Dusk approaches, there’s a quiet silence,
A calming feel at the days end.
Does silence make a sound, ?
A crickets soft chirp noticed.
A breeze moving gently through the trees,
A plane that fly’s so high beneath the stars.
The tone of a whisper spoken in her ear,
In the far off distance the bark of a dog is heard.
Ones own heartbeat echoes inside,
A mosquito in the evening, the sound goes by.
The sleeping child breathing in the night,
An owl in a tree, quiet as can be.
Does silence make a sound,? listen as it’s found.
Keith Garrett

Thanks for reading
Silence. One hears more in it if one just listens.
Great piece.
Fascinating question!
It’s the loudest thing I know!

MORE THAN JUST AIR ATOMS BOUNCING OFF YOUR EARDRUMS!!!!
I have tinnitus…it is worse when everything else is quite. To me, silence makes a sound.
I love the way you write down your poems. It brings me so much emotion and feelings. On the poem: After reading it I thought about some quote I saw somewhere: “If a tree falls in the forest, and nobody is there, does it make a sound?”
Lovely!
Thanks always
