OLD FRIENDS

As children they played, growing up in the same town,

Running in the park, playing games in the dark.

Going to school, swimming in the same back yard pool,

Singing song’s, listening to music they both loved.

Sleepovers, laughing late into the night,

Going to movies, Friday and Saturday nights.

They rode their bikes to many sights,

A coke and a comic book were a delight.

Throwing a football, baseball in the park,

Being kids was what life was about.

Hanging out together in a time of youth,

Those days are gone but never forgotten.

These things i say are true to all that once played,

Through generations and lifetimes,

Here’s to old friends never forgotten.

THE RIDER

He’ll ride in the morning, through the day travels the road,

High upon the hills a shadow beneath the clouds, he rides.

Into the wind, the rain blowing against his face, he rides,

The snow falls as through the mountain passes he is moving.

A man with no name, throughout the land maybe a glimpse,

He’s known only as the rider, carrying whatever for hire.

This horse he rides with colors of solid black and white spots,

A demon creature, wicked with speed like the wind.

Brown and black hat worn on his head gives a mysterious appearance,

A coat so long for cover and warmth shields him from weather, the rider.

Boots on his feet of dark, broken in pattern, can be noticed in the stirrups,

This man of the land rides, and rides just he and his faithful companion.

Like a ghost so quiet he roams the wild wilderness of life,

He’s known as the rider, into the night he rides.

THE MEANING OF LIFE AND THE WORLD ACCORDING TO ME

Does god have a plan, what is his plan, could this be his experiment,

from our first breath until our last breath there is life in between.

The mystery of why we are here is perhaps over thought, what is this life,

We walk and dream in this short existence known to us as forever.

The meaning of life appears very simple and not so confusing dear one,

Sit back and listen as i give my heart felt thoughts of where we are and why.

Watch the trees, see them dance against the unseen but softly felt breeze,

Do you believe what has been put before you and me, understand the gift.

Love and laughter, pain and sorrow, must be a feeling for all to know,

All that lives is born to die, from the beginning of time we age and say goodbye.

See the mountain and walk its path, step by step, time will pass into tomorrow,

The sky travels, It is the clouds that guide the way, see all things that are dreamed.

The ocean will be, after on this earth you and i are but a memory, hear the ocean,

Put your feet into the sandy beach, feel the sand, walk along the timeless shore.

Touch another’s heart with the love and care that is possessed by you, reach out,

Let go of the tears of many years with a forgiving smile that lasts a lifetime.

If we see the sunrise, will we see the sunset again the same day,

Are we blind, do we take for granted the beauty of our world.

When it rains do we cry about that which falls down upon us, do we wonder why,

Listen for the sound, take in the drops of life that take us way on down the road.

The meaning of life and the world according to me is from inside all that this man may see,

God has laid these truly wondering things before us, to see, to dream all that can be.

MY WORLD AND WELCOME TO IT

My name is not Important but who I am is not a dream,

My physical being holds no measure to my inner creation.

I am but a poor man with riches that lie in the heart,

What I’ve lost I do not seek out, things of new appear to me.

Once Iwas a child, a small and frightened boy left somewhere,

A place, a father, and haunting memory’s of a time since vanished.

There have been blessed upon me friends in a life of many roads,

In these passing years, lessons of pain and triumph are understood.

Children are mine to the count of three, two sons and a daughter,

The pictures that keep them show of an older me, my world.

I am a writer of thoughts, imagination, and living dreams,

The road I travel is in everyday, my eyes paint scenes from story’s.

Music has its own loneliness and beauty to fill my soul and mind,

I learn from it as I write this on going tale of a world full of mystery.

There are many components that make me who I am, a wanting man,

Passion, anger, and humor are part of the spirit in me, more to see.

A thinker and energy surround a body of laughter that some can’t grasp,

Not of violence to those whom know me, mistaken is hurt for anger.

To share my life with another and one to let me in theirs is prayed,

A poem read to, a meal for two, a walk in the park, a fire in the dark.

Brothers and sisters, a mother too far away, life has a secret,

Love that fly’s away fore another love will enter in its own way.

Something beautiful and meaningful is there before my eyes,

My name is Keith, this is my world and welcome to it.

REMEMBERING YOU DEAR FATHER WITH A THANK YOU

You were once a Navy man aboard the Newport News,

Sailing to far off lands that i’ll never know.

A poetry man and many story’s of your travels,

They’re all that i have of you, treasures of few.

From Amesbury Massachusetts to California we flew,

You brought us here for a better future.

So hard did you work, a machinist by trade,

Dollars of few, you sacrificed each day.

I remember a vegetable garden we worked on together,

Radishes, peas, and watermelon so sweet.

I sat on the ground as you showed me how to sand wood,

Upon it your medals from a Korean war.

Your talents were many as you gave them to me,

It was you and i building model airplanes, helicopters, and jets.

They hung from my ceiling, from bed i would dream,

Thank you for the love that you shared with me.

Voyage to the bottom of the sea was a show you did like,

Closing your eyes then drifting off to sleep.

Remembering you dear father, a hero to me,

On Friday nights you brought home treats for your family.

You were a good man, struggles like me,

At the end of an October you would cease to be.

Your pain went away, you left me that night,

My pain then started as you went on your heavenly flight.

Remembering you dear father with a thank you,

I am today because of you.

THE RAGING STORM

Like the wind i move with force through a chosen path,

At times so quiet, loud without warning.

As a tornado screams with havoc into the dark night,

I am fierce but i am also the quiet calm.

Thunder is booming, the hammer that strikes hard,

I am at times quite loud, sometimes not seen.

Lightning strikes fast and bright in many directions,

I may at times appear scary, i will not cause harm.

Like the falling snow, a blizzard passing through,

There lies in me the avalanche, the soft snowball tossed to you.

The raging river is swift, powerful as it makes its way,

I am strong, i am fast and head strong.

Watch the ocean as it moves to everywhere,

I keep moving in many directions, i am one.

A hurricane has an eye just as i have an eye,

Yelling out with anger, it sweeps across the land.

Like the hurricane i can be a monster or i might leave all alone,

The raging storm has beauty just as a man has his storm.

TIMELESS SAND

Walking along the beach with every step i take,

Underneath my feet lies a feeling of warmth and softness.

So far it does stretch, quite a distance to the eye,

This thing we call sand, all over the world through time.

It blows in the wind, It washes back into the sea,

It travels the earth, forever you see.

REMEMBER ME

I go outside to the things i’ll see,

A life of pain, not simple or free.

I walk and wonder of what i’ll be,

If i get old as the sea.

There was a time i was just a seed,

I grew and grew to become me.

The day will come when it’s all done,

I’ll leave behind a daughter, a son and a son.

I will laugh, you’ll hear no cry,

There is no time to sit and die.

What will they think of, my children these three,?

That i love them all, one, two, three.

I have a girl, a boy and a boy,

Everyday they bring me joy.

There was a time i was all alone,

No daughter or sons to call my own.

Each day you live remember me,

I’ll always love you, yes! you three.

Look to the sun, the stars, and the moon,

We shared all the Summers, they started in June.

When we take walks together to all kinds of places,

In all sorts of weather, we see all the faces.

We play at the park, you laugh at each other,

I’ve been your father but also your mother.

I’ve walked you to school year after year,

And given a hug when you show a tear.

Sometimes you don’t like me, i make you mad,

For the decisions i make, just call me dad.

As you grow up you will understand,

I walked with you all and you all held my hand.

We all start out small and grow to be tall,

As children we believe in magic you see,

Life wakes us up to reality.

With love from dad,

Sean, Scott, Sarah

MAN OF THE WOODS

Born quite a distance from civilized land, this man was,

In this place, these surroundings of still and quiet, lives he.

Immense sort of a man, bearded with scraggly hair,

Hunts for that which he eats, gun or knife in hand has he.

In weather hostile or friendly he makes his way, survives,

Cabin built of wood is where this loner dwells in silence.

Content to be in this place without another soul for company,

Whittling wood or the harmonica played is a passion of a man alone.

Fish that have been caught in a stream near by, fried up for dinner,

Eaten next to a fire that takes the chill from the night as he thinks.

On the porch settles this soul whom exists in solitude enjoying the night,

Not so complete without the puff of smoke from his tobacco filled pipe.

As he speaks good night to all around, all that lives, he’s off to slumber,

Who he is matters not, man of the woods, farewell.

STRENGTH AND POWER

With so much strength and power am I,

Formed in the beginning, only time knows just why.

I travel and move up and down,

Over and under, my crash forms a sound.

All that lives here answers to me,

These creatures are many, on land they’re not to be.

I move along across the sand,

Sometimes i’m sitting calm, other times high i’ll stand.

Everywhere is seen by me,

I’ve visited far off places just like thee.

Throughout time many have sailed across my path,

At times kind I am kind to them but so many have felt my wrath.

I am strength and power, I am the Ocean.
