WHEN I WRITE

Close your eyes and see If a picture comes to mind,

A thought about something seen out in the world.

Could It be possibly a scent In the air that holds a memory,

Tasting a favorite food that reminds one of a place in time.

When I write there are many possibilities that come to life,

I might just close my eyes for a moment and breathe.

A title appears In my mind, words from feelings arrive,

Inspiration comes from different things that are explored.

When I write day or night the world belongs to me,

Whatever I write when I write Is share for you to read.

  1. HI Keith – I was looking for a subtle place to put this message but you don’t have an ‘about’ page! just messaging to make you aware of my competition, I really value everyone who decided to follow my blog (there may be one or two I fear who just spilt coffee on themselves and accidentally clicked the button.. but I’m still taking it as a win). I need help deciding which poems to perform in the next month or two and I’d really value your opinion.

  2. Thank you for noticing my blog. I went to college in California and lived there 11 years, and then I lived in Salem MA for 17 years – so we have more in common than liking to write poetry.

    • Dear Dorinda,

Never compare what comes through your spirit with that of any other being. You have your own journey, your own path – never walked by anyone else on this earth. You never know how deeply your expression (of any kind) touches the soul of others.

      I honor your unique journey.

      Noel

  3. Thanks for liking the post of today on Neil McKenty blog. I would love for you to make a comment on writing. If you look at the blog you could see that on the tuesday we have, what we call a Conversation on writing. Your comment and maybe a poem will be much appreciate.

  4. Hello Keith

thanks for liking our post on Gert Loveday – Fun with Books today and for following us. We hope you’ll have a lot of fun. I like your calm, unfussy line form, in which it’s possible to say deep things in a deceptively simple way. Will be back to read more

  5. Your poem is enchanting. I feel the same way when I write my prose. I can make anything happen to my characters and not worry about it. It’s my own precious little world. Thank you for following itsmindbloggleing.

  6. Keith, How lovely. Each of us forms a human chorus of expression through the instrument of our unique souls. Like you I don’t work for inspiration, it comes as a phrase I hear spoken or in my head and then the poem just “writes itself” from the title or the theme.

Thank you also for liking Facing Hopelessness on my blog.

    All my best,
    Noel

  7. Lovely words, Keith. Inspiration seems to come from a point beyond, and it is such a gift. Thanks for the like on my blog as well, much appreciated. Best wishes on your writing journey x

  8. I find it so true that poems are a gift that come to us when we are listening and then flow into the page. Such a wonderful way to share our little inspirations with others! Keep it up and thanks for following “Just East of Crazy Land!”
    Cheers,
    Anna

  9. I am rite there with you my friend, there is a certain kind of magic when I write or do my art,the whole is at my finger tips just waiting to come out. Thank you for your like
    As always Sheldon

  10. Words have power and some of what I have read, and the beautiful titles I see below this comment box, “Breathe for Me” and “When Sleep Does Not Visit” shows me you know that power. Thank you for sharing your writing!

  11. You have put into words what I’ve thought many times. I reckon it’s probably a common phenomenon amongst writers though, isn’t it?
