On ships they sail for destinations of turmoil,
Fly across the sky, planes, jets, and helicopters.
Young men of plenty, they strap on their gear,
Armed for battle, a weapon in their hands,
Men of war in a far off land.
Some will die, wounded, they will come home,
Scars on their flesh, pain stricken minds.
That which they see is a haunting thought,
Remember forever whether they believe in it or not.
Storm the beaches, run through the jungles,
Across the desert they fight for survival.
Men of war, bring them back home,
End all the fighting, Isn’t it about time.

You have been there?
I have known some men and i can Imagine it. Not the way the saw it, how horrible it must have been.

I like this Keith!
On the Scales side of my family (my father’s), I have a ton of family in the military. My grandfather was in military, my father still is, as is his 4 or 5 siblings (even his sister), and most of my cousins (male and female, and I have more than a couple) on that side of the family who are old enough to be.
It would definitely be great for them all to be out of harm’s way. I am especially sensitive to their safety as they are family. Everyone in the military for the most part, has family that largely wants them to be safe too. It would be awesome if all sides would lay down their arms.
I take comfort knowing that someday God will forever quell the flames of war. I know in the meantime though, as has been happening all over the world without end for thousands of years, there are always going to be wars going on somewhere around the world, eating up human life.
Whether or not the US is involved, parent’s kids are going to be growing up and going to war somewhere, and some of them aren’t even going to get to grow up before they go to war. I tend to not keep up with news about the wars going on around the world, because it doesn’t really seem like anything new to me. Different names, different methods, same places, same old story for the most part.
I do sometimes pray for peace, and for lives to be spared because of my prayers though. The loss of human life really upsets me, and bullies really make me angry, and paying too much attention to stuff about wars, tends to make me speak very bitterly and cynically. I want to be an idealist, but being that in this fallen world will often lead to incredibly overwhelming disappointment. That’s been my experience when I give too much of my heart and time to idealistic thoughts.
