WATCHER OF THE SEA

High above the water, overlooking the ocean,

Built above the rocks standing tall under the sky.

With Its' eyes of light so bright watching for those,

Guiding whom might approach these shores, looking.

For so many years It sees, watches, and waits,

As from across the horizon travelers make their way.

Watcher of the sea keeping your eye on what Is all
 Around thee,

Wheather the light of day or the dark of night, you
 Watch.

Trusted by many are you, counted on for safety,

You are the watcher of the sea, lonely as It may be.

KEEPER OF THE LIGHT

                     KEEPER OF THE LIGHT

Up in the air he spreads his wings,

He stretches to the heavens and sees many things.

This god of the sun, KEEPER OF THE LIGHT,

Soars in the sky on an eternal flight.

So peaceful is he, away up so high,

Forever and ever this spirit will fly.

Keeper of the light, what do you see?

Beyond the sun, a mystery to me.

Through the wind, you travel round, and round,

Watching over this star, from you there's no sound.

I can only imagine you're a spectacular sight,

Fly way up high, keeper of the light.

                                                                     Keith Garrett

WHISKY FOR MY MEN, BEER FOR MY HORSES

                                WHISKEY FOR MY MEN,

                                  BEER FOR MY HORSES.

They rise before the sun, breakfast, a day begun,

Men of a ranch know what it takes to get the job done.

There is much to do so off they run, dawn to dusk,

Baling hay, stalls to be attended to, never done.

Digging posts, mending fences along the road,

A little fun, men working in the sun.

Breaking a horse, they become one, now the sun touches the
 Ground,

The day is done, whiskey for my men, maybe a smoke,

These horses, like men, work from sunrise till days end.

Riding them to where the job need be done,

Pulling a wagon, exercising, or being groomed.

Part of a ranch, friend's, man and horse,

They jump and gallop, run like the wind.

A roundup they work, play in the sun,

Just as the rest, when the day is done, beer for my
  Horses.

Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses.

GOD IS IN THE RAIN

             GOD IS IN THE RAIN

Clouds form, they turn dark with storm,

Drops fall from the sky, cold and warm.

More and more as they touch tree tops,

Drip by drip they trickle down to the ground.

Into the rivers, flowing into the oceans as one,

Drops of rain cover lakes, slowly filling with time.

From the mountains the water makes its way down,

Soaking the hills to create life, within the flowers
 And grass.

Let the rain fall, God is in the rain, In the drops
 That are upon you,

God is in the rain as it comes down, God soaks this
 World with life.

THE RIDER

                 "THE RIDER"

He'll ride In the morning, through the day
 Travels the road,

High upon the hills, a shadow beneath the clouds,
 He rides.

Into the wind, the rain blowing against his face,
 He rides,

The snow falls as through the mountain passes he
 Is moving.

A man with no name, throughout the land, maybe a
 Glimpse,

He's known only as the rider carrying whatever for hire.

This horse he rides, with colors of solid black and
 White spots,

A demon creature, wicked, with speed like the wind.

Brown and black hat worn on his head, gives a mysterious
 Appearance,

A coat so long for cover and warmth, shields him from
 Weather, the rider.

Boots on his feet of dark, broken In pattern can be
 Noticed In the stirrups,

This man of the land rides and rides, just he and his
 Faithful companion.

Like a ghost so quiet, he roams the wild wilderness
 Of life,

He's known as the rider, Into the night he rides.

SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN BED

             SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN BED

Woke to the sound of rain, an aching head to
 Start my day,
Tripped over the cat that scratched me as I fell.
I went for the shower but the water was turned off,
Out in the street they were fixing a pipe, won't go
 Back on until the night.
A cup of coffee would have been nice,
If only I had gone shopping instead of drinking
 Last night.
I put on my pants to go to the store,
Couldn't get my car out of the driveway, the street
 Was closed.
Back in the house, soaked by the rain,
What to do on such a lousy day.
Couldn't watch t.v., the cable was out,
Put on the stereo, the power went out.
A drip on my head, this can't be happening to me,
The roof had a leak, only eight in the morning, kill
 Me I say.
I walked to the store, bought what I need,
On the way home a car drenched me, groceries at my feet.
Should have stayed in bed, I didn't know,
Another drink and a pill, back to sleep I'll go.
Forget the rest of the day, can you see how it's gonna
 go,
Maybe tomorrow i won't have to know.

THE WARRIOR

                 THE WARRIOR

Dressed for battle, he stands ready to fight,
 The warrior,

Fear lives within him fore this emotion brings wisdom.

Strong as he fights for that which he believes,

A lonely way of life but a man makes a choice, a stand.

A family, not In this souls' plans, born to walk alone,

This chosen way that may haunt Is just a house of cards.

It's not said that a bad man Is he, quietly the sun
 Rises for him,

This path chosen, a quiet one If those choose to let
 Tt be not a fight.

Always ready for battle, though silently lives In the
 Shadows,

This wanting to be left In peace man Is a warrior on
 His own.

SHE LIVED IN THE WOODS

             SHE LIVED IN THE WOODS

Hidden from sunlight, beneath the tall aging trees,

Deep in the woods, alone lived she.

A different kind of world, quiet except for the
 Creatures that be,
A woman so aged, seems that she'd been here for
 Eternity.
So far below that which grows, the falling rain can
 Barely touch,
In a rickety old cabin, she had not much.

Only sounds of the woods kept her company,

In a dark, lost, existence, she lived to be so old,

 Not of loneliness.

Many things did she to occupy her moments of a life
 Meant to be,
Never a face shown to her, only memories of childhood
 Dreams.
She lived in the woods, somewhere you see,

An old, old, woman gone and not missed but who was she?

WALKING THE WALL

               WALKING THE WALL

I've been here before, trying to fight an
 Unbeatable one,

A lesson heard but still not learned.

Pounding against a wall, wanting to move
 Through it,

Many times tried but it does not move for me.

A hand of force does not go through, only touches,

The body can'not pass on to the other side.

Walking the wall, a man can see both sides,

He can look up and down, focus all around.

If his balance is strong and steady, he will not
 Fall,

Do not jump while walking the wall,

A clear head and all things are possible.

LORD OF KINGS

              LORD OF KINGS

Rulers of many lands, they were different but
 Greed the same,

Treasures valued beyond the real purpose of a
 Living man.

Since the birth of man and the rising sun, war is
 Never done,

Blood spilled with time, lies and guilt, death
 seems but a crime.

There are Kings who sit upon thrones of deceit
 And evil deeds,

I wonder If there ever was one who thought more
 About the common good.

The Lord of Kings Is a mysterious one, creator of
 All things great and kind,

Master of Earthly scenes, creator of the universe,
That which men build and destroy.
