I’VE BEEN THINKING

I thought i’d call to you and talk awhile,

I’m sitting here alone, I’ve been thinking.

What can i do to make this world a better place,

Let go of anger and sometimes terrible thoughts.

Do not waste this time that I’ve been given,

Smile and say hello to a passerby.

Lend a hand to a less fortunate soul,

Put a little trust in man, this I’ve been told.

Do not take a life, be there for a friend,

Teach a child right from wrong.

Love as much as you can, hate is not a gift in hand,

Do not steal or act in violence,

I’ve been thinking god, I just needed you to listen.

  1. Nice poem. Thanks for following my blog. I read on your Gravitator profile that you know a lot about plants, and like Springsteen. I am an avid gardener, who has learned as I planted, and my husband’s favorite singer is Springsteen (I also love him.) Seems we have things in common.

  5. Absolutely, if I find a new blog–or it finds me–from a “man of many thoughts” the very first post I must read is the one called “I’ve been thinking.” Thanks for stopping by my blog–and for sharing yours! I’m enjoying it.

  6. Wise words. Love and compassion go a long way toward making our world a better place. Thanks for visiting my blog. I’m new at this blogging business and am enjoying the opportunity to connect with so many amazing people. Blessings.

  7. As William Wordsworth wrote:
“The best portion of a good man’s life: his little, nameless unremembered acts of kindness and love.”

Thanks for signing up to my blog Actonbooks.com.
It’s mostly about the small stuff of history that might also be called ‘little nameless acts’. Occasionally I go off piste into politics and such, but that doesn’t make me a bad person.
