THE ADVENTURE OF LIFE

It holds many doors, different roads to choose from,

Chances are taken as we turn the page.

Life is an adventure, different chapters are written,

Only can it be wasted if we stand still to long,

Moving into the future , playing a different game.

We must read from different books,

Experience different tastes of another type of food.

We leave behind people and things, sometimes we must let go,

Carrying into the future our memories or lessons learned.

Sometimes it’s difficult to miss but we learn to adjust,

Changes upon changes as the wheel keeps turning.

The circle of life is never ending, nothing may stay the same,

The adventure of life is a most wonderful but hard game to play.

INVISIBLE MOMENTS

Not to be seen noticed among the crowded streets,

To walk a chosen road, dreaming and not seen.

Just a little time to be left alone, on my own,

Not a sound i’ll make or attention i’ll create.

Invisible moments, there will be no picture or scene,

No description of a man, all around me will be.

At times not to be before these eyes anything,

Not an unwanted sound, nothing all around.

The soul needs moments of peace, a slower pace,

Escape from the fast pace of the human race.

Invisible moments, quiet times under a forgotten tree,

In am empty field of grass, i’m not known to be.

BEACHES AND OCEANS

To love the beach, walking along the sand so warm,

Looking ahead of me at the pier in the distance.

The feel of the wind as i’m walking the wet sandy shore,

The sun shining in the sky, seagulls flying in search for food.

My thoughts are of many things as i dream of life’s pleasures,

At peace am i strolling along listening, always listening.

The waves are a beautiful sight, musical tunes crashing upon the shore,

The horizon seems like forever as i stare in silence at its mystery.

Shadows from clouds darken the ocean but only a touch,

The wonders of life that live beneath the waters are seen from within.

Beaches and oceans have been forever,

There’s a great love for me as they go on together.

FROM THE MIRROR

What do you see when you peek at me, for a lifetime you’ve seen,

I await as each time you appear, we grow older together with the years.

You stare and dream as thoughts from your mind are the same in me,

The morning awakes you, come see the mirror,do you see, do you see.

You’ve studied me closely, at times wondering who i am, understand,

I am the same as you, a man searching within himself, always searching.

From the mirror you gaze into these eyes, are you so surprised.

Do you think i do not know whom it is you really are, i know you,

There are those moments i wish not to see you, not hear you.

Not think at all or too feel the same pain that haunts you,

From the mirror thoughts of a man, a piece of one man.

MY SISTER

Do you remember me as i remember you,

In a small town of Summer and snow.

We were just children of dreams and games,

We were not twins but just the same.

Traveled far to be where we are,

Memories don’t die of a place we were born.

I am me and you are you, brother i am,

My sister are you, a long way from home.

Do you recall when a roof top fall was a scary moment, why i laughed, why,

White blonde hair on such a little girl,

You made me sad, you made me mad.

We had to be close as we grew,

Something to hide us from the thoughts we knew.

Reality seemed like a dream as our lives would change with a scream,

My sister with a name, Kathy it be,

At times we’ve drifted so far it seems.

Anger or fight has wasted the hour glass sand,

    Together again we’ll stand.

My sister, my sister, forgive and forget,

Let the past rest fore you dear sister are the best.

Remember a season when once we were young,

Today a touch older, still we are young.

Think of me as i’ll think of you, when we go away,

Again we’ll meet before the angels and he.

                            My sister Kathy,

A ROAD TRAVELED

When i awoke to a morning, not yesterday,

Young was i as my first foot steps were learned.

Walked did i into each different day,

The more i traveled, the more i changed.

I learned of words, i saw many things,

The sun i saw rise but now it’s overhead.

The leaves i saw were shaken from the trees,

As the world turned, again the leaves were to be.

Once a young boy played in the snow,

The more he walked, the less the snow would fall.

Sometimes he would see but things could not be seen,

A road traveled so fast, a blind man was he.

He walked very far, a life on his feet,

He’s on his way back, almost home, older than he use to be.

PRAYER FOR A POET

Written words,thoughts from inside,

I speak so differently than my pen that writes.

Not as happy as I’d like, pray this for me,

Lord in the sky, spirit up so high,

Lift the anger that hurts my soul.

Take away this haunting fear that rests in my mind,

Give me strength, the hope and desire to live on.

I die inside so slowly though my body may be strong,

Let me feel peace like quiet in the night,

Let me feel love as I am the saddened one.

Prayer for a poet, I speak these words to you dear God,

Stand by me when I am weak,

Let me rest in your arms.

THREE ROADS TAKEN

The forest, the hills, and the desert traveled,

These three, these men of faith will be challenged.

Where do i go, alone will i know, asks the first seeker,

I’ll take the first road, i’ll find my way to the forest.

The way home for me will be found, we’ll meet in a place,

The forest will show me many things, a search so beautiful.

It’s time for me to go, my road has been chosen,

I’ll make my way into the hills, these words spoken.

We will come together once more, somewhere in time,

Travel i will into the quiet hills of discovery, a road taken.

Fore the third wandering man will journey across the desert,

A road meant for only he, unbelievable scenes to his eyes.

The desert will teach this alone man lessons of the heart,

His way home will be hard fought, they will find the same road.

Three roads taken, three men walk a path alone,

In the end they will stand together in the hills, the forest,

And in the desert, these men of three will never find again

This home but all will be as one, they will find their way home.

RUST FROM TIME

Sometimes to recall childhood days are lost with what life takes away,

A bicycle of color sits for years until its age is seen through cobwebs so clear.

A shed or a box of stored away and at times forgotten treasures are again a thought,

Going back to a place where once we stood on sidewalks of ghosts, friends we knew.

Trees grow taller, houses rest where inside we once knew those with faces and names,

Hills where we wandered have disappeared with this changing world.

Nothing seems to stay the same, faces fade, children we knew all go away,

There are those times when i can just stand there and somewhere in the wind,

When the night is quiet, there’s a fragrance in the air, that feeling of that yesterday.

Like a cloud or veil as the seasons change and we all go our separate ways,

Thoughts change, some memory’s drift with passing winds.

Rust from time, if so blessed then may we all play the memories

In our minds for just a little while longer.

I STAND BEFORE YOU

It is i lord, a man with many questions, do you hear me,?

I want to see you fore i do not know your face, do you see mine.?

My voice echoes with sound, i speak from my mortal lips,

Your words are known to the world, i can surely hear you.

When i cry are my tears held by you with love and compassion,?

Is the rain that falls from the sky merely sorrow from those whom died.?

If the bad, the evil choose to show what’s in them no good,

Do the good of heart possess in them the same temptation for sin.?

Love is a thought, a feeling of warmth that touches ones soul,

Why is it painful, why does it grow old, please tell me O’lord.?

I stand before you just a poor man with a kind, wanting, heart,

I ask you to guide me through a pain that does haunt.

Sit with me lord and rock me to sleep, nightmares to dreams,

Take from me this fear that angers my peace.
