

The thought of death, too die appears as something so horrible.

Life is a precious mystery that we all are given by god,

We are blessed with the chance and knowing that one day

When our time is here done that we will enter his kingdom.

Sin will be no more, pain, suffering, and hatred will die,

Everlasting love and beauty will be ours,

Enter his kingdom and live forever.
